  1. Just wanted to say good job to all on redeeming this mean-spirited thread with a healthy discussion
  2. My mom hashimoto's, her mother had thyroid dis. My dad, psoriasis My brother, aplastic anemia
  3. Brenda- The natural tampons are worth a try. Natracare makes natural, un-chemically bleached products. So you have no symptoms? That's strange. How did you get diagnosed? At a routine OB appt ?
  4. melisadki- you'll have to scope out amy's. they are all vegetarian, but have things like beans and soy for protein. they usually have a fair amount of carbs...so maybe not the best match for you unfortunately...
  5. Sure thing Patti..I'll help you out! Its not hard...I'm still a baby as far as myspacers go, but I can only be a slave to one site at a time
  6. Good news girl! Hope this doc helps answer some of your outstanding questions...

  8. Well, I know she doesn't want D, but praise God for movement at this point! Hmmm, not sure why she would get D unless the dairy was making her constipated and not things are moving along. Hopefully it will normalize. Did she start eating anything different or out of the ordinary recently that may be a culprit? Did you two go out to eat? I would try casein...
  9. Woo hoo! I'm in! Patti-what’s your my space address?
  10. ice-chewing=Pica.... it is a common symptom of those with anemia. i hate it severely, as did a friend of mine. Whenever I am anemia, I have a crazy desire to chew ice…like as in my ice maker couldn’t keep up with me. My friend would make her dh go out and buy her bags of ice from a grocery store! True story. Once I had the iron infusion, no more des...
  11. Boy, It feels weird to give an opinion contrary to one of the leading Celiac centers in the country--that I would have a lot of respect for. But I can't imagine trusting those two brands when a study was done that batch tested those 2 brands and Quaker and every test showed each brand was above the legal level of gluten contamination. Has anyone ever seen...

    ARCHIVED Nuvaring

Cassidy- Much luck to you--hope the trying is successful!
  13. Brenda- What acidophilous did you take? I wonder if your reaction was to the brand or an additive, rather than to the cultures themselves. Tampons--They can lock in bacteria and provide a breeding ground for yeast etc. to increase. They are also a source of irritation and pull on tissues. They were a source of irriation for me as I got older and...
  14. Anyone ever use the sticks in baking yet? Am cf and want to use them in some cookies... Just curious.
  15. Amy's--love those too. Look around, in addition to Whole Foods, Wild Oats etc, I have them in several local grocery stores too, Marsh & Kroger. You can also 'request' that a local store carry the products. Go here for more info: Open Original Shared Link
  16. Whoa there Tiger...maybe you should do a little more explaining before you start going off on people ! What exactly are you talking about? If you care enough to complain than you should care enough to site examples and give appropriate feedback to improve the site. Those who give poor arguments or accuse with no evidence are rarely taken seriously. Would...
  17. I was curious on the "soap" so looked it up here. It said: Open Original Shared Link Preparation Quinoa's survival through the millennia may be attributed to the resinous, bitter coating that protects its seeds from birds and insects--and also shields them from the intense high-altitude sunlight. This coating, called saponin, is soapy and must...
  18. ha ha maybe it was me, preaching on the evils of gluten to everyone in the station, and angrily grabbing someone's pizza and hurling it aside to save the person from future organ damage
  19. Claire- I think what you are saying is a good reminder. Practially speaking, we are still in the 'dark ages' of Celiac knowledge in many ways....it is still so new, and so little real research has been done, and so much understanding has yet to come. Perhaps in the future we will look back with regreat at those who didn't meet the "classic" Celiac diagnosis...
  20. can u give us the normal ranges? your TIBC--total iron binding capacity is typically high when one has anemia. was your iron considered borderline? your saturation is low which is also indicative of anemia. talk to your dr about it. it is very borderline from what i can tell, but depending on what the official normal ranges for the specific test were...
  21. I love smart/earth balance... I use their products!
  22. Its absolutely worth the sacrifice! And you can do it. Like I said, post to the SCD thread and ask for help. My advice, stick with meats, the legal fresh veggies and fruits (you can eat raw, cook, sauteed just like normal), you can use pure spices, legal beans...and then to make things easier, bake the SCD muffins and cookies etc in bulk then freeze so...
  23. Packard- 2 questions out of curiousity-- what drugs are you taking for Celiac, or to help with symptoms? how can you be sure you are having no issues with oatmeal? have you had follow-up testing? i have posed this question to others as intestinal damage/lesions can take place without "symptoms", as can other organ damage. something to think about.....
  24. Wow--so sorry to hear that. Fear or not I would definitely definitely try the diet! Have you gone on amazon and read the reviews? If not, show them to your husband. There are so many who were in similar positions and now have no meds to take and are in remission!! I'm sure he wants to do everything in his power to prevent surgery. Please do look at...
  25. lotus-- I wanted to know b/c I had some weird gluten-free responses from the Tuscan Italian (which is my favorite). It might have been some food intol to the veggies on my salad or fructose. Hard to tell! I don't necessarily think it was the dressing, but was curious if anyone else had ever experienced anything. I've never had a problem with the Raspberry...
