ARCHIVED 4 Weeks Gluten Free
notme replied to Montefisto's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
if you are still eating dairy this early on, i would quit it for awhile. if your villi are damaged, your body isn't producing what it needs to digest dairy - it's produced by your villi - so until your intestines heal some, your poops are gonna be wierd and dairy will be irritating and maybe slow the healing process. yeah, it's alot to pay attention... -

notme replied to CommonTater's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
yeah, we buy the tinkyada, too. i hadn't found a good sub for egg noodles until i found some in a rinky-dink beach grocery in florida and the brand is: seitenbacher. they are made in germany - very light and delicate. my husband likes them better than 'regular' with his stroganoff you can order them online. -

ARCHIVED I Can't Believe That Just Happened......
notme replied to ~**caselynn**~'s topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
surprising that she knows you have already been doing this for TWO YEARS - time enough to get used to the idea that you have to be very careful where you eat. if she was that close of a friend, she has seen your health improve as well, so your 'picky' eating is necessary! sorry, kiddo, that sucks that's why i have, like, one friend lolz she better not... -

ARCHIVED New To This, What Am I Missing ?
notme replied to Tbolt47's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
it is pretty early on, especially if you had been having symptoms left untreated for a long time. i had this for 25 years, untreated, so i figure it's going to take awhile. your nerves have to heal, too. i'm 3 years in and still noticing improvement. i don't eat alot of processed foods but i do eat some - the less ingredients, the better - food journal... -

AMEN to that!! don't cry for me - i already *know* what's wrong with me and i'm fixing it -
eating gluten-free doesn't require a prescription. and other 'treatable' <billable) things have cleared up. the only reason i have been to my g.p. is to monitor my blood pressure, which i have a 'script for, and they check my blood once or twice a year because i'm old. i figure the insurance company is saving a bunch on me what have you been doing...

ARCHIVED What Is Gluten Withdrawl?
notme replied to eblue's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
i had withdrawals - it feels like a really bad flu - i may have even gotten a fever i can't remember. take some time and baby yourself - it'll be up and down for awhile - hang in there! and check those soaps and whatnot, if you're going through withdrawal, you want to do the best you can not to start over again. -

ARCHIVED Does Diagnosis Get You Blackballed?
notme replied to nosy parker's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
insurance companies are going to make their money one way or another - just like banks - they got a smack on the hand, now they just make up new ways to get your $$ we are fortunate enough that my husband's employer provides insurance for our family. i have no idea whether our rates have gone up since my celiac dx (i hope not, they are a small business... -
