  1. If going gluten free meant that all we had to do is stop eating the stuff, it would be easy. But it gets complicated when we have to look for all these other foods that can be bad for us too, plus cc. *sigh* It does get better.....hang in there.
  2. Yes, you could be going through gluten withdrawal and that can make us feel worse for a while. Hang in there......there is a lot of help for you here.
  3. It happens because you are still having gluten. You have to totally eliminate it. Even if you are only eating it once in a while you are still damaging your intestines.
  4. Well, that's a new twist on it.....gluten free means that the food is FREE?! Where does someone come up with that idea? Would be nice, though, wouldn't it? For quite a while, when I was first diagnosed, I had people confusing gluten and glucose. They were always surprised that I could have sweets. I don't understand some people. If a friend told me about...
  5. Why ARE people so resistant to checking out if they might have Celiac? I have a couple of friends who suffer from Fibro and I have told them about the connection between Celiac and Fibro, and given them links to good sources for info. They say "Oh, that's interesting", but never follow through. I don't get why they wouldn't want to explore the possibility...
  6. I take mine in the morning with breakfast, when I take my other supplements, so I will remember it!
  7. I think it is because I am finally absorbing vitamins and nutrients.
  8. Mine is improving too. Not as much in the brush and it seems healthier. Small victories.
  9. I've been wanting to try the Culterelle, but the price has been an issue. Why does it have to be so expensive? My husband keeps saying to get it.....so I guess I will trot on over to Amazon. Wal-Mart didn't have the one you all recommend anyway.
  10. I just tried this today for the first time and it is very good. I haven't found any Kinnikinnick product that I don't like actually. This mix is better than the Betty Crocker, I think.....I like the texture better.

    ARCHIVED Chik Fil A

My sister-in-law works at our near by Chik-Fil-A and she told me about the fries and the new grilled nuggets. Chik-Fil-A seems to be really trying. And I am so happy to be able to have the waffle fries! It's the little pleasures, isn't it?
  12. I don't understand what it is about celiac that brings out this attitude in people. It's like they think we did it on purpose. So stupid. I am fortunate to have a super supportive husband in bil & sil (not much other family) and it makes me angry to read what so many of you deal with. It's really unbelievable. Healthier Without Wheat: A New Understanding...
  13. I had the shaky hands too and legs as well. Sometimes I thought they were going to give out on me. Much better now. I can reach for things with the trembling. It made me feel so feeble! There is a typo here....I meant to say that "I can reach for things without the trembling now".....sorry about that.
  14. 1 cup of beer to 1 cup of flour. Here's the recipe we used: 1 cup flour 2 tablespoons garlic powder 2 tablespoons paprika 2 tsp salt, 2 tsp black pepper 1 egg, beaten 1 cup beer (flat)
  15. There might already be a topic on this beer, but I just thought I would let everyone know that it makes a FANTASTIC beer batter for fish (or chicken...only tried fish so far). I bet that your non-gluten free family and friends can't tell the difference. We used grouper and the flour was Bob's Red Mill gluten-free All-Purpose. It was amazing!!!!
  16. Black-eyed peas cooked with a ham hock here too!
  17. That's hysterical.
  18. Thank you.
  19. How do I do that? Who is an admin? Sorry, but I just can't seem to figure out how to send a message to admin. I want to change my screen name too, since I am no longer in Maine. Thanks!
  20. Oh good.....I don't feel so crazy now. And yes, it seems just too sweet. My husband made gluten-free biscotti yesterday and I don't want them at all. But he totally understands all the odd tings that go along with the gluten thing.
  21. Has anyone experienced the phenomena of no longer liking the foods you used to love the most? I used to be raving chocoholic, but now, as time goes on, I like it less and less. I have successfully converted favorite recipes to gluten free, but for some reason, I don't like chocolate much anymore (is that the sound of the world ending, lol?). I still like...
  22. It is hard, but you CAN have foods you like. You can have flour, just not wheat flour.....so you can have your husband's liver and onions. Bob's Red Mill All Purpose gluten-free Flour is a good substitute in dishes like that and in gravies. As for mashed potatoes, the real thing is better anyway. but the Idahoan brand is gluten-free if you want to keep...
  23. Don't the corn tortillas have flour in them?
  24. Finally living in a place with lots of fabulous restaurants and not being able to eat at most of them.
