  1. If its not contamination, perhaps its just a reaction to chocolate... I can't tolerate much chocolate...eat a piece, I have to bust it to the bathroom. Some of our systems just can't handle it, similar to other foods that may bother us, regardless of gluten.
  2. well, just getting to this post, as i've been out of town, and have skimmed it, hopefully not being to repetitive... frustratedneicey- there are some cheaper gluten-free options for you out there. 1st, go for whole foods, not processed. 2nd, sometimes it is cheaper to do your own bread or dessert baking rather than buying gluten-free baked goods. i will...
  3. Maureen- If your daughter is merely intolerant of gluten, not a Celiac, then having gluten on occasion means she will suffer from any symptoms or discomfort ingesting gluten causes her. If she has Celiac, consuming gluten on occasion will continue to damage her body and put her at an elevated risk of other diseases and cancer. If she is a Celiac, she must...

  6. lizzy--pls NOTE, not all ciders are gluten-free. i suggest you always check. manufacturers can have different practices. some i know to be safe are woodchuck and strongbow. one i know is not safe is hornsby's... maybe this gluten-free alcohol list below will help you too: https://www.celiac.com/st_prod.html?p_prodid=271 Open Original Shared Link https...

  15. i also like Kinnikinnick's bread. but if you are looking for soft texture, and want it that badly, you will probably have to make it. i think the "softest" gluten-free bread is manna from anna. it is a mix, but not hard to make. ck it out here: Open Original Shared Link

shayesmom-- sorry to hear of your father too. cancer is so frustrating, hateful and frightening all at once... my boss's father recently died from cancer and said his father and mom mentioned, knowing now what chemo etc. would be like, that he would not have chosen it. also..i have a good friend who's father has had cancer 3 times. it has been quite...
  18. dang it! just wrote this post and accidentally deleted it! arg! claire-interesting info on pasturizing...my dh doesn't like it. ie. he hates cider that has been pasturized...think it tasted very different than unpasturized. he also hates the warning labels they have to put on unpasturized cider although last time he drank some...he had D for 2...

  21. hapi2bgf, i agree that if you are gluten-free and healed...it shouldn't be an issue. i have chosen to switch at this point, b/c the nuvaring uses a lot less hormones... the less the better i say!
  22. I will be fascinated to see what comes from all of this... I think a large portion of Celiacs would jump on the chance for a pill. Probably b/c it would appear easier for one... At this point, I would have to say I would not choose it myself...but not exploring the possibly would be foolish I think...
  23. You should write the magazine a note--and tell them about Celiac too Even articles on allergies not relating to Celiac mean awareness of all these things is growing...
  24. Hello and Welcome! After going gluten-free, I ended up getting some new symptoms and had worsening of some of my others. Until someone has been gluten-free for a while, and really experienced some healing in the intestines, ups and downs can be normal. I am 9 mos gluten-free, and still experience ups and downs...you have several other issues in addition...
  25. Off and on issues as a child, but especially from junior high on. I've always had health "issues"
