    ARCHIVED Lent

Well, I gave up gluten and dairy! I'm such a saint !! Ha ha!
  5. Me too Please! I love sorbet, but if I could get something more like ice cream…that would rock!
  6. CK out nuvaring--it is great--no gluten or dairy, has less hormones than regular bc pills, so some folks have less side effects. I love it--works great!
  7. So jealous of you Kasey's mom!! For others...well, to search for a co-op you would first need to have one in mind. You could search United Buying Clubs, that I gave the link for. This site isn't complete, but does list some by state you could ck out: Open Original Shared Link Or this site: Open Original Shared Link On the same topic there is a great...
  8. AH! I want to try those so freakin' bad...but can't find them anywhere yet
  9. Co-ops are large 'buying groups' that usually give greatly reduced prices to the buyers. I love them! I am in one for products, and would like to join a food one...but there isn't one start locally. Depending on the co-op, they can be a bit frustrating administratively...especially if you are in charge of it. ie. lots of them operate on a monthly minimum...
  10. Ah! That's the really annoying part of it all! Judy--Lynne too huh? Hey, are you chatting with on the phone? If so--ask her what kind of music she likes (and hates!) and let me know
  11. Another good experience with this flour. I made chocolate chip cookies using the classic Tollhouse Recipe last weekend...subbed this flour. They turned out great! And Celiacs and non-Celiacs alike both enjoyed them at the party this weekend. Had a non-Celiac take a bag home too! Seemed just like regular cookies...
  12. Interesting on the makeup too. I am using Bare Escentuals now...can't track it for sure...but I don't think I had this problem pre-BE makeup. I don't think it is causing it per se, but feel like something must have changed in my lifestyle to prompt the rosacea coming out. For you with wine--is it all alcohol? Anyone notice chocolate? B/c of all...
  13. Glad the CT came back ok. Good luck with the colonscopy. I had one quite a few years ago and was no biggie. I have 3 good friends who have had one too and we were talking about making t-shirts for ourselves that said "Probe this!" Gross, but funny
  14. I also stay away from their skincare line... On that note--has anyone tried their new Light Face Lifting Duo?? Was curious about it: Open Original Shared Link
  15. Cassidy- You may want to try and contact the country club yourself. I had a better experience with a country club vs a caterer...I think being on their own turf and more requests for 'special meals' enabled them to offer me a gluten-free meal.
  16. Erica- Yeah, that kind of bacteria transfer was my one guess.... Perhaps the diaphragm materials were just irritating to you also.... I think the nuvaring would definitely be worth a try!
  17. I haven't heard of that issue with the nuvaring. Not sure why the diaphragm would--perhaps transfer of bacteria?? Anywho, I do not think the nuvaring should cause that problem for you. There is a 'risk' of vaginal infections, but I don't know anyone who has had any issue using it.
  18. First off, remind him its your body And that it is no biggie. I have several friends who use it and all of them, including myself, have no issues with the ring and sex. Don't notice it on either end... It may take a few times to figure out how you are putting it in, but it stays in there pretty darn good... Good luck, hope everything goes smoothly...
  19. Natalie- I like those stickers too
  20. As Tiffany said, if you are going to write it on the card, you must follow-up. And don't assume that the cooks-in-training understanding food allergies... Personally I say wedding protocol depends on the situation--if I'm not in a wedding, then I typically bring my own food, and/or snack before. If it is a close friend, maybe I will make arrangements to...
  21. True that...we don't even really know all the possible effects yet... Dangerous Grains is a good book for delving into this matter....
  22. Sorry to hear your levels haven’t returned to normal. You poor thing--you've got your share! The things I’ve seen on prolonged enzyme issues are autoimmune hepatitis or otherwise, gallbladder, certain herbs and medicines, fatty liver (can’t imagine you having that! It is mostly in overweight folks with high cholesterol/triglycerides...) It seems like ...
  23. Yeah, even before going gluten-free...I didn't eat much bread, meat on salads, not sandwiches, and I always eat my hamburgers w/o a bun--like a steak with A1 sauce, knife and fork instead
  24. It absolutely can be affected, if you still have villous atrophy or absorption problems and are not on a strict gluten-free diet. However, absorption should technically return to normal after the gluten-free diet (for a period of time). I switched to the nuvaring b/c of that reason (and also b/c of lower levels of hormones than oral contraceptives).
  25. Liz- You know what made me curious?? My doc mentioned and I read also, that steriods (as in treatment for psoriasis) can cause rosacea. Interesting...I wonder if my meds may have helped trigger this rosacea... Mamaw- I understand.... I told my mom, well if I feel crappy on the outside at least I can not look crappy too! These 'mysterious' types...
