  2. be cautious of the 'gluten free bible'. there have been quite a few discussions on the boards here about that book. many feel that there is misinformation given in it. i've never heard a complaint about danna's book though...
  3. bridget-- if i was you, i would also read 'wheat free, worry free' by danna korn. it will educate you on all the aspects of celiac and living gluten free. i ordered mine from amazon but you could get it in a bookstore too.
  4. i would highly recommend you read 'wheat free, worry free' by danna korn. excellent resource--will give you a big overview and details of the disease, diet etc. it will educate you greatly. you can order it on amazon or in most bookstores.
  5. i second on bard's tail... in the meantime, i recommend strongbow cider--excellent. best hard cider i've ever had... and gluten-free

  10. i'd recommend burt's bees too (they have a gluten-free list online you can ck), california baby (all their lotion are gluten-free), aubrey organics (call to ck on lotions for sure).

  13. thyroid diseases are one of the most commonly linked with celiac disease. there are quite a few here who have varoius thyroid diseases.
  14. your kids do sound great! and i do think you have the right attitude...many moms don't know where their kids end and they begin! your sons sounds like he will make a great husband to some woman one day--how thoughtful! one of my mom's secret dreams is to have a gazebo some day

  17. I'm not sure how your palm would work (what do you have?)...but in my treo, I have a 'cocuments to go' program where I can transfer word docs from my pc to my palm. Then I gave view them, and make changes etc, like in a "mini" word program. The one potential issue is that the file size could be huge for the silly yaks...not sure. If it was, you could try...

  19. hey! welcome--glad you've joined us that is a bit of hard question. it can vary person to person. many times is depends on how long you've suffered from the disease. many here felt noticeably better within a few months. as for myself, i am about 9 months gluten-free and am still waiting to feel a great improvement in my energy and muscle pain. i think...
  20. Don't be worried! I bet the food will be delicious! We have gluten-free dinners etc at our house often. Don't talk about it once they get there, and I bet a lot of them won't even think about it. Hope you have fun!

  23. hmmm, are you anemia? that is a common symptom of anemia. and anemia is frequent with celiac.
