The What's For Dinner Tonight Chat
Marilyn R replied to jess-gf's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I am lovin' my new indoor grill. I made steak kabobs with a Ribeye that was on sale. It took 3 minutes for MR, 5 for Medium. DP usually gets GERD from steak, so I've avoided it for quite awhile. You know that funny thing about absence makin' the heart grow fonder? Those kabobs were the best -

I asked my oldest sister (I'm the youngest of five) if she appreciated the fact that I took ALL of the bad genes in my gene pool She has a masters in Nursing. She laughed, then said she was sorry. I have very good eyesite out of it, though, I'm still 20/20 at 52 years old. The eye doc said I have a perfect genetic line up. Glad something worked. My... -

I think Kathryn Hepburn said "If you obey all the rules, you miss all the fun." But I'm bad at quotes. And I think the only reason I thought of that is that it's on the box of the gluten-free pizza I like. -

My neighbor gave me a huge bag of mangos last night. I call her almost every Sunday and ask if she's in the mood for weird soup for her lunch, and she always agrees. (She said the beet soup had a great flavor but the color kind of freaked her out.) (It kind of freaked me out too!) I think she paid it forwards and backwards, I've been delivering her... -

Will you share the recipe? I'm allergic to pecans, but walnuts might work, right? Or Macadamian nuts? -

I'll try to, but I'm not good at behaving myself. Long history of not doing so. P.S. We had pizza tonight. -

Grilled mango (used the George Foreman) and a little dark rum sauce (brown sugar, dark rum and lime juice reduced) over vanilla ice cream. Thanks for the thread. It's like the hokey pokey. Isn't desert what it's all about? xxx -

We had a good one tonight. DP smoked a chicken with my homemade adobe sauce. We had that with roasted cauliflower and a greek salad. I made a boatload of soup today, maybe a gallon. All roasted vegies, no grains. Haven't decided whether or not to add cream. I'm thinking not. (It has a piece of bacon in it, carmelized the chopped onions in it. -
ARCHIVED How To Lighten Dh Scars On Face?
Marilyn R replied to rosetapper23's topic in Dermatitis Herpetiformis
Dear Rose, I'm a Merle Norman convert. Their Sport foundation is the bomb. It covers anything and you don't feel like you have gunk on your face. I work in outside sales in the subtropics and it works for me. (It covers ugly Lupus "wolf bites" for me.) It's gluten-free. Just make sure to let it dry completely before putting a top on. If it's wet... -

I don't know if your experience will be similar to mine or not, but soy kicked me. I can now tolerate soy lecethin in dark chocolate and other things, but I save that for special occasions. I didn't show up with a soy allergy with skin prick testing, but my allergist explained that intolerances were a whole different story. I still haven't actually... -

Marilyn R replied to gem75's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
We probably aren't similar, because I can't tolerate benadryl. It makes me climb the walls! I don't twitch, used to, but I have other neuro responses to getting glutened (balance, gait, neurapathy. I found Quinoa is a wicked grain for me, not sure it will be for you. It's and ingredient in many gluten-free foods. Congrats on being pregnant! YAY... -

I did try Congee, it was good. I had it savory one morning and sweet the next. It came out too thick though. I used one cup of brown rice and six cups water in the little crock pot. I had DP dump the remainder of the Congee in the compost bin today and he asked me if that stuff was Gorilla Glue or what?!? (He's a whiner.) I think 8... -

We had scrambled eggs with sauted shallots, diced tomato and gouda cheese served with crispy bacon, a toasted Against the Grain roll and a side of fresh pineapple. It was the bomb. I think I'm gonna try congee (brown rice though) in th little crock pot tonight, thanks for that link. -

WB Love! We're just back from a trip too. My DP talked me into buying a 24' very used mobile home. I had 100 reasons why we shouldn't buy it, he had 101 why we should. Number 101 was "We need an adventure!!!! It was an adventure. We went camping with a club the people we bought the RV from belong to and I caught a lot of flack about not eating... -
Last night at happy hour at my neighbors (officially lasted for about 3.5 hours), why limit happy to 1 hour, the host showed me his Calcutta scarve. (He used to play semi-pro baseball, coached too. It's SPF 50. I bought a purple one with sharks on it today. It's the bomb! Jimmy showed me all the ways it could be worn. I'm not endorsing Calcutta, therer...

Hi lady, welcome to the forum! wholeheartedly I concur with the advice already offered... you'll find several food bloggers that have good sites, here's one if you haven't discovered it yet. Open Original Shared Link Feel better soon, but do wait to go gluten-free until afer you have your upper. And if your GI doesn't know that, find a new improved... -
Especially since it agrees with your skin tone! Glad it all worked out! ((( )))) Thanks~ BTW,former beekeeper, wow, very cool, Squirmingitch. and PS for the co-worker's hubbie, Coolibar.com is a good (but expensive) site for protective clothing. Columbia has some good clothing too, that's in some dept. stores here, not sure about DC.

Thank you squirming! Is that blossom in your avatar still blooming? It's purple! (And beautiful BTW!) Thinking purple is a blessing, thanks! Here's a worthy link for men with Lupus, Paul, in case you want to share with your co-worker. Open Original Shared Link It may go into too much detail, your decision. Maybe just give them the link and let...

ARCHIVED How Does Everyone Feel When They Cheat?
Marilyn R replied to a topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I don't cheat. Ever. I occasionly make a mistake and have to call in sick and feel like complete dog meat, like if I eat something a neighbor tells me they made just for me and it's gluten-free. (I've always been a sucker for peer pressure.) My mother ended up living the last six years of her life in a nursing home. It took two aides and a machine... -
