  1. Patti- Some of the "bars" I eat are Alpsnack--really yummy snack and Kettle Valley all fruit bars. Love those two. Ironed Out- I don't eat bread very much, a handful of times a month. I eat Kinnikinnick's italian white tapioca for that primarily. For pasta I also use Tinkyada--really like that, have that 2x a month maybe, 3 at the most. Cookies...
  2. Was going thru some articles recently, and wanted to encourage my friends to be careful with the oats..as I know some of you are experimenting with them Many of you remember the study done on Quaker, McCann's and Country Choice where they were all tested for gluten--all tested 10 to 90 times above the "legal" limit for gluten. But let's say you do get...
  3. I am prost. myself and have decided to opt out of communion for the time being until I discuss bringing in gluten-free bread in my church...however I literally just finished reading a study on a Catholic woman who was completely gluten-free, except for communion, and although her symptoms disappeared...her intestinal damage was still severe. Personally,...
  4. i'll have to try that stuff out....i adore their rice chips...
  5. i have also cked on and used wild oats and whole foods (my two favorites) as well as pacific's (tastes a little mayoish to me) and full circle (good tasting).
  6. Read the thread of B's diet --I just replied to the skin test idea etc.
  7. "Mr. B"-- So, Bernadette also cked on her products and medicines then, even over the counter meds, teas, gum...? Casein intolerance for me manifests in constipation when I eat any form of dairy...in the moment I can tolerate some amounts okay...but often times its not till a day or so later the ill effects begin to set in. So I posted recently to...

Julie--impaction--wow, that is bad! glad you're okay now!
  10. they may have changed their policy...but when i cked on stoneyfield the only kind they could say gluten-free for sure was the plain--that all the various flavors may or may not have had gluten involved in their processing. (Just cked their site) okay, I pasted info off their website below. they seem to changed their tune a bit since i last checked on them...
  11. ha ha wgibs! i have to say i was in wild oats buying cereal and this clerk came up to me and said whatever you do, don't buy the amaranth cereals--they are nasty!!! i laughed--i had tried some of the amarant products before and not liked them so much... but glad rachel likes them! my fav is also perky's nutty rice-yum! or erewhon's krispy rice with...
  12. It is true that tylenol has no real anti-inflammatory properties...advil etc is best for that. However, for the sake of my stomach and the fact that those meds have made me pretty sick in the past, I still with tylenol. I try and take it only when really necessary...
  13. no dairy (constipation) no caffeine or turkey (horrible abdominal pain) no soy (gas) no artifical sweetners or "diet" products (are very irritating to my GI) no corn (only in very small quantities very infrequently --produces abdominal pain)
  14. Eating out is risky--I try and keep it to a minimum. If you want to get tested for the other food intolerances, you won't need to eat gluten. How does she know she is lactose vs. casein intolerant? She may have told me in the past--but like I said, I can't remember off the top of my head. Did she do an experiment or ? PS-How does she know she can...
  15. oh, and there is always the SCD diet...worth a try. i think i've rec'd it to her before...
  16. I sent you an e-mail...
  17. I second what Tiffany said PS Tiffany--you are hoping to do research related to that? that would be great...I'd be very curious...
  18. That is so cool! She is a rockin' pastor's wife...way to be a servant
  19. my other recs--since i'm running out of ideas... red meat in moderation natural foods, as has been recommended no diet beverages--they can be very upsetting to the GI system (they are to mine) no milk products, lactose free or not, including yogurt (milk definitely makes me constipated) no coffee? it might be worth a try--coffee and reg tea's, decaf...
  20. zakismom- thanks for the info--sounds like your friend isn't doing really well... did they ever mention if they are on meds?
  21. My heart aches for Bernadette and how she is stuck in this place...and been there for a while. It can be an immensely dark place when you feel as if you have no control over your body. Depression is definitely a natural struggle for those with chronic illnesses. ...And often times you eventually feel like you've run out of perserverance. I am a practical...
  22. hmmm...i live in indy..so a bit far drive for you! but i know of a myraid of drs up here, in case you're ever looking for a specialist and willing to make a drive once. i'll see if i can think of anything in your area...
  23. Thnx guys...I have done some internet research, just didn't know if anyone here had it or knew someone who did. She is pretty miserable to say the least..and has some crohn's type symptoms...just trying to research and see where all these things might intersect....
  24. Thanks for the input... I did notice Freeda has their "tiny" size vitamin...I could pop a couple of those a day. Maybe I'll see how "tiny" they are! I do like the liquid vitamins...had one I loved, but couldn't trust it was gluten-free. Tried GNC's liquid multi--I thought the taste was so rancid, I literally felt nauseated every morning I took them. ...
  25. I agree with Tiffany...even if the protein has been eliminated--what a risk for contamination! I use products with wheat or barely or oat grass. Which is a bummer, b/c I had some great vitamins w/them once
