  1. That happens. Sorry. It's best to go with whole foods that you've cooked yourself at first. I became convinced when I had a gluten-free salad that cost $15 for lunch at a chain fern bar when I first went gluten-free. Additives may be bothering your system. Good luck, hope you find your way down this path of discovery.
  2. I use a mini food processor. For this batch, I used about 1 1/2 cups fresh basil, 2 cloves garlic, 1/4 cup pistachios,(can use any nuts, or no nuts), approximately 1/8 cup good olive oil, sea salt. You don't need pepper because the basil is so peppery. Grind it until it is pesto consistency. I also like this made with parsley half and half or all out...
  3. Last night we had goat curry. (Not curried goat, if you know what I mean.) Tonight we had grilled chicken marinated in pesto and roasted potatos. And sweet cheeries dipped in chocolate sauce. That was too good to be true! (Found the recipe on Allrecipes.) It was even good on watermelon. Yea. Had a little chocolate fest down here today...
  4. Sorry about all of my typos. I've discovered that my most ravenous time is mid day, so I upgraded my lunchbox. It's now a 12 pack cooler from WalMart sporting goods section. (I'd been carrying a 6-pack). This evening I pre-loaded it with safe dried cranberries and nuts, a little bottle of olive oil. I cut my lime in half for tomorrow, chopped up some...
  5. I had lunch at work today with a coworker who brought curried goat. I have her recipe now. You could really bum him out if you put goat on the grocery list. (We can get frozen goat from West Indies grocery stores or Indian gorcers here.) We had little grilled burgers and fennel sausage tonight with sweet cheeries and sliced peaches and green salad...
  6. You did better than I did. Told sig other he was on his own. I had a mango. (He didn't starve...had left-over pork and chicken and potatos. I'm tired and need to whip up somthing for lunch tomorrow... I can do it!
  7. It may be time to go get poked by the allergist (hoping you have insurance). I used to lay in bed thinking, will it get better? I'd wonder if I should give up all meat because all animals eat grain. I'd already given up gin because the triple distillation process didn't seem to work for me. Turned out I was allergic to turkey (never liked...
  8. Nope. The hottest I've had is habenero. Funny story about habeneros. My ex know-it-all British husband picked some habeneros out of my garden and I suggested that he use gloves. He pish-poshed that. Later he told me that not only did he have stinging fingers, he had taken a pee and ... well, the resin from the pepeper on his fingers burnt him other...
  9. Last night we had the best pork ribs ever. I stopped by a Latin produce store and they had smoked, dried poblano peppers. I picked up four for 50 cents. I just happened to have pork ribs simmering in the crock pot with NE Carolina vinegar sauce, and stuck one of those dried peppers in there. We finished the ribs off on the grill. Ribs with sauerkraut...
  10. Grilled mahi-mahi marinated in fresh lemon juice, garlic and ground pepper with a little olive oil, salad, and a perfectly ripe, fresh mango. Dinner was ab fab tonight.
  11. Marinated grilled chicken, sweet potatoes and salad.
  12. Grilled shrimp kabobs with onion and mango chunks (could substitue any fresh fruit slices) and greek olives. It ended up sweet and sour and savory, a nice surprise (just used what I had and hoped it would be edible, and it was really good!) Served the kabobs with brown rice pilaf.
  13. The dog is an 11 year old Dobie and is treated like a queen here. As well she should, she killed a 3' coral snake on our screened in back porch a week ago. I haven't used the leftovers yet. We had grilled ribs, romaine salad with a garlic viniagrette and roasted new potatos last night. The dessert from last night seriously hurt me today. I...
  14. I do too! I love the marrow! My dear BF gives his bones to our beloved dog, which puts me in a quandry. I just don't say anything. How could he respect me if I asked him to wait, i want to have that marrow before you give it to that poor decrepid dog? It kills me. I was out of lemons yesterday but there are leftovers and I always have fresh parsely...
  15. I'm glad that he pays his proper respects!
  16. Love, pulled pork only takes 30 minutes in a pressure cooker! (But you brown the pork and onions, carrots, etc first.) I used a N. Carolina BBQ sauce found online that was just apple cider vinegar, dried pepper, brown sugar, red pepper, garlic and knowing me I added onion. Made that the night before, and stuck it out on the porch. I added left over...
  17. I have something to look forward to when I get over my dairy intolerance!! Buttermilk biscuits and sausage gravy. OMG. You're giving me food envy! I'm a skinny thing and need to put weight on my bones, would love to do it with biscuits and gravy!
  18. Does your husband count himself lucky? Yum! That sounds wonderful!! Will you please open a restaurant?
  19. No. Don't worry about salt. Reading your tag, I'd worry about the small amounts of lactose free milk. Have you tried coconut milk, in the can, without preservatives and additives (from oriental or indian grocers)? Good luck.
  20. His and hers pulled pork sandwiches. His on hamberger buns, her's open face on toasted Udi's. Both of us had saurkraut on the side. His with BBQ sauce. We had banana nut chocolate cookies for dessert. (I think that's the only thing I bake anymore.)
  21. Noodle, jungle, jac & RL... Are you eating plenty of protein? And I mean intermentently throughout the day. It seems to help. I'm worthless if I don't get my protein every few hours.
  22. Roast pork with homemade NE Carolina BBQ sauce, carrots, and taters. I really need to start thinking green. Dessert: potato vodka with pear juice and fresh lycchee martini. My sidekick opted for the usual (peanut butter cookie using THE recipe.)
  23. We had grilled steaks marinated in a spiced up mango puree (it was use or lose the mango) with roasted sweet potatoes. I have a nice batch of okra in the refrigerator...any ideas?
  24. We had grilled fish with mango chutney and grilled sweet potatoes tonight. I should have made a salad, but didn't feel like it and decided we just have to listen to our body sometimes.
  25. We had grilled marinated lamb with brown basmati rice pilaf and sliced fresh GA peaches. Dessert was a potato vodka smoothie with frozen banana, another fresh peach and a splash of pineapple juice. I liked dessert best.
