  1. My recommendation...every "blender" I ever bought could never withstand the things I wanted it to do. They could not puree fine enough or chop ice well. They burned out easily. I ended up buying a smoothie maker, not a blender, and it has worked perfectly! Purees beautifully, chops ice...works great! It was pretty cheap, much cheaper than the blender...
  2. I was reading this article recently and thought I would post. The study is a few years old but the info is interesting. Study of 158 Celiacs...11 of which had refractory sprue, 5 of those ended up getting intestinal lymphoma. Anywho, thought this would interest some of you--on recovery and refractory. Thanks! Histologic Follow-Up of People With...

    ARCHIVED Headache

One thing to investigate as a possible cause for headaches, especially after changing your diet is blood sugar. You should be able to rule out or confirm this by keeping a food/symptom journal and seeing when your headaches come on. I get headaches if I have gone too long w/o eating. Either way a food/symptom journal may help you find the cause.
  5. Good Lord--I wonder how that happened! I have looked at them in the store several times...but never tried yet. Think I'll wait a few more months! Thanks Tiffany!
  6. Yvonne, well the bit about being mediterranean is really annoying! Well, I also agree that if you are convinced gluten is harmful to you, then don't go back eating. However, I would definintely pursue a plan of action with 1. the constipation and 2. the liver/gilberts. Did you ever try going off dairy or doing a rotation diet to ck on it or soy, or the...
  7. Carol- Hello! Unfortunately iron supplements do little to help those with serious anemia recover. I took supplements for nearly a year--literally. After my GP continued to throw iron pills at me, I insisted I be referred to a hematologist. By then I some of the lowest numbers she had ever seen. I had an iron infusion which was a great treatment...I...
  8. Read this short thread on arrythmias... Open Original Shared Link I post my own experience and answer on the issue...and there are some other thoughts too. 10. That's great news Mulljac! And yeah, just more proof that everyone reacts differently. Still waiting for mine to disappear!
  11. PS--Forgot...the price I quoted is from the gluten-free Mall online.
  12. I am also frustrated for you Rachel. After years of suffering I thought the gluten-free diet was the ticket with my Celiac--like "I've finally figured it out! Everything is up from here now!" However, I seem to have more problems now then before at times. That is frustrating--for you it has definitely been like peeling back the layers of an onion--one...
  13. It really depends person to person on how quickly you will respond to the gluten-free diet if you have Celiac or gluten intolerance. Some people who need to remove gluten from their diet do have negative test results. Researchers/doctors are just now beginning to understand that there is a spectrum of gluten intolerance, which includes many different manifestations...
  14. PS--I figured out the price for the flour: $10.32 for 3 lbs

  18. tribal- hi ! no, this test is not for celiac. it is for anemia. you can read more about it here: Open Original Shared Link it doesn't hurt, just a quick, simple blood test. also, if you have been gluten-free for a period of time, it will affect your celiac tests--depending on how long you've been gluten-free, they may make them return negative.
  19. Also my 2 favs--Wheat Free Worry Free--great overview on Celiac and the lifestyle, foods etc. Dangerous Grains is good too--more on the different kinds of damage gluten (and dairy) can cause and links to other diseases...MS, cancer etc.

  21. Julie-I cked and did not see any soy in the ingredients either!
  22. Markets are great. We were getting some dairy (for dh) and local eggs delivered to our door each week from a local farm, but gas prices drove them to stop delivering However, Sunflower, our local natural market just started carrying local eggs--much cheaper than the other brands. They sell out right a way. I thought that was a great idea...
  23. For me it can...I would say at the least a week...2 weeks is pretty standard but can get longer. It really sets me back...and takes my system a while to get back on track. W/o dairy I am pretty good but will need to break out the psyllium every couple of weeks for a day or two... Hope you feel better soon! That is such an annoying feeling!!!
  24. Thats wonderful! I'm sure you will do a great job! Makes my heart glad to hear you are continuing to improve...
