  1. My favorite is Sunflower!! Local owned by a large company w/good buying power so all the organic/natural foods are much cheaper than Wild Oats or a regular grocery. I do go to Wild Oats for a few products, and Trader Joes on occasion. I also order from gluten-free Pantry and gluten-free Trading Company.
  2. Just got some Schar Frollini cookies in the mail. They are really good--and taste really similar to the butter cookies you can get in the tins at Christmas time. Yum-give them a try! They don't have dairy in them either. Slightly sweet. Would make a good formal entertaining cookie too. Just wanted to share! PS-gluten-free Trading Company and the...
  3. That is disappointing Tiffany... Glad you wrote. Some comments are better off kept to oneself!
  4. For me, I don't cheat on dairy free. Not worth it--it means starting the next day and for several weeks my whole system will get backed up...which causes other issues, including frustration! I also don't cheat b/c aside from my noticeable symptoms...I wonder if dairy is causing issues in ways I don't notice. Eventually I will try dairy again to see if...
  5. Brian-- I saw you were eating gluten for about a week before your tests again. Its hard to say how different your results would have been if you had not been gluten-free previously...however, going gluten-free for any period of time before getting tested can skew the results. "When i was on the diet for 16 days my stomach may have felt better but...

    ARCHIVED Las Vegas

While in Vegas I ate at PF Changs, (there's an outback too) and Olives at the Bellagio, which did a great job for me. If you go--make sure you get a seat out of the balcony. Very fun. I had lunch at one of the restaurants at the Wynn (can't remember which) and they did a good job too. I would say most of the restaurants at the nicer casinos would be...
  8. I had my first one last week--they are good, rich!
  9. Chrissy- So sorry to hear about your daughter. I hope you had some people who are supporting you--that you can fall back on right now. How long has she been gluten-free?
  10. Hmmm...I'll ck our Tivo and see what it says...
  11. Yeah, a little "Welcome-Into-The-World-Baby-Celebratory" Drink!!
  12. Susan- Not sure about nut CC--you could call or e-mail Authentic Foods--I'm sure they could tell you. Cin- Unfortunately the bag doesn't list ratios or amounts...but the ingredients are, in order, Brown Rice Flour, Sweet Rice Flour, Tapioca Starch, Cornstarch, Potato Starch, Xanthan Gum.
  13. Deb...that was sweet... My dh doesn't have Celiac, so does that mean I can still yell at him for farting and burping?? Erin-- That stinks girl (literally I guess!) I feel for you though!! I wish you would start improving... Did I write in my pm to you about looking for other food issues besides gluten--like dairy for starters? Can't remember...
  14. Patti--You rock for sending that to Vincent
  15. Judy- Yup, same amount of flour--if 2 cups regular flour, then sub 2 cups of this gluten-free blend. Kimberly- The blend I mention above has the mix of flours and the xanthan gum already in it--so no need for 'mixing' your own blend. Mamaw- It may be cheaper to make your own blend...but the ease of this one and the success I've had makes me...
  16. I'd say its up to what fits you 'as a cook.' Personally, I haven't used my gluten-free cookbooks so much. I prefer to use the original recipes and alter them to be gluten-free. Oftentimes the recipes and food just seem better. I have also been able to use my old non-gluten-free baking books w/a gluten-free flour mix. My biggest frustration with different...
  17. Judy--Lynne pmed with music, so I'm good to go on that now. But, send me her #. I told her I'll have to visit her somtime--only 2 hrs away. Too bad we can't all lunch together! Lunching Ladies ? for ya'll--- When you eat something that is a trigger how long does it take to flare-up? And, is your rosacea more like flushing or pimply? Have you...
  18. I like Wood chuck too Christine--they're good. Ever had a Strongbow? Something about them is so good--I could drink like water
  19. so it this stuff really really good? and kasey's mom--does the ice cream with it taste pretty good? am debating about getting some...would have to order online $$
  20. I would also recommend a cider...bit sweeter but would still be good... My favorite gluten-free cider is definitely Strongbow: Open Original Shared Link A liquor store should have them, never seen them in a grocery store.
  21. hey friend!! couple of thoughts on the situation. if it was me i would first see if i could call the facilities or caterer holding the banquet and verify the prime rib is safe (ck on marinades, how it is cooked) and then see if i could get plain, steamed veggies instead of the other food. if they are unwilling to help, then i would probably bring some...
  22. Ah! So glad you like it! The stuff is good...was using it last night on my cracked hands--need spring! I will send you the recipe. I will see my dad tommorrow and get it from him then and post this weekend.
  23. how about meatballs? they are easy to make gluten-free...and my dad has a great tangy/spicy sauce that is a family tradition. i could send to you if you like.
  24. I also would stay away from the products. for me, if I feel any doubt, or feel like I need an indepth explanation to understand 'why' its safe...its a sign for me to steer clear
