  1. You can still have gravy.....just thicken it with corn starch, potato starch or an alternative non-gluten flour.
  2. Hugs!! I am hoping that you get through this OK.
  3. Hi there! Just wondering if you have moved yet. I hope it went smoothly! Cheers!

  4. I had a good experience at Outback, too. I was pleasantly surprised by how many things are on their gluten-free menu.
  5. This woman obviously hates you if she wants to deliberately make you sick and tells her friend "I know and I don't care." She is dangerous. You and your boyfriend need to get your own place and never ever go back to her house. Would she feed sugar to someone with diabetes? Or peanuts to someone with a peanut allergy? She is mentally ill or something...
  6. It's Gluten-Free Living, 58 pages for $8.95. It is good and I may pick it up now and then, just not ready to shell out the $34 right now. Still furniture shopping for the new place. (I'm not really Diane-in-Maine anymore.... )
  7. I guess this is the right forum for this. I bought a copy of a gluten-free magazine today at the supermarket. It has lots of interesting articles and I thought about subscribing. Found the info for that and it's $34 for 4 issues a year. Why are gluten-free mags so expensive? Ergh! OK, end of rant.
  8. It must be so hard to have a spouse who doesn't even BELIEVE you, or support you. "That gluten thing" is hard enough without that to deal with too. Can't he see the proof in what is happening to the baby? Is it possible for you to change doctors and maybe find one who can convince your husband that you are indeed sick. I feel so bad for you!
  9. I am so happy to read that you found a new friend. You will be good for each other. Hugs for both of you!
  10. I feel so bad for you....losing a pet is SO hard. And having family and friends who are not supportive must be awful. They "forgive" you for being sick??? That is beyond unfair. ((((HUGS!))))
  11. I don't like Lara Bars either. Thought I was the only one!
  12. Carrageenan is derived from seaweed. Open Original Shared Link

    ARCHIVED Largo, Fl

We are moving to Largo, FL soon. Can anyone recommend a celiac savvy doctor in the Largo/St. Pete/Clearwater area? Thanks!

    ARCHIVED Inhaling Flour

I know that I feel much better since retiring from my job. I worked for a Meals for the Elderly program. Our cook baked bread and rolls, cakes, etc. Good for them, not so good for me, I guess, as there was always flour everywhere. She is a messy cook and I had to be in the kitchen too, so I was exposed to it, even though I didn't eat the food.
  15. I did that same thing with my new toaster......I thought setting #3 would to be fine. Way to dark, but I ate it....it was Udi's and I wasn't about to throw it away!
  16. That's awful! That house is toxic for you. So is your family apparently. I don't understand why some families are like that......seems to be quite a few similar stories on here lately. Is there any other more understanding family member you can move in with? I feel so bad for you.
  17. So sorry that happened. What brand was it?
  18. For me, it is dairy and soy. That's what I have figured out so far. Soy is sneaky; it's in many things, like mayo, canned tuna.......you have to be even MORE diligent in reading labels than we already are. Just when you think you are doing well, along comes another food saboteur!
  19. Open Original Shared Link Many of their products are gluten free and they are really really good. I found them at Wal-Mart.
  20. My husband said he liked them better than the "regular" ones. I agree.
  21. Get some! Seriously.....they are really good. Very lemony.
  22. Here is a link you may find interesting. A trip to Key West--and a whole bunch of gluten-free places to go!:>)

  23. Is your supplement gluten free? You'll want to check that. My hair got thinner too. My doctor said it might take a year or more for it to be healthy again. I think it is better, but not back to "normal" yet (after about 8 months gluten-free).
  24. I crush up Rice Chex to put in meatloaf and meatballs. Try it sometime.
  25. The Glutino brand of English Muffins are really good.....I don't remember the price, but there are 6 in the package. We make jam too.
