  1. what's inappropriate is eating foods that harm you. you may have to start being creative--bring snacks and food with you to friends houses and out to restaurants if people are not accomodating. they should understand. either way--etiquette isn't worth your health! healing really varies from person to person. my experience is it takes longer to heal...

    ARCHIVED Oranges

not sure why...for me i can't handle oj or an entire orange b/c of the acid--very upsetting to my stomach.
  4. Judy- interesting thoughts on developing diabetes... makes me wonder--maybe my skin is also worse b/c now i am absorbing more carbs, sugar etc...which is related to one of the theories for psoriasis. hmm...
  5. thanks girl! i am usually pretty disciplined and motivated...but i think i'm going to need some accountability on this one! i am hoping to make some scd baked goods this weekend to carry me through. still haven't been able to find the DCC. wish we could eat plain regular yogurt...
  6. hey if you vegas gals have any good restaurants (besides the obvious ones) near the strip pass them along...i'll be out there next month for a vaca at the bellagio.
  7. OOOOOO-I also would be likely to blame the Cipro. I took it once and had a terrible allergic reaction--terrible hives and itching, and had to go to the emergency room as well, steriods etc. Cipro causes allergic reactions in a lot of people. Be careful to not take any sulfa drugs either--I had an idiot doctor give me some and I reacted...they are related...
  8. i haven't had a knowledge pharmacist either. i did ask one about it and she asked me where she could get the info to have for others on gluten-free drugs. at least she was interested!
  9. i think most of us here agree with the issue of contamination and don't think its worth risking it. i also don't want to have to think about it. ie. when i'm washing my hair, i want to wash my hair, not be thinking 'i better not get any of this in my mouth !' i think now whenever i see wheat etc on a bottle i have no desire to use it. there are so many...
  10. November 2004...
  11. glad you're doing all right and that they found your polyp. all gone... hope the rest irons itself out girl. its over!!
  12. Depending on where you live, there are some food coops around where you can purchase gluten-free food at a greatly reduced price. You can also try and buy certain foods in season, ie. berries. You can make your own baked goods (muffins, cookies, brownies, layer bars, bread etc.) in bulk and freeze..that is cheaper than buying say, a box of gluten-free cookies...
  13. julie- SO glad to hear the news that you were diagnosed finally! i hate that stupid IBS diagnosis--i had the wrong one too. you are going to start feeling so much better. keep us updated!
  14. Hey there! I thought this would be an interesting question to ask. I also wonder because since going gluten-free my psoriasis has continually gotten worse. I am definitely gluten-free, and my last blood work came back normal. Perhaps my body is going crazy on my skin since it is no longer attacking my intestines?! I'm not sure...but wanted to see if...
  15. floridanative-- i hope he is right too!! still not better for me. but i think i will be going SCD after this weekend. keep me up on your progress!
  16. Tiffany- I was also BY FAR the youngest in the office when i had my colonoscopy. Everyone was in their 70s or above! On the blood...I'm not a doctor (so I'd recommend you run this by one)...but typically brighter blood means the bleeding is coming from the lower end of your intestines--like hemmorroids or an anal fissure (sounds gross i know!)...
  17. i eat mostly fresh, natural stuff. but i do go for mainline brands on condiments etc. desserts or mixes are all the gluten free brands of course. i rarely buy processed foods anymore from mainline brands. when i do i try to get organic.

    ARCHIVED New

kelly- glad you're doctor has reminded you of going gluten-free! you can do it with some patience and determination and you will find there are a ton of foods out there that you like just as well! i encourage you to ck your products too--ie. shampoos, lotions and to switch those products out for gluten-free ones. staying positive--for me it helps to find...
  19. i'm not sure what you mean by cooked...but i made homemade granola with some of the following and you could make them into bars...these also might be potential ingredients for you... any nuts--i like almonds, cashews, mac nuts, peanuts, ses seeds, puffed rice cereal, perky's nutty rice, dried fruits you might like--raisins, dates, blueberries, i then coati...
  20. i used the soap and water routine for aphids (per shirley's advice) and it worked like a charm this summer
  21. Beverly- Is this the tea you were trying to verify? Open Original Shared Link If so, it is gluten-free. If its not the tea, you can look for it on the website. CS will state whether it is gluten-free or not.
  22. i think carolyn's idea was a great one! shopping for new things for me or surprises would be a frustrating and a bit nerve-racking task for my dh. i think b/c he is your husband, he has a certain level of responsiblity to care for you, be aware, educate himself... but alas, that sort-of thing is hard for some guys. my husband listens well to what i say...
  23. amanda- i ck on the brand before i have tea. celestial seasonings is good--they mark gluten-free on their packages if it is so.
