  1. I like spices so I'll have to ck them out--thanks!
  2. honey. i don't use any "artificial" sweetners b/c they bother my digestive system in general...meaning splenda, aspartame etc. i have used stevia a few times.
  3. I haven't heard anything of them being connected genetically... So that leads me to think they are both determined with genetic markers independent from each other...and if someone has both it is a coincidence per se. Like, if you have blue eyes and brown hair--they are each determined independently. Developing another autoimmune disease or secondary illness...
  4. You can venture to a restaurant without a gluten-free menu...but as was said here, talk to the manager...explain Celiac or tell them you have serious food allergies and that all pans and utensils need to be clean etc. Meat, steamed veggies, baked potato are a good way to go. You could also pick up some dining cards if you want some help explaining the situation...
  5. What are they exactly? Like little chippy things??
  6. I love annie's dressings--my favorite is the Tuscan Italian--yum! The raspberry vinaigrette is good too, and I like the balsamic vinegar.
  7. I don't risk it either. Switched all my products--and found a new shampoo that makes my hair look even better! (And several other woman have switched to using it too What shampoo have you been using?

  11. I use Bragg's. Open Original Shared Link You can get them in little packets for traveling too which is nice. La Choy states theirs is gluten-free. San-J makes a gluten-free Tamari soy sauce--just make sure to read the labels to verify you have the gluten-free one. Open Original Shared Link
  12. Heat like in a hot shower or heat like in summer? My doc gave me a prescip for metrogel...I think I used it once years ago. We'll see I guess. Has yours ever gotten significantly worse or does it stay about the same? I'm worried its going to get bad...stupid to worry I know...but I'm like, at least if I'm not feeling great I can look great!! Thanks Patti
  13. Anyone else have rosacea? If so--have you identified any triggers, causes, good treatments etc? Just got diagnosed with it yesterday...
  14. Below are tips for traveling and another thread that might give you some ideas--have fun!!! Open Original Shared Link I do several things when I go on vaca: -Find local restaurants with gluten-free menus (like pf changs etc) and local wild oats or health food stores -Contact a local support group for area tips etc if there is one -Pack food! I take...
  15. Two ways to track down if you have other food intolerances. 1: Get an IgG food intolerance test through one of the testing labs--York, Great Plains Labs (I used this one). (I can give you websites). 2: Probably the most popular way, do a rotation diet/keep a food and symptom journal. I did testing but the food journal is what really confirmed to me the...
  16. yes, as far as i know, they do all have corn in them.
  17. I also get PVCs, my dad and I both do. I typically get them when I'm run down or on occasional after stopping suddenly during a work out. They are usually benign and most folks don't need meds. But if it is happening frequently or during activity, I would mention it to the doc. As long as I take care of myself I don't usually have any problems. When...
  18. Glad you found the carrot cake! I agree with what Tiffany said Honesty applied gracefully works wonders. But if the graceful approach fails, then you are free to resort to b*tch-slapping. Well, not really... And yes, every once in a while we do meet someone who won't back off even after doing the above...so change the subject and if appropriate...
  19. I think a lot of times people follow our lead--meaning, your reaction will help determine theirs. (Not always unfortuantely) but this has proved true for me many times. Don't say anything. If someone asks respond that you have Celiac, a condition that keeps you on a restricted diet or just say "I have food allergies." Lots of folks will leave it alone...
  20. I am giving a baby shower with a friend this weekend where another Celiac will be attending. I know she will want to eat the 7-layer dip my friend is making, but I want to make sure its safe. Read e-mail below from my friend….any one know if Kroger sour cream or shredded cheeses are gluten-free? I've cked on the other ingredients already. Thanks!!! ...
  21. Robix- I definitely recommend staying away from products with any of the "grasses"....wheat grass, oat grass, what have you. It is next to impossible to be assured of processing procedures and that gluten containing portions of the plant didn't end up with the "grass" portion. Steer clear of products containing them to be safe.
  22. pacific rice milk is good in vanilla or plain. its what i use every morning on cereal. lundberg and full circle orginial are gluten-free too. don't use rice dream (not gluten-free). i actually prefer rice over almond milk...its all about personal taste. soy milk is pretty good, but doesn't agree with me
  23. I contacted them on the gluten-free status of their products and got this response. I use some of their salsas, refried beans, canned green chilis... Was pleasantly surprised they are working on a list... Dear Jen, Thank you for taking the time to contact us. We always appreciate hearing from our valued consumers. Although gluten is not considered...
  24. OH MY GOSH! Those are my flippin' most favorite things ever!! My dad makes every year for Christmas. We give much of it away and I keep some in the freezer for myself (or did). OH-they are so good! Will have to try and recreate gluten-free this year...
