  1. I would tell your friend about Namaste mixes too--they are really good, and free of what you have mentioned. They don't say egg free--but I don't think there is egg in the mix, just the recipe.   2. Just make sure if you get tested you are consuming gluten... meaning, don't go gluten-free for several weeks and then get tested--the results wouldn't be accurate.
  3. The lists I have seen list woodchuck as okay and hornsby's as not. However, I will say when I e-mailed woodchuck their answer was a bit shady, but it may have been a CYA. I actually love Strongbow the most--and I have to admit, I love those tall cans too
  4. You definitely have some celiac symptoms. The easiet route is to start with the blood test. Go here to see info on getting tested, it is an easy blood test most any doctor can have run.   6. yeah, i had to get rid of all the tigi products i used-they all have wheat in them. one shampoo had 3 kinds of wheat in it!

  16. Katie-your scalp sounds alot of like psoriasis... and no oats...even if they were ok to eat, they are pretty much always contaminated...
  17. one of my favorites gluten-free alcoholic bevs is Strongbow's hard cider...really good. rum and coke is another option, gin and tonic... when i went to wild oats on sunday there was a sign up that sad 'we are out of Barb's Tail beer' that made me laugh. the person who wrote the sign is definitely NOT a celiac!

  21. You'll really have to ck on everything that is made...gluten is all over Thanksgiving! We do a pitch in, so I have at least one or two things I can eat. You could always make your own gravy too. I made some mushroom gravy last week that turned out great.
  22. Shirley- I am loving those pictures you sent--they are so fun, and make me jealous. Hard work, but beautiful land and sense of freedom to enjoy... If you ever get anymore, send them along. I love the idea of the Christmas pics with the dogs! Perhpas I could do the same with cats? Okay, probably not... I am going to have my 2nd annual cookie exchange...
  23. it is hard to tell with the naked eye...and there is quite a range of damage that can be found--villi that are merely blunted (the tips are gone) to no villi in areas...
  24. i agree with what's been said here--you can't expect real weight gain until you have been vigilantly gluten-free for a while--no mistakes.
  25. It is really hard to not be supported by those we're close too--esp a spouse! Pre-diagnosis my fam and dh thought I was getting obsessed too with all my internet research...but I knew something was wrong, and that I wasn't just "type A" or "highstrung" like my dad said ! Until the diagnosis, and at times still, I have to keep some boundaries, as you mentioned...
