    ARCHIVED Poll Time:

a 'garbage' pizza (that's w/everything) from mario's in nj. lasagne!!! and a rueben sandwich on seedless rye. or pumpernickel.....
  3. do you feel better on a gluten-free diet? i know what you mean about having a diagnosis. it's like putting the lid on the box... but..... if you feel better, then stand your ground. someone else said on this forum "nobody ever died from not eating wheat" also it's none of their business if you choose to feel better!
  4. well, let's see if it will go away!! my sense of smell is coming back (i can never smell anything - a blessing sometimes, i suppose! lol!) and i am hoping as i heal my allergies will also go so many things i believe are related to pesky poison gluten that i have developed over the years. so gradually and seemingly unrelated it's soooo sneaky... then...
  5. yeah, my doc kinda freaked me a little - for me (us) it is a giant life change. for the doctors i suppose it is business as usual. while i was still trying to wrap my head around the whole thing, she was on to the next patient. not bad, just brief. if that was your experience, too, i guess that is normal. lol maybe we have the same dr granting...
  6. i had vertigo a few years back. it was so bad i went to the emergency room. (panic attack) couldn't drive for like a month. ENT said it was partly allergies and partly because of my inner ear.. i did head exercises and got on allergy meds. i still have balance issues and wow if that would clear up being gluten-free maybe i could dance again. not like...
  7. thanks so much i think it was my hair mousse!!! or something to do with being scoped? i dunno, but it's gone. boy, y'all are not kidding - gotta watch everything. after feeling much better and having 'normal' digestion lately and healing noticeably, i guess that was my first real glutening? boy, oh boy, everything just went crazy there - didn't even...
  8. THAT is a great idea i am going to call them next week to see if they have my complete results and then get them. the 3-4 month appointment also threw me. i am so underweight! but i guess she is confident that the diet will work fine? these people in the dr's office are going to hate me in a hurry flight? or FIGHT! hmmmmmm......
  9. ok, then! why in the world didn't she just say that? maybe she was waiting for results from the biopsy? when all of my results are in the nurse said i could have them all faxed to me so i'm going to do that, too. they only scoped one end(o) (haha) but used 2 scopes. she did a really good job, too, i hardly had a scratchy throat. i am going to check...
  10. thanx! between kleenex and toilet paper i am killing trees left and right yes, she is really great - she thought it would be harmful to go back on gluten for the tests. also wanted to do the endo asap so as to 'catch' the symptoms. i just want to know if celiac is her diagnosis? is my insurance going to cover the dietitian without a diagnosis? ...
  11. ugh, i am having a Bad Day. and then somebody comes on and posts exactly what i'm thinking. oh, man, maybe it doesn't make a damn bit of difference what i eat or do not eat. i'm just defective. so, some yummy pizza would be sooooo gooooood right now.......... buuuuut, my husband is my rock. he thought he was going to lose me, too. so he is my reason...
  12. here i am again, frustrated out of my mind. my husband says: why don't you just post what the doctor wrote. my blood test came back negative, but i expected that because i have been on the gluten-free diet since the beginning of august and just had it done last monday. so i had the endo thingy done on friday and this is what she wrote: hiatal hernia...
  13. oh, i was prepared, trust me i had a cooler full of redbridge and ahi tuna w/sesame noodles (father of the bride said he wanted what i brought lol) chex mix & larabars. but i took a leap of faith and ate the food. the chef walked me through all ingredients otherwise i probably wouldn't have. also met another celiac there who noticed i was drinking...

  16. i think that is a great idea. soooo many things can be made gluten free, etc., and nobody would even guess. just don't tell or they won't eat it lol - why is that??!! o, and i bought some chebe (sp?) rolls the other day - haven't had a chance to try them yet. if they're any good, maybe you could sub them for regular bread? if bread is a hot topic...
  17. we went to our friends' daughter's (and son in law:)) wedding reception and they were absolutely over the top. the caterer helped to serve and rattled off every ingredient in everything i considered eating. they even had smoked salmon (very lightly seasoned, sauce on the side!) extra just to make sure i had something they were sure i could eat! fruit...
  18. you know, at first i thought, 'nah, i don't need one.' but, recently, a whole lot of people are dabbling in this diet (because it is healthy, to lose weight, because it's the 'hip' diet, because of blah-blah) who won't really get sick from getting glutened. maybe i will get one so people REMEMBER that this is a medical condition. puh-leez, i am so underweight...
  19. haha - on my first gluten-free trip out of town i brought my own breakfast: honey nut chex. and my own dish and spoon. so, in a big crowd of people in our hotel room i am munching away while everybody is discussing what i can and cannot eat. (my first "feed the freak" experience) i get done eating and take the bowl to wash it out and promptly drop it...
  20. o i'm so sorry (( i had a miscarriage between my son and my youngest daughter. thinking that God maybe knows best sometimes (as in baby wasn't going to develop right, etc.) helped me get through. it's tough. but the next baby was normal and healthy, so hang in there. our thoughts and prayers are with you xxoo
  21. I am very new here, too. this place has been a Godsend for me! I had a lot of D the first week - a lot - and seemingly out of nowhere but I read *on here* to try going dairy-free for awhile while my body is healing. worked like a charm learning to read my body better, too ( after all those years of clean living... NOT! ) I never knew what was wrong...

  23. my daughter started working at ruby tuesdays in our town - I'm excited! she has been training all week and I am impressed with this company so far. yesterday they were educated in food allergens! ARCHIVED Grief

ha I am already contemplating ruining my annual trip to nj b/c I don't know if I can resist the pizza and rationalizing it with 'well, I'm probably gonna get glutened anyway, might as well enjoy it' just this past weekend we stayed overnight at our friends' house overnight. not only did they try sooo hard to feed me only for them to name a certain...
