  1. Honestly, you are lucky that they even considered going to a place that had gluten free options. Most people are so focused on the wedding that that wouldn't have crossed their minds. It's unfortunate but this is what usually happens when you are the odd man out. Could you bring a thermous with you to keep something hot? You could bring a electric...
  2. Oh Joy! Fun being a woman sometimes... Thanks for the info ladies!
  3. I'm sorry that you are having a difficult time with shopping. It does get so much easier. There are SO many gluten free things to eat. All meat, veg and fruit! What are somethings that you like to eat? Maybe we can steer you in the right direction.
  4. Just wondering what causes diarrhea on your period. This is non gluten related D. Does anyone else get this and know why it happens?
  5. Thanks for the info! Mission Corn Chips are safe too. They have the allergen info on their website.
  6. Yes, there are no butter instructions on the website. It uses 1/2 cup of oil in place of the butter. I use canola oil. We think they taste better this way. Not as crumbly.
  7. Thanks for all of the wonderful ideas!!! These are going to be great!

  9. I am making up gift bags and they need to be gluten-free and casein free. So far I have starburst candy and little boxes of sun maid raisins. What else could I put in there? I need 5 or so things. It doesn't have to be candy but something fun. I don't want crying over carrots or anything..lol Thanks!
  10. I can't handle any coconut milk at all. It has a laxative effect in some people. I recently got a ice cream maker and have been making fruit sorbets. There is even a chocolate dairy/casein free one. Maybe you could get one and have that instead. Feel better!
  11. Hemp milk sounds like it might be good. Any certain brand to look for that is safe? Coconut milk makes me sick with digestive issues. I think it has a laxative effect on some people. Where can I get palm shortening? Brand? Thanks!
  12. I had my first successful dairy free baking today. I made the Betty Crocker gluten free choc. chip cookies with oil in place of the butter. They turned out great. I am so thankful that the choc. chips are dairy free!! I now need to find a safe NUT free milk alternative for my pancakes and mashed pot. etc. I know that Rice Dream is out. What are some...
  13. I don't see why you couldn't use potato starch. Good luck
  14. Your husband may be right. Sulfates can do that to people. Breaking out in hives is what happens with a sulfate allergy.
  15. Wish we had a Wegmans. I'm in Missouri there are none here. I guess i'll give Pacific a go. I remember reading that it was safe for celiacs. I wonder if Wegmans has an online store with shipping?!
  16. There is a test for casein. I am not sure if there is a test for corn or soy. I think you would need an allergist for those. If I were you, when I got back home, I would cut out all dairy, soy and corn for 2 weeks and see how you feel. If you are better great, if not, go from there. I can tell you this though. I was eating tons of cheese and ice cream all...
  17. Fun topic! I would open a gluten free dedicated BBQ restaurant. We would have smoked meats with bbq sauce, fries, buns..the works! Here where I live BBQ is HUGE, I have really missed going to the BBQ restaurants.
  18. I'm sorry that you are not feeling well! I have been at this for 2 years. All of a sudden, I can't have casein/dairy anymore. It makes me as sick as gluten did. So yes, it is VERY possible to start reacting to a new food. Other people here have has similar things happen with soy or corn. I would start there and eliminate those 3 and stick with whole foods...
  19. I need to know if Pacific foods rice milk is safe to use. I did a search on here but found conflicting info. I know that Rice Dream is out so I thought I would try this. Anyone use this or know?
  20. I just looked these up on the internet. I had never heard of them. They look great! Thanks
  21. I don't know about these brands. They are very expensive. If money isn't an issue, i'd say go for it. Or you could make your own. It might be fun for your son to take the playdough to school to share. Here is the recipe from parents magazine. Playing with regular play dough is too risky for kids with celiac disease, who can't eat gluten, a protein...
  22. Left over chili over rice and a veggie of some sort.
  23. Thanks for the ideas! I'm going to Amazon now to check them all out.
  24. I do bake and I do have a fryer. I am going to try making my own with the mission tortillas. That sounds soo good. Warm chips and salsa...yummy!
