  1. here is one of the longer lists i've seen: Open Original Shared Link
  2. I can't speak for all the products, but I got rid of all their products b/c the ones I had all contained oat, and I wanted to stick with products that were all safe and all-natural.
  3. Nancym-- Weird abdominal issues are the name of the game for Celiacs...but you can keep up with a GI doc and they can rule cancer etc out if you are really concerned about it. And if symptoms persist without improvement I would go to a doctor to be on the safe side. What are your symptoms exactly? Some of mine changed initally after going gluten-free...
  4. From what I have read and learned...having Celiac, and having Celiac induced "Leaky Gut Syndrome" can definitely make you more likely to develop other food intolerances. If that theory holds, I would think as you improve and your intestines heal, that that risk should be reduced. With leaky gut, food proteins etc. can leak through the gut wall into the...
  5. I think absolutely. I have it on my scalp and my father has it severely all over his body too! That's a heck of a coincidence--we should compare case histories on our dads! I have some article I can send you re: the connection if you pm me. I'll have to dig them up. For me, just like everything else it seemed...my psoriasis became much worse after going...
  6. here is burt's bee's non-gluten-free list, below. bridge tried their products and said due to CC she has a reaction. i have only used the products rarely. in my above post--several of the brands have completely gluten-free lines--i went back up and made sure i marked which ones have all gluten-free products. Hi Jen, Thank you for contacting Burt...
  7. Brian- Welcome! Something I found helpful while initially 'recreating' my diet were the safe and forbidden ingredient lists. You can take them with you when you go shopping as you get accustomed to reading labels. They are here: https://www.celiac.com/st_main.html?p_catid=12 Don't forget to ck your shampoos and tolietry items for gluten too.
  8. Donna- My dh calls me an internet nerd now since I spend so much time here on the forum and other places But the time for researching is worth it, as you said!
  9. Tiffany- contaminated or recycled plane water--nasty! I agree with the sentiments on Wheat Free Worry Free-my rec for a great resource on Celiac!
  10. NOT the same thing--and I would have a hard time trusting a doc who thought so. Not sure if this allergist will really be a help to you. To add further to what's been said, I had a conventional IgE allergy test and an IgG intol test. The IgE test came back normal for all things--no allergies. The IgG came back high for a myriad of foods--including gluten...
  11. Wow girl...sounds like you are really getting 'backed up'...not to be gross! I think that is a big problem. I was similar before going gluten-free...and I am a firm believer that not going daily for most people is an issue--sign of poor health or a problem going on. I did not feel well when I was in that state--and I didn't really even notice it till I...
  12. sprite, 7up okay.... what brand of ice cream are you talking about? i would hate to say w/o knowing exactly. but as mentioned, the ones esp to watch out for are those with extra flavors and additions like cookies etc. ben and jerry's lists gluten ingredients on their labels and if you go to edy's website they list on each flavor whether gluten-free or...
  13. bknutson- can u get more specific with a log of what you are eating and a description of your symptoms?
  14. good for you cking into your products! i had to get rid of a ton when i went gluten-free. here is a list of what i use now, below: I definitely recommend Aubrey Organic products (fav is the Rosa Mosqueta shampoo). Just be sure to ck ingredients, I think most of the shampoos are gluten-free, but not the conditioners. They have lotions too. But as I...
  15. besides woodchuck, i love strongbow
  16. I think Kimberly gave some good suggestions. What exactly are you eating on a typical day and what specifically are your symptoms?
  17. Jessica- Go here to read Ben and Jerry's response to gluten free flavors: Open Original Shared Link
  18. I wouldn't wear one myself... Tips I know of are to drink lots of water while on the plane, no alcohol, bring your own food of course--I'd some protein and some fresh fruits (ie. orange, apple) and get a natural moisturizing nasal spray and use it before. One of the reasons airplanes could make some sick is b/c they are so drying---and when our mucous membranes...
  19. Don't quit! The struggles initally are worth the outcome! Can you give us more specific details in where you are struggling so we can offer some practical help? I really encourage you to stick with it! I have found that the most wise and influencial people in my life are those who have come through great struggles. I know at this moment is doesn't seem...
  20. Dan-definitely nix the cereal. Know that is does take a while to recover and for your intestines to heal though, and you have only been on the diet for a short time. So, even if you are 100% gluten-free, you may still have 'odd' stools. PS--Take a deep breath and don't be anxious. Most people make mistakes initially, as the diet is pretty complicated...
  21. Sprite. And some midel or enjoylife cookies, or glutano crackers--"like" saltines.
  22. Yup, luna def not gluten-free. Clif Nectar bars are gluten-free though. However, they do give disclaimer--that they can't guarantee they are always without contamination, so the choice is yours I have eaten them in the past. Alot of the gluten-free bars have too much fat for my liking...but there are quite a few out there. Another option are Dr. Bronner...
  23. Monica- Sounds like you have a full house and a full plate! Glad to hear He hasn't failed you yet...me neither I totally agree on not taking care of oneself--when I haven't taken time--I get run down, burned out and moody quickly! (My dh can vouch for that!) Merry Christmas!
  24. Amen to Jesus Lisa Your prayer for the new year could be perserverance. Maybe the verse from James 1 can become your verse for 06..."Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not...
