ARCHIVED I Can Handle All Of This But
Cypressmyst replied to Debbie B in MD's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
As I understand it if you fix your leaky gut and adrenal glands your body should be able to fight off cancer on its own. Many Celiacs heal their villi damage but never heal up the cracks in their intestines. There may be a link there for sure. No concrete studies to point to on my end just lots of reading here and there I remember that the 2010 Celiac... -
ARCHIVED Considering Getting A Copper IUD
Cypressmyst replied to Cypressmyst's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Thanks for the feedback guys. Very helpful! -
I'm considering getting a Copper IUD put in. I've heard great things about them but I'd like to hear more stories from people before making my decision. Especially people that have had horrible cramping that may have gotten better after going gluten-free. Did you have problems with cramping return or? At the 10 month mark being gluten-free and my cramps...

Current testing methods miss a lot of people both for Celiac and overall Gluten Syndrome. You can get anti-gliadin tests run or find a doctor who will work with Cyrex labs and get the Ten protein test done through them. I am non-celiac gluten sensitive and had positive anti-gliadin anti-bodies when tested. I am also getting the ten protein and autoimmunity...

ARCHIVED Problems With Produce
Cypressmyst replied to dilettantesteph's topic in Super Sensitive People
Yeah, they are really starting to take a serious look at all grains. Rice and Corn have gluten in them (Not sure wild rice does though). The gluten in rice and corn isn't enough to cause a problem in most people but it is certainly not unheard of. I know for me corn made me feel naucious and blah after a while and rice was keeping me just a bit bloated and... -
Eliminating refined sugar can only be a good thing. It does a number on our bodies. I've started sweetening my nut flour based cakes with just applesauce and it turns out great. Makes me wonder why we were so hooked on the white stuff to begin with.

ARCHIVED "gluten Free" Products Making You Sick?
Cypressmyst replied to padma's topic in Super Sensitive People
I agree. Try dumping all grains. They all have gluten in them, just a different type then what causes the majority of folks problems. Could be your tolerance to them is finally worn down. I feel so much better off of them. Man was not meant to eat grains. Paleo is the way to go. -
ARCHIVED Problems With Produce
Cypressmyst replied to dilettantesteph's topic in Super Sensitive People
I always thought it had something to do with the pesticides or the coating. But who knows what happens to these veggies from the time they are picked to the time they get to the store. Could be that they are shipped in a truck that ships wheat...though you would think that would wash off and certainly peel away. And even organic! That is just evil... -
Yup, for every person who scoffs and thinks you are a nut-case there is another who listens and gets their life back. Worth annoying a few folks I think. I'm sure glad my cousin talked to me, even when I did not immediately want to hear it. It did sink in and life is so much better now.

Well put T.H I get that you don't want folks to throw up their hands in frustration and run screaming into the night away from gluten-free because of how careful some of us end up having to be. I think we can all agree that, no matter how hard this stuff seems at times, we are all better off for having figured out what a problem Gluten is...

ARCHIVED Can Gluten Be Absorbed Through The Skin?
Cypressmyst replied to Aunt Jayne's topic in Super Sensitive People
I have been glutened enough times by soaps and hand sanitizers that I know it is possible. The reaction starts within a minute and my hands go no where near my mouth. They also start tingling and feeling funny so I usually know something is up within the first ten seconds or so. From what I understand Gliadin is the only peptide that has been studied... -
ARCHIVED Wheat Allergy And Grain Alcohol
Cypressmyst replied to creesal's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
They are really starting to take a hard look at distilled alchohol and whether or not it is true that the proteins are broken down. There are 70 some proteins in wheat that can cause an issue. It may be that gliadin is broken down but some people are reacting to Beta gliadin instead or some such. Your body is the best indicator as Muffy has already figured... -
My husband went gluten-free with me to see if our back rashes cleared up. They did and so much more. Then my best friend and her husband went gluten-free and all sorts of issues they were having disappeared and that is the place we hang out the most outside of our house. In truth gluten is poison for everyone. No one can digest it and it causes all...

ARCHIVED Nuts Online Company Offers Certified Gluten Free
Cypressmyst replied to eatmeat4good's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Beyond awesome. Thank you! -
Oh I know how you feel. Believe me. There are days when I want my childhood back. I was sick all the time, had the same doctor for 4 years and he never once bothered to do his job. Just kept saying "eat more fiber." or yelling at me to stop throwing my Metamucil down the drain when my Mom wasn't looking. He's dead now or I'd have more than a few choice...

ARCHIVED Almost Cried At Work!
Cypressmyst replied to Kimbalou's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
It helps me to know that it is poison. Not appetizing in the least. Honestly when I see people eating or drinking gluten I feel bad for them. Especially when they have an obvious weight issue or auto-immune disorder and the like. Very hard to watch people killing themselves. Breaks my heart every time. -

ARCHIVED 6 Yr Old Constantly Telling My Her Stomach Hurts
Cypressmyst replied to norahsmommy's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
And while you are at it you may want to give serious consideration to getting off gluten yourself. Full time. This stuff is just bad news and we can't digest it. It's been causing chronic issues for thousands of years. More so now because it is in everything. Your daughters sound like me when I was young. Always with an upset stomach, after a while... -
ARCHIVED Yay, Doc Didn' Think I Was A Nut Job!
Cypressmyst replied to norahsmommy's topic in Doctors
Norahsmommy the title made me laugh. Sometimes it's the little things in this battle. Glad you have an understanding Doc. Now you just have to be sure they are up on all the latest research. There is no need to gluten your child when you know gluten is the problem. She has responded positively to a gluten-free diet and that is proof positive, far more... -
ARCHIVED Doc Says Celiac - I'm Unconvinced
Cypressmyst replied to zus888's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Ah yes but the most accurate and conclusive test equipment available is your own body. Far, far more accurate than anything made from the minds and hands of men. Chrons is caused by the same thing Celiac is and Hypo Thyroid is, and RA is, and so on. Do the research into it and you'll see what I mean. No one can digest this stuff. The 2010 Celiac Forum... -
ARCHIVED Still Having Bad Cramps
Cypressmyst replied to CourtneyLee's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
The healing process is painful sometimes, depends on your body and how much damage has been done. That being said it is also possible that you are getting glutened someplace. Are you careful about CC? New pots and pans etc...? Have you checked your hand soaps, shampoos and the like? Do you work in and around gluten or do you live in a house with a... -
ARCHIVED First Menstrual Period gluten-free, Feeling Aweful!
Cypressmyst replied to possiblyglutensensitive's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
See your body knows what it needs. Unfortunately the tests are not accurate or as sensitive as they need to be right now. Not even the gliadin test. The best and most accurate test is to try the diet for a month or three and see how you feel. And do enjoy the almonds along the way. -
ARCHIVED Should I Stay On The Diet?
Cypressmyst replied to laneave's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I agree that you should give it more time and feeling better on a gluten free diet is a positive test. Just as, if not more accurate than, a blood test. And biopsies are truly barbaric in my opinion. I've gotten glutened from kissing my gluten-free husband several hours after he ate some contaminated chips. The only indications he has that there is... -
Canola oil hurts my heart. I stay far away from it.
