  3. Are you positive you are gluten-free? Not until I was completely gluten-free, no accidents did my constipation begin to go away. Dairy also makes me constipation too. Go here to read several posts I made last week on constipation and helping get rid of it: Open Original Shared Link It's a lot of info, so easier to post thread.
  4. Dani- I do several things when I go on vaca: -Find local restaurants with gluten-free menus (like pf changs etc) and local wild oats or health food stores -Contact a local support group for area tips etc if there is one -Pack food! I take lots of snacks and I take things I can supplement a meal out for me--say, a thai kitchen noodle bowl (all I need...
  5. Tina-- Welcome! We're glad you've stumbled upon us here. First off, def let us know when you get the results back. Celiac can be a hard diagnosis to get b/c people have such varied symptoms. It can be difficult to transition to a gluten-free life...but a myriad of us have done it...and if its necessary for you, you will also figure it out. Some things...
  6. I have cleaned my thoroughly and have no problems. The mechanical parts you are speaking of are harder to clean...you could try using a toothbrush to scrub those parts.
  7. Becky-So glad you are noticing improvement! It is a process for sure. And it is very true that once you find out about Celiac, it seems like a whole new world is opened up to you--that's how I felt. Keep us updated...
  8. Mr. Bam Bam Your wife and I have talked off and on trying to figure this stuff out... You can get magnesium w/o calcium, just buy itself. For me, it produced more D, but she may or may not have the same experience....if she tries it, just take a little bit. I guess the ideas I have are mostly on the zelnorm post. Besides fiber in the foods etc. I vote...

    ARCHIVED Glutened

oh okay...i wasn't sure if you bought a premade kit or did from scratch--good for you making that! so you are now completely gluten-free, post thanksgiving? since you've been good since then, seems like the contamination is likely. sometimes i feel like eating out will always be a gamble. ! so are you attributing all those other episodes to contamination...
  10. You could try another brand of corn meal to experiment. Personally, corn meal would just about kill me--corn gives me terrible terrible stomaches...so that might be one thing to look into...Can you eat other forms of corn? popcorn, corn chips?
  11. me also! although, unfortunately i do most of my shopping on saturdays, when places are closed

Liz- Hey ! You aren't a slow learner Its more that there is so much info to know! It is interesting b/c people have such varied reactions...some of us don't even have much of a noticeable reaction immediately after getting gluten either. It sounds like you might have come in contact with some contamination. Had your son handled that lego after handling...

    ARCHIVED Nuvaring

Glad this thread came back up--I wanted to post on nuvaring... I started it about 3 weeks ago and so far its great! I don't notice it at all--(its also not a prob. during sex : ) for those who are curious, and I haven't noticed any other issues. Caligirl--sorry you aren't having luck with it though! They are all one size...but some women have different...

Dani- Cool pic of wedding cake! I am a fan of the square cakes. Mine was similar to the one in the pic. Pretty simple with a little piping on edges and a monogram with small bouquet laid across the top. I was married pre-gluten-free, so we had a regular cake-spice...it was good This site has some good tips on it for constipation: Mentions other...

If the blood was bright red then it means it comes from the lower end of your colon--like with hemmoroids. If it is dark blood...that is time for real concern, because the bleeding is higher up in the intestines. Hemmoroids can get pretty bad, bad enough that you will end up with what looks like a fair amount of blood in the toliet. It is painful to go...
  17. I love cookie presses. Depending on what yours is like--they can take some muscle to use! I haven't used my post gluten-free, but glad to hear some of you have had success. I have Grandma's--the one we used to make sugar cookies when I was growing up. I used it to make sugar cookies for my cookie exchange last year and they turned out great--they always...

  19. Nice info from shayesmom...a technical version of leaky gut...but just for clarification, it is the same phenomenon I was speaking of. Glad to hear your exema is better Patty...makes sense! Exema can be caused by food allergies and the like.

Well, I don't want to go up against the famed Dr. Green!! I know, I'm not a doctor--yet! But I'll throw out some input b/c I was on zelnorm pre-diagnosis--sorry if its long! First thing first--how long have you been gluten-free for? I assume constipation is one of your main symptoms? That was one of my main issues, and so before I was diagnosed I took...
  21. That's great to hear! I'll add to that... I was in Vegas over Thanksgiving at we ate at Olives in the Bellagio and they were great with my gluten-free meal. Props to them too !
  22. Dani-- I strongly encourage you to stay away from the correctol. As I mentioned, taking laxatives that frequently will only mess you up more. Psyllium is natural fiber...not synthetic and it doesn't create dependency or side effects like a drug/laxative would. Psyllium bulks up stools and carries them out. I would start taking it immediately, and stick...
  23. Berneses-- Thanx for the site--I'm going to bkmk and read over later (I think I am one of the few people in Indy working this week!) Nancy- My heart aches for you and your situation--how alone that must feel at times! But you are such a great example to the rest of us on attitude. Most would probably let bitterness and resentment set in...and let that...
  24. "robot spamming" ! that sounds like something out of "Blade Runner" to me
  25. I've also tried to take on the philosophy more--good advice I think!
