ARCHIVED Igg And Iga Tests
jenvan replied to giraffelover's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
One thing I learned recently... IgAs typically tend to respond quickly to gluten...meaning, they will be the first to increase, and the first to decrease in response to a gluten-free diet. IgGs are slower responders and will be the last to increase in response to gluten and the last to decrease in response to a gluten-free diet. ie. I am 8/9 mos gluten... -

ARCHIVED Kix Cereal
jenvan replied to Hearts's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Where are you located? If you live out of the US--you may have a different Kix formula. The ones I've seen here say wheat starch as well as oats. Either way, I'd stay away. Hope you get results soon! -
ARCHIVED Kix Cereal
jenvan replied to Hearts's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Kix has wheat and oats in it...so don't eat ! ps--some Celiacs react to oats...and even if certain research is correct that some Celiacs can tolerate oats...they are almost always contaminated. so for now, most recommend, stay away from oats. i do not eat oats in any form. -
that's great to hear! we are getting a new store down the street soon called sunflower market i think. its in AZ and CO... supposed to be lower priced natural type foods. hopefully they'll have lower priced gluten-free foods too!

ARCHIVED Red Tender Patches Of Skin On Scalp
jenvan replied to surferdude's topic in Dermatitis Herpetiformis
It also sounds more like psoriasis to me. I have it on my scalp. It has different stages, one of them being red and tender, exposed spots, another being the heavy scaling and flaking with some itching. I say go to a dermo and have it cked out/diagnosed. Psoriasis can be an annoying disorder. I have been gluten-free since Feb and mine has not improved... -

ARCHIVED Are Han's Chicken Sausages Gluten Free?
jenvan replied to Jnkmnky's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications

jenvan replied to jmengert's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
This wouldn't really be for stuffing ... but wanted to mention Rice Expressions, since we're talking about rice...really good rice you microwave for 3 minutes, they have brown, white, spanish/mexican and several others. They are good...say gluten free on package. You keep them in the freezer. Open Original Shared Link -

ARCHIVED I See The Light At The End Of The Tunnel!
jenvan replied to Matilda's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Matilda- I'm encouraged by your good week. I pray it is the first of many. Ever considered keeping a food/symptom journal to see if there is a correlation to why you're feeling better? Hope the weight comes soon!! -
thanks for the info! guess this is where the pedal meets the metal. who is willing to sacrifice themselves for research ? i could use that $1,100. that's like 2 mos of gluten-free grocery bills !! so, i'm curious, is anyone going to try it?
-
It is not uncommon to go up and down. I am 9 mos gluten-free and still riding that rollercoaster. Sometimes it can be attributed to less sleep, more stress, different foods...other times there is no correlation, and who knows what your body is up to. In the scheme of things, you are still just beginning, and I am only really beginning to get some where...

ARCHIVED Puts Things Into Perspective
jenvan replied to Bonnie's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Yvonne- I also wanted to share a scripture that has given me comfort in times when some one close to me has passed... Psalm 116:15: Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his saints. I don't take the word saints here to mean literal saints, as in catholic idea... but the reminder that God has his eye on each person, and to see them fall... -
