  5. Carrie- Each person is different, however, I highly recommend you try keeping a food journal for several weeks. I think its a bit unusual you haven't noticed any improvement in your bowels. Ideas: other food intolerances like dairy, soy, eggs, fructose; unspected contamination--like in your shampoos, makeup, lotions etc. A food/symptom journal can help...

  7. yeah, that's true. herbs can be "subjective." i stick with two brands mostly...one that my husband's mom has worked with for years. we trust the purity of their products.
  8. have you tried Amy's soups? they have several that are gluten-free and say so on the can. also, i love shelton's chicken tortilla. also says gluten-free on back of can. i get these at my local natural food store, or amy's is at my regular grocery too. i'll find the recipe and post! have you tried Amy's soups? they have several that are gluten-free...

  13. Shirley...That is a good point. There is an amount of risk in choosing to take it either way. I felt like it was worth taking last week...it is such an amazing supplement! I wonder about other "immune boosters" like goldenseal etc. too...
  14. poker princess- that is true on the taxes. there was a thread on that a while back. can't remember the name now... there weren't many of us who tried to do it though. i believe you have to reach a certain $$ limit to claim and doing so puts you at a risk for being auditing etc...so you have to be very "organized!"

  16. Linda, I am like Claire, a big "seasoner" too--mostly b/c my dh likes LOTS of "taste." betty's cream of ___ recipes are good. I've never made one and eaten it as plain soup, I always use it in recipes, like casseroles etc. I can post it if you like.
  17. Oooo..others that like meatloaf! I sub a mixture of fine corn flake crumbs and crushed plain lay's stacks. i have a great recipe...but its at home right now. my dh abhors meatloaf and i was determined to find a good recipe. i found one, made it and he really like it! i think some of the keys are using a combo of hamburger and ground sausage in mine...

    Wow... I believe the effexor... I have had doctors recommend antid's to me many times...and it has never been an appropriate recommendation for me. Quite a few Celiacs struggle with depression...sometimes b/c chronic illnesses/pain can cause it. How are you doing now? Have you been diagnosed?
  19. I assume you mean Aleve? It is gluten free. However, I will note that it is rough on some people's stomachs and has been known to cause ulcers. So if your stomach is also bothering you, you may want to try tylenol. Just a thought...
  20. tinkerbell-- that sounds miserable you could try an antidiarrheal... i don't take meds myself...just drink sprite--it has always calmed down my system. i know gingerale or ginger root. i'm sure others will have ideas too... this post might be encouraging to you Open Original Shared Link and this one might give you some ideas to help with...

  22. glad you're better Liz. saw the lefse--will try it, new thing to me cookie recipes are appreciated. i have a few i am going to try for this week--i am having my annual christmas cookie exchange on sunday. would love to make some gluten-free cookies to blow my non-gluten-free friends socks off!

  24. what kind of vitamin water did you drink? did you get on meds you took for gluten, just in case? if you had no gluten...the prep itself may have thrown your system off...the ducolax and laxatives are make your colon spasm, so that might be part of it... hope you feel better asap!
