ARCHIVED Can I Use A Skin Cream That "might" Contain Gluten?
jenvan replied to Roberta's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I would not use any product with any form of gluten or oat. Too risky in my opinion. There are also a lot of good options out there. For really dry skin I like Tropical Traditions lotions. Open Original Shared Link -
ARCHIVED Wheat Allery And Pineapple Juice
jenvan replied to Mury's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
yes, bromelain, derived from pineapple, is a common digestive enzyme used as a supplement for those with gi issues. however, it is not going to break down gluten and protect you or do damage control for an immune reaction. imo, it would only end up helping with inflammation etc. by promoting good digestion. -
I agree with Abby. I do get the doctor angst...I have it too for some of mine. I have had a few henious doctors and have complications b/c of not being noticed...however, not all doctors are bad. And until you can give yourself an endoscopy, a biopsy or surgery, we need them around.

PS--I've been to Manila....loved the Philippines ! If you have been staying and eating in the hotel only, there is less chance for contamination from bacteria etc. However, I did get sick when I went to there from having to eat local food in one of the villages. I never drank or brushed with the regular water. But I stayed in a village...so it was risky...

It depends for me too. If I don't really know them, I will usually bring something of my own...but ck to see if I can eat one of things they are offering, like a plain salad with veggies (and my own dressing) or a plain fruit salad for instance. Don't be bashful...do what you need to do. Pitch ins I always make sure to bring something substantial I can... -

ARCHIVED Okay, Guys, Need Your Input On Something.....
jenvan replied to Canadian Karen's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
well, sort of, depends on who is using the word i believe the more medical term is infusion, so as not to be confused with transfusions--transferring blood materials from one person to another. in the case of an infusion, the iron has been produced, it is not coming from another person. just a big brownish bag of iron that is send into your system via... -
ARCHIVED Okay, Guys, Need Your Input On Something.....
jenvan replied to Canadian Karen's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Karen- Have you considered the SCD diet? If you haven't, you really should. You may have mentioned this, but have you ever had a follow up biopsy--did he also use that to come up with refractory diagnosis? On iron...I had an infusion. It is really the solution for peeps with persistent anemia... I took iron pills etc, no help...just make my system... -

ARCHIVED A Bunch Of Random Questions
jenvan replied to Clark Bent as Stupor-Man's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
1.) Self-diagnosis happens fairly often with gluten intolerance b/c the medical practice really only recognizes classic Celiac Disease at this point, and those with negative results are told they can eat gluten. Research is still very new at this point, but some studies show that those with negative results can still be gluten intolerant and suffer from... -
