GFreeMO replied to Roda's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Ditto!! -
I live in a rural area too. My closest grocery store is 25 min. away from my house. I can't really eat out b/c I can't have soy or lactose. LOL, the Food Network is like a horror movie too. I will watch and all is ok and then they say ok, now add a cup of flour and i'm like noooooooooooooooooo lol

I am becoming consumed with celiac disease. I need some tips to get it off my mind. It's all I think about. So much of life is revolved around food. I will try to watch TV and a food commercial will come on or actors in the show will be eating and boom, it's back on my mind. Reading is the same way, the characters will be having doughnuts or they will...

ARCHIVED Super-Sensitives--How Often Do You Get Glutened?
GFreeMO replied to GlutenFreeManna's topic in Super Sensitive People
I'm really interested in reading some of these responses. I have come to the realization that I have to be super strict now. On Sunday, I was glutened at the pumpkin patch of all places. My neices and I were unknowingly playing in the "hay" wheat straw maze. I am giving up all processed gluten free products b/c I really tend to overeat these and it... -
ARCHIVED Help! Still Not Feeling Better!
GFreeMO replied to klahusen's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I'm sorry that you are not feeling well. I think as time goes on, we become more and more sensitive to gluten. Are you eating a lot of gluten free processed foods? A lot of those products make many of us really sick. Also, what about another sensitivity such as dairy or soy. I've had to give up all of those things to feel better. -
My guess would be that since the celiac community is pretty small compared to the rest of the population, it would cost a lot to keep a publication marketed to us going.

I am a slow learner too. A few weeks ago, I had a package of gluten free muffins, some cookies and a few donuts - all gluten free. I was sick as a dog. I am swearing off anything in a box (again)

Every time I get glutened by CC, I get bad gut cramps, bloating and gas for several days. Then as the pain stops, I get mucous, but not always in the stool. Often I will pass gas and pass mucous. OR I feel like I have to go but just pass gas and mucous. After the mucous is over, I will feel better. I get that before the mucus stage...Thanks for the...

I am wondering what steatorrhea is. Every time I get glutened, after the horrible gut pain and gas I will pass "mucus" through the rectum. I read that this may not be mucus that this may be steatorrhea. Does anyone else get this? Thanks

Lets say for instance that you eat some gluten free bread for breakfast then later on you have some gluten free cookies and than later a gluten free doughnut and so on.......Can it add up and cause someone to be glutened? I know that the companies like Udi, kinninnick, Enjoy Life etc. test to certain levels but can the levels add up to be enough to make...

I was glutened at the pumpkin patch this past weekend. My little nieces and I were crawling around all over the "hay" maze. I felt HORRIBLE when we left..come to find out, we were playing in wheat straw. - Just a little heads up incase anyone else would make this mistake.

Thanks for sharing that. It was a pretty good article. It's comforting to know that there are other super sensitives like us out there.

I just read a few articles about how coffee can be cross reactive for celiacs. I think that means that the body will have a reaction because it is recognizing coffee (or soy, casein,) whatever it may be as gluten even though it's gluten free. Interesting.

After eliminating dairy, soy and most processed gluten free items, I am still feeling very gassy and uncomfortable. This morning I felt pretty good when I got up, that is until I had my cup of coffee. I am not tolerating coffee anymore. It leaves me feeling very similar to how I feel when I have been glutened. I don't get D with it but I get very bad...

ARCHIVED So Deliciuos Coconut Milk
GFreeMO replied to GFreeMO's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Well, I thought that this was going to be a great milk alternative for me but it has not been agreeing with me. I can't stay out of the bathroom with it. I read that it can have a big laxative effect in some people. Oh well, back to making rice milk. -
ARCHIVED Has Anyone Baked With Smart Balance Light
GFreeMO replied to GFreeMO's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips

For lotion I use Johnson's Shea and Cocoa Butter Baby Lotion, I use Carmex on my lips. If you call manufacturers, you probably wont get a black or white yes/no answer. Hopefully someone else will have some more ideas. -

GFreeMO posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I was wondering if anyone uses So Delicious Coconut Milk. I was thinking of buying some. They seem like a very allergy friendly company. How is it? Does it taste good with cereal or in coffee? Should I try plain or vanilla? Thanks! -
ARCHIVED Kids Selling Gluten!
GFreeMO replied to GlutenFreeManna's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
You could buy what they are selling if it is sealed in a box if you wanted and donate it to a food pantry. There are a lot of folks who can't afford treats who would really appreciate it. Thats what I do in these situations. Our local grocery store has a Harvesters container where you can put in food donations and they take it to the homeless shelter.
