ARCHIVED What To Serve As A Side Dish?
jenvan replied to SharonF's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
granted...some of my suggestions include rice have you tried it with veggies in it or different spices? ...fruit salad, side salad, bean salad, sweet potato fries (can slice and bake in oven with spices), rice or quinoa cooked in broth/spices for good flavor (or sauteed with veggies), sauteed veggies, tomato/mozzarella salad, steamed veggies (w/or w/o... -
amanda- those are often times deficiencies..so taking a multi for now is a good idea. is your dr going to test your levels for those vitamins also? the bone scan should also be done at some point. however, if you need to wait a month or so, that's not a big deal. it is bascially an x-ray of several points in your body, then measurements are averaged...

donna-will pray for your husband's surgery. am trying not to put my head down on my desk at work right now. our power was off, and b/c i am such a bad sleeper to begin with (when everything is normal) i of course slept only a few moments. hate that feeling. hope you can be energized for the day and rest thereafter....

ARCHIVED I Know I Am Being Waaaaay Oversensitive Here
jenvan replied to skoki-mom's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I think I use the term celiac or celiacs b/c it is more concise when I am speaking...rather than saying "the other celiacs i know, or since i have celiac diease", i say "other celiacs or i'm a celiac...." so it doesn't bother me. i guess it would if someone was using it in a negative way, like...."those damn celiacs!" -
If they are just cysts you should be okay. I had several ruptured cysts--extremely painful, and had to go on birthcontrol at 16 to prevent more. My doctor said it would not affect my chances of getting pregnant--if anything my body was working overtime

jenvan replied to mart's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
mart- it would be amazing to me if there wasn't a group in miami too! i searched around and couldn't find one though. these links below list others in florida--maybe you could go to another close by at least once for help...then try and start a group locally--put in add in the paper, contact other group leaders etc. ? Yvonne- One other company I thought of is tropical traditions (www.tropicaltraditions.com). They have great lotions, lip balms, moisturizers, exfoliants made from coconut oil and natural products. I believe pretty much all their products are gluten-free! You should be able to quote out a price on their site too. I use their tub moisturizer for my hands...

I was hoping to get bare escentuals or some other gluten-free makeup shipped to you, but haven't figured that out yet. I cked with QVC (US & UK) and...

ARCHIVED Can Anyone Reccommend...
jenvan replied to sb4480's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I also have thinner hair. My new fav shampoo is Rosa Mosqueta by Aubrey Organics. It is chemical free--organic...good-smelling... And my hair looks better than ever when I use it. I was skeptical at first--thinking an all natural shampoo would be funky--but it is great. I highly recommend ! You can view it here: Open Original Shared Link You can... -
It sounds a lot like gallbladder. Another possbility is sphincter of oddi dysfunction, you can look that up online. My doc thought I had that for a while--as I was having intense abdominal pain (center or right) with naseau...but all my ultrasounds and tests were normal. Also worth checking into might be pancreatitis. This happens in some Celiacs due...
