GFreeMO replied to sa1937's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
The cheesy hash browns was the one that I bought a few times. It was ok. I have made my own though with ground beef, onion, Velveeta cheese and hash browns. It was way better! So if anyone liked it and is going to miss it, you can make your own. -

ARCHIVED Gluten-Free Hamburger Helper Concern
GFreeMO replied to sa1937's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Thanks for the heads up. I have bought this on occasion when it's late I haven't planned ahead. My nearest grocery store is 40 min. round trip. The little town that I liev in has a tiny Mom and Pop store that carries this. We just had it a few weeks ago. Back to Dinty Moore stew for a quick meal that I can grab there! Thanks! -
ARCHIVED What Kind Of Oil/s Do You Cook With Most?
GFreeMO posted a topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I was cooking/browning some hash browns tonight and it got me thinking about oils. I use vegetable or olive oil. Mostly vegetable oil though. Does anyone cook with canola or corn oils? Most recipes call for vegetable oil. Can the others be substituted? -

The What's For Dinner Tonight Chat

This sounds delish! I was not aware that Johnsonville sausages were gluten free. I have never tried the Classico sauces. I usually make my own sauce BUT, that would be great to have on hand when I don't feel like making it. It takes a long time to do. Do you eat this over gluten free pasta? I wonder what it would taste like over white rice. I live in the... -

What a fun thread! Last night I made baked chicken and rice with green beans for dessert I had homemade vanilla ice cream with sliced strawberries. Tonight I am making taco salads. Sylvia, which brand of italian sausage do you buy? -
I made some vanilla ice cream in my ice cream maker and made a Gluten-Free chocolate cake. I cut the cake into slices and put ice cream and chocolate frosting between the slices. This made excellent ice cream sandwiches. I have also done this with choc. chip cookies and ice cream. Does anyone have any ice cream recipes for ice cream makers or do anything...

ARCHIVED Low Potassium
GFreeMO replied to color-me-confused's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I have that problem myself. Orange juice helps a lot as well as bananas. Not sure if you can have milk but milk has the same amount of potassium as orange juice. I have the achy muscles and stiff joints too. In the morning, I have coffee and OJ and a banana and rice chex with milk. It helps a lot. If I skip this meal, I feel it. -
Last week I decided to try yogurt. Big mistake. I was so constipated all week. From all of the straining, my hemorrhoid is really bothering me. It feels like a headache and pressure up my bum and it itches and burns. Driving me crazy honestly. What do I do about this? Tucks, Prep H?

ARCHIVED Best gluten-free Bread?
GFreeMO replied to Kat70R's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I agree about it not being consistent. It always tastes the same but the last loaf that I bought had too much "dust" on it. It sure does taste good though. I had some cinnamon toast this morning and it makes the best stuffing for pork chops or whatever. -
ARCHIVED Which Would You Suspect?
GFreeMO replied to salexander421's topic in Super Sensitive People
I would have to say the tortillas as well. Can you try Mission brand corn tortillas. They are safe and produced on a dedicated line. I am super sensitive and eat these all the time. I'm sorry you are all not feeling well. -
Coupons for fresh veg and fruit would be fantastic! I have watched that show a few times and am amazed by how much they get for free. I tend to agree with Kareng that they may be hoarders. There was one woman on the show that had like 50 packs of diapers but didn't have a baby. Also, wouldn't the 50+ boxes of cereal and things go out of date before they...

ARCHIVED Bug Sprays For The House
GFreeMO posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I had quite the shock this morning when I opened my dishwasher. There was a big cockroach in it. This is the first one that I have seen in the 3 years living here. That being said, does anyone know if that Ortho Home Defense or any of the stuff that they sell at Home Depot or Lowes is safe. I don't want to use Raid b/c I want to spray the garage and basement... -
ARCHIVED Overwhelmed By Health Problems
GFreeMO replied to martikai's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
I'm sorry that you are not feeling well. Just a thought, when I am glutened, by even a tiny amount, it feels like I have a UTI even though I don't. Gluten can cause bladder issues. Perhaps you had a bit of gluten on accident. -
ARCHIVED Hair Products
GFreeMO replied to Karla01's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Thanks for the info! I just bought some Finesse shampoo. It's reformulated and it says no gluten right on the bottle! -
If I have to use a microwave that has had gluten in it, I cover my food with plastic wrap and set it on top of a bunch of paper towels or I use 2 plates one that touches the microwave and one to eat off of. Also make sure to wash your hands after touching the handle or buttons before you eat.

I just tried a Pamela's shortbread choc and vanilla swirl cookie. Not a fan. Are there any store bought gluten and nut free cookies that are really good? I have been making my own choc. chip cookies out of the Betty Crocker mix but sometimes I just want one without having to bake. Thanks!

ARCHIVED Vanilla & Alcohol
GFreeMO replied to LilDebMom's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
McCormick vanilla is gluten free. It says so on the box. Just to be sure, i'd toss it and start over. If you think back to the last time you used it, you may have been making something gluteney with it. -
ARCHIVED How Careful Do I Need To Be?
GFreeMO replied to milkmommy's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Not a silly question at all! You can touch gluten but you have to be very careful and wash your hands right after. If I have to touch it, I wear gloves. If I feed my dogs for instance, I use a glove and then I still wash my hands. Holding hands and kissing sets you up to get glutened. I was glutened a few months ago from my toddler aged neice who was... -
ARCHIVED I Need Some Advice

ARCHIVED Lay's Potato Chips?
GFreeMO replied to niki-moen22's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I am a super sensitive celiac. I have reacted to plain Lays. I don't eat them anymore. I do however, eat the Stax. I have eaten many many cans and have never gotten sick. I don't know if your daughter likes corn chips but Mission Corn Chips are gluten free and produced on dedicated equipment. I eat a lot of those too. They are the only 2 chips that I will... -
ARCHIVED Multi-Vitamins: How Do You Know They Are Safe?
GFreeMO replied to Katrala's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I take Nature Made multi-vitamins. They say gluten free right on the bottle. You can also call and/or email them to make sure. I did last week and they told me that the multi-vitams are gluten, shellfish, fish and nut/peanut free. They seem like a really allergy friendly company. I am SUPER sensitive to cross contamination and I would know if these were... -
Another holiday = another family argument for me. My Mom is having Easter dinner at her house. My sister and hub and kids will be coming. For some reason, the kids have to shovel crackers in their mouth pre-dinner. Then she is making a ham with a rub in the smoker outside. A baked potato and cheese gluteny thing and some green beans that she insists on...

I am SUPER sensitive and eat Nestle milk chocolate chips. They are made on a dedicated line. All other chocolate besides Hersheys cocoa powder or Nestle cocoa powder is off limits to me. It all makes me sick.
