ahhh! creeper!! lolz - yes, my husband did that but i was hesitant to suggest it because not everybody has cast iron grates and is handy with a torch. also, we 'reseasoned' our cast iron pans by putting them in the oven on the self-clean cycle. seems to have worked. or we maybe never cooked anything with gluten in them?? i like the replacing the... -

ARCHIVED 2 Months Gluten Free & Still.....

in the beginning of my gluten-free diet, my reaction time (causing the big D) was almost immediate. like i licked my fingers while re-heating 'regular' food for the kids and BOOM 5-15 min later i was running to the bathroom. now that i am a few years in, it takes 2 days to get the full on reaction. it will start sneaking up on me within 12 hrs i will get... -

saturday, we made baked butterfly shrimp w/spinach & arugula salad. i just chop up a bunch of herbs & garlic, stick them onto the shrimp, bake them in unsalted butter and put olive oil, lemon juice, salt & pepper in the greens. that's it nice & light yesterday we had the church youth luncheon (fundraiser thing) so we made giant samwiches... -

ARCHIVED Knoxville, Tn - The Grill At Highlands Row :)
notme posted a topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
went out to a show with my daughter (and shopping lolz!) and i noticed there was a restaurant within walking distance of the venue. also, the chef is featured on our local news program and i noticed he cooks with simple ingredients <in stainless steel so i called to see if they could accommodate serious gluten-free. i told them i was not on a fad diet... -
ha ha - i saw the name of this thread and LOL'd - i would never ever ever ever ever eat at sonic. i would forage for grubs and berries if my only other option was sonic. 3 out of my 4 kids worked there and (even before i was dx'd) they have no clue on how to keep you safe. the place is known for getting orders out fast fast fast - carhops and staff are...

made venison goulash w/corn "egg noodles" last night - something is bugging my insides and i hope it wasn't that...... i get really brave, then it's back to the food journal. maybe strawberries just hate me. i even made sure they were from california. -
i usually 'splurge' on: bread, pasta, (i still use lactaid, but i probably don't need to) i have no reaction to boar's head cold-cuts, so i buy a little for me and a cheaper brand for everybody else, pizza crust, burger/hot dog buns <so, still bread items.. the 'fake' soy bragg's enzyme sauce, certain flours <and that you will collect different ones...

if you are putting your food directly onto a pre-gluten-free grill, you might be cross contaminating yourself - put yours in tinfoil before putting on grates. stop licking your fingers when you are making kids' food lolz that was one i learned the hard way. tinkyada pasta is da bomb - i am also a huge pasta lover and tink comes pretty close - it even holds...

some manufacturers use vinegar. i have skipped buying some brands (pickles, too) because it just says "vinegar" - not distilled vinegar, so better safe than sorry? it doesn't matter anymore; i just grow cabbage and make my own (salt. cabbage. the end.)

hey, melissa - hang in there - you might have withdrawal symptoms before you start feeling better. most of us quit dairy in the beginning. i did for about 6 months to give damaged villi healing time. eat simply, that is your best bet. i went crazy at first, trying to substitute 'familiar' foods - i finally just (mostly) ate boar's head turkey on udi's...

good for you!!!! congratulations it really is a whole different world, isn't it. indeed, newbies, hang in there - the rewards are fantastic! -
why don't they just say, "carb free" or something like that. because if you're getting cc'd, you're not gluten free. and if you're still getting gluten, what's the point of the whole thing? sounds like she is a "LOOK AT ME! LOOK AT ME!" type - my daughter has a friend like that, but to the opposite. she weighs, probably, at least 250 lbs - always...

i like to think about eating out more than i actually am brave enough to try. ie: we are going to florida - i am looking up gluten-free in ft myers beach, naples, and port st lucie. and making a list of what to put in the cooler because i'm just not going to risk it. it takes 2 weeks and if i gotta eat a ham samwich every day, i will..... here you go, bunz - this is simona's recipe, i thought it was on this forum, but i can't find the link.. i use lactaid for the rice milk, sometimes sub flours, etc and if you omit the sugar, it will be savory. the batter is pretty forgiving and this summer i am probably going to adjust it ever so slightly to make funnel cakes. just fry in deeper oil. ... -

before i had any idea i had celiac, i: worked full time as a freight broker/transportation agent while i also: raised four kids to adulthood. (but there were always at least 6 kids in the house at all times) if i couldn't sleep, i went to the 24 hour store and did my grocery shopping for the week, because husband is an over-the-road trucker.... -

no more bakeries for me if they make 'regular' wheat flour stuff. just learned that lesson the hard way. i pretty much cancel everything when i get glutened. if people don't understand (and it is less frequent the longer i am at this because i'm better at it progressively) that's too bad. plus, i tend to get so irritable that social functions would just...
