  1. Tiffany-- Not sure how I missed this post when you made it, but came across it now. Printed it off--looks like great info. Thanks!
  2. Glad ya'll can use them!
  3. I can't drink them...but artificial sweetners give me GI issues. I stay away from them.
  4. For me this isn't a issue over contamination in Hershey, but an issue of spreading incorrect information via the web.
  5. 4tommorrow- 1st off, would it be possible to get a mannitol test? It is another way to measure damage to the intestines... read this article, might be another option for you: https://www.celiac.com/st_prod.html?p_prodid=52 I will say if you feel better minus gluten, then stick with the gluten-free diet. Those who need a gluten-free diet, but don...
  6. Mandi-- Hi there...several questions. How long have you felt like this? Recently? Always? Since being gluten-free? After I went gluten-free, for several months I experienced some confusion, memory issues, but they eventually went away. Have you been 100% gluten-free? You wrote later on being contaminated, so I wasn't sure. Have you explored indoor...
  7. Kim- What kind of pain exactly? I think you wrote insane--so if the pain is excruitating and is affecting your ability to do everyday things or work, you should see a doctor. I deal with chronic pain due to Fibromyalgia, but I am able to continue my life and manage it with pain relieving techniques at home.
  8. I agree with the camp that the info, IMO, is misleading. The are giving a definition of Celiac that is incorrect. If they are talking about a gluten intolerance, it could be different, but they say sprue. And they do not define the word "reacting." So, if they mean that some Celiacs can eat a small amount of gluten without experiencing a reaction/symptom...
  9. PghBOB-- sorry to hear they're still up. i had mine run last week and will see what the results are. are they extremely elevated or just slightly?
  10. hey, just popped on this thread to ck it out and glad i did. thnx for the web links. one of my best friends has had pretty severe acne for years, as well as other health problems. i told her some of it has got to be related to the state of her bowels. she is getting married in 2 weeks, but i told her when she gets back and settled we are going to figure...
  11. Mr. Bam Bam So so glad to hear Bernadette is doing better!! It seems like dairy may definitely be one of the offenders for her. I understand missing cheese, I miss it more than gluten really. Is she eating rice milk now? My fav Kinnikinnick bread is Italian White Tapioca. Her 40th! Have you thought about making her a gluten-free/cf cake? ...
  12. I really like Glutano crackers...they are the closest thing to a saltine I've found. I like them when my stomach is upset. For snacking I also like mary's gone black pepper crackers. I haven't tried Ener-g's yet...
  13. Susan- Go to this page, Univ of Chicago celiac disease center: Open Original Shared Link Click on top left-Fact Sheets, then choose the statistics one, last on list. Has some good stats/numbers!
  14. it is on amazon. i preordered it from overstock.com a month or two ago b/c it was cheaper. (for those of you who haven't tried it... overstock doesn't have as many titles as amazon, but it is cheaper than even amazon. just a little fyi)
  15. 4tomorrow--i'm a little confused. so have you been gluten-free for several weeks or were you still eating gluten? pls clarify for me, then i'll comment on labs. thnx!

  18. I'll call too (once I can breathe again...sinus infection ) What a lovely definition of food intolerance. Thanks Dani!
  19. These articles are great I think, when trying to get leverage or convince a restaurant or company of the celiac/gluten-free case. Have you seen the Univ of chicago Celiac fact sheets? I took those to the grocery store I was working with...They have some great stats on Celiac.
  20. Kristin- Yes, there is.... Read below for more info if you like on lamina propria. Lamina propria is loose connective tissue in a mucosa. Lamina propria supports the delicate mucosal epithelium, allows the epithelium to move freely with respect to deeper structures, and provides for immune defense. Compared to other loose connective tissue, lamina...
  21. No that I'm saying anything new here--but I agree, No! As as elonwy asked--what is the filet of fish? I thought Mcky D's only had fried fish...(I could be wrong though, I don't ever eat fast food....)
  22. I use Heinz Hors Sauce...yum! I'd ck back with the store and see what they seasoned/marinated with...
  23. kristin-- (hi!) that is also SUCH a good question! i wish i knew. perhaps they did not really see flattening. perhaps the flattening was very slight and the biposy did not show an increase in lymphocytes in the tissue. The latter would make no sense to me though, b/c if there was any flattening, I would think lymphocytes would be increased... ? I...
  24. Can I just say the whole 'low gluten' thing drives me crazy! Glad you two are thinking things through on your own. 4tommorrow-let us know what enterolab comes up with. If I had any flattening, I would go full-on gluten-free. Unfortunately as doctors are beginning to recognize Celiac/gluten intolerance--they often do not diagnosis those w/o the 'classic...
  25. I have not read a lot on the subject but I have seen accounts of documented villous flattening in those with a casein intolerance. Study on this has focused on children mostly. Casein can definitely also effect permeability in the intestines too. Your question is a bit of a hard one, as not a lot of definitive answers have been found yet. If you want...
