    ARCHIVED I Did It!

B--Congrats Congrats! Be proud--you had a lot of overcome. Hope your holidays are good this year, even as you miss your mom... Your story is encouraging to us...especially when I think about going back to school too!
  2. Wow. That is flippin' rude! If they've been pretty supportive before, probably the 'mob mentality' got to them all... I'm sure you do feel awful. Just remember, their actions are not a reflection on you, but on themselves and their obvious lack of understanding. By the grace of God (as I like to say), they themselves are not also Celiacs. Offices...
  3. Jessica- Did you catch Tiffany's post? I was going to ask the same thing--you mean the treats, not the 'snap, crackle and pop' ? Select flavors of Han's chicken sausages (not all are gluten-free) lentils Grandma Ferndon salsas (raspberry chiptole-yum!) natural peanut butter apples boy, that's a random list.
  4. I don't know of a menu-mailer...but of some places to get those recipes you are talking of. And of two magazines that are a great resource and one that always has a lot of recipes. I can give details if you are interested.
  5. "ocean" of swedish fish is that a pun?
  6. Monica- Glad to hear you are feeling a bit better. 100% can be hard, but I encourage you to keep plugging along! If your family is contributing to you being glutened...they may need to make some compromises for you. I understand about chronic illnesses and pain--they certainly cause depression and despair. They are hard to 'get out from under.' The...
  7. heck yeah they are! yum
  8. I'd like to see the article too. It would be shocking to me if yeast was #1 and not dairy or soy....
  9. thanks guys! its seems in my life, when i start to get down and discouraged (and when i 'remember' my fibro pain every night as i get into bed!) i get reminders of how blessed i am. over thanksgiving while on vaca, i randomly watched a bit of the today show--i think that's what it was ...but they interviewed kyle maynard, a young man who was born with...
  10. Monica--I know there can be a "waiting" period where your body adjusts to a drug, but why keep taking it if it is only making things worse? You mentined 'someone' gave it to you a while back--a friend or a doctor? I think that makes a difference... Also, some individuals can not tolerate certain anti-depressant drugs etc., regardless of dosage...just like...
  11. moon girl-how long have you been gluten-free?
  12. Abby ! HI Let us know about those little hand warmer thingys Donna- Go here to read on anemia test. 3rd paragraph highlights what you should have done. If you need more info on anemia etc, let me know. I am one of the ones who dealt with it for a while: Open Original Shared Link Thyroid: go here to see a list of the tests. If you see...

  14. Donna- No, doesn't sound like you have reynaud's right now. Just something to know about for the future...I developed mine last year, but had always had freezing hands and feet. Tiffany had some good ideas on prompting circulation too. Also, another thought...for my freezing hands, I use fingerless gloves at work...keeps my hands and fingers warmer while...

  16. can't remember THE last one..but the last few days before i had pasta, homemade soda bread, thai food out and a sam adam's oktoberfest i think.
  17. Ev- 1st off--good job keeping a food log! It is also helpful to mark down your symptoms as well, then you can recognize patterns. (You may already be doing this...) As for the D...sometimes its gluten, sometimes its just a delicate digestive system being thrown off by a combo of foods, spices, stress, touch of the flu, etc. We don't need to blame every...
  18. I experienced that intially too. One thing is to make sure you are eating a good balance of protein and carbs...It's possible that your new diet is not 'filling you up' as it should.
  19. ha ha! we'll i've heard it from both of you ck this out--says about the same thing: Open Original Shared Link
  20. Unless you are new to the gluten-free diet, which usually leads to weight gain (due to mal-absorption), I would suspect the lexapro. Those types of drugs, and specifically lexapro frequently cause weight gain. I have a friend who experienced that while on lexapro. Are you noticing yourself eating more or 'feeling' hungry more often? Or only the weight...
  21. You could get cked out for anemia, if its a possibility. My feet and hands are always cold, esp this time of year. If you ever get reynaud's there are some helpful hints to combat numbness and swelling. I have that, but after realizing what it was, it can usually be controlled.
  22. thyroid issues, anemia/low-iron, recent surgery? all possible causes for hair loss
