  1. Good question. I used to order mocha fraps at Starbucks, but having read on here and maybe on another site that they might now contain gluten, I don't. So I order capuccionos or however you spell that! But like others I don't go there much anymore (their coffee tastes burnt to me). This is an example of a restaurant that I used to plunge right into...
  2. Have you checked their Web site? Last year, I lived in a place that sold this IC at all the grocery stores. I got online and contacted someone at BB who sent me a list that I then printed out -- of what has gluten and what doesn't. I would take it around with me. Last year, I would buy the country line of vanilla that I'd eat with fresh fruit. Not sure...
  3. (Curious - did not give me the edit option to update my original post. Maybe that 'expires' after some x amount of days.) Just wanted to post an update. I emailed my local Whole Foods about bath suds. This is what they replied. "One bubble bath that fits the criteria that you ask would be the kids Alaffia 32oz which comes in 2 scents with a retail...
  4. I did call my dds ahead of time and was told the toothpaste is gluten free. What they neglected to mention is that I would be getting a fluoride treatment. The assistant read out the ingredients of the fluoride to me and it seemed ok, but I didn't have my laptop to do a quick internet search, either. Does anyone know the ingredient(s) to be on the lookout...

    ARCHIVED Doc In Dc

All, I have an appointment with Fasano in the Fall. My regular doc in DC who did diagnose me is nevertheless not as good as I'd like. I need someone to sit down with me and both administer and EXPLAIN blood test results. I'm basically looking to change GPs in other words. I know that the local group has a list of celiac docs. My requirements are that...
  6. I haven't seen him yet. I had an appointment lined up for March that I had to cancel, then one in June that I had to cancel. Now it is set for October. You can only get appointments that far ahead of time, it seems. I live within DC and he is somewhere in Maryland. I'm going to have to rent a car to go to the doctor. It's very frustrating, but I suppose we...
  7. Was just in the HFS (health food store) and re-looked at the packages of Nana's No Wheat! cookies (eg, choc chip, crunchy chocolate). The label boldly exclaims NO WHEAT! On the back, "made in a facility that also processes wheat." Sometimes you just have to laugh. Now, I know any time we eat out in a restaurant we are also eating food from a facility...
  8. Looking for known gluten free suds (bubbles) and other products for the bath. Thanks! Plumbago
  9. I'm about to go to our Harris Teeter. Pre diagnosis, I used to buy their pre cooked chicken. In my store, this is an item you'd see when you first walked in (!). It's warming in plastic underneath heat lamps. Any remote possibility that any of you know of, that these items or other "pre-cooked" items are gluten-free? Thanks. Plumbago
  10. I have never seen "gluten free" on Alexia frozen potato products. You say they are going to expand. Do you know when? I bought the julienne sweet potato fries last night. No mention of gluten free. Added: Open Original Shared Link Their FAQs say their potato items are gluten-free w/ exception of the potato bites, I think. So does that mean that...
  11. I know it's hard to talk about, but I'm not exactly sure of the nature of the new issue. But, if you have a medical professional you see regularly who knows about celiac, ask him or her. And one month is still kind of early. If I were you, I might do a little bit of Internet research, talk to my knowledgeable med pro, and wait a bit more.
  12. That bites. I was going to say look up their web site, but it's useless as far as listing ingredients goes. Open Original Shared Link I used to gulp those things down. Now I don't get any blended ice drinks in any coffee stores. It's the syrup label we need to see, write down the ingredients and hit the internet at home to investigate. That's terrible...
  13. Great. Thank you for the recommendation! I will check it out. Plumbago Added: Actually after googling them, it seems that they are probably Swiss, not Swedish. The word "scam" sometimes with a question mark sometimes not, also came up fairly often. I guess I could still just buy the products, not become an actual salesperson, but still. Not sure now...
  14. I do not. I have not drilled down to such detail (yet). I just know that the Shikai brand and the MyChelle brand kind of go out of their way to let you know they're gluten free. SUNSCREEN and MOSQUITO REPELLANT I left these out of my original posting. I have heard Coppertone (except for one variety) is gluten free. And something I got at WF (really thick...
  15. Marilyn, I don't wear makeup, only Mary Kay lipstick, which the dealer promises is gluten-free. Eat Meat - thanks for the link to the discussion on Cetaphil (updated on the last post). Wow. Down to one for sure gluten-free product. So that must mean that the foaming cleanser that I sometimes also use contains gluten.
  16. 2011 I'm a little bit picky when it comes to the moisturizing cream I put on my face. I tend to like the high end stuff, using the less 'boutique' brands the minority of the time. What I've been finding, though, is that there is a mid-level price range of moisturizers that are gluten free. These seem to nearly exclusively be available at health food stores...
  17. In that case, have them done one more time just to make sure (and be absolutely sure to be eating gluten). If they still come back in the normal range, then I would say look elsewhere for the culprit, no? Otherwise, do some reading on normal celiac readings, and how one can still have celiac disease with them. I do think there are cases. I might have read...
  18. This is my take, and what I've been saying ever since I got diagnosed in May 2010. Why not start out with blood tests (but, like others have said - you DO have to be eating gluten; waste of time if you're not)? Search this site to find out which blood tests are the best. Then, if those seem to indicate celiac, then I would recommend the endoscopy. That...
  19. I will be watching this topic. I suspect people will suggest various web sites. Online shopping is something I don't do anymore, mostly because I do not have the time to deal with untangling things once a third party gets a hold of my cc number which they've done in the past, so I don't do it. Whole Foods - I've practically given up on them. It seems all...
  20. I discovered this ice cream recently at Harris Teeter. I looked twice at the ingredients and decided it looked safe so I bought it (not cheap!). I've since bought two more boxes. I do see Carrageenan as an ingredient, but I don't see carrageenan (wheat). Why do they put wheat in parenthesis? Does anyone know. I guess I could call Magnum, Unilever,...
  21. Called today. Very disappointing. They told me: too many multi chemical interferences to know for sure. We're not comfortable saying an item is gluten free. We don't test personal care products. The test for gluten in food does not work for personal care products. Into the giveaway bin.
  22. Wondering if the yellow fever vaccine is gluten free? I ask the clinic (can't say - tells me to ask my doc); I ask the doctor. The doctor barely thinks, and says yeah sure. One of the ingredients is gelatin. I think that's ok. Just want to make extra sure. Thanks. Plumbago
  23. Thanks Skylark. Maybe I'll call the lab tomorrow. Sigh. Now, I've got to post about yellow fever vaccines. Doc said ok, but I wonder. It has gelatin in it. Plumbago
  24. Thanks Ravenwood. Very helpful. I've sent them an email. I'll let you know what they say. UPDATE: I went back to their Web site (Open Original Shared Link). If you scroll over the good news propaganda ( ) about vitamin E, it says: derived from wheat germ and/or vegetable oils. So if it is wheat germ, then presumably not gluten free. ? Man.
  25. Hi Sylvia, Yes, I looked that up on the web site too, and that is what I read too. My question is not if unpretroleum jelly has petroleum in it, but if it has gluten in it. If I had to guess which would be the culprit, I might say the hydrogenated castor oil, or the topopheryl acetate. But I really have no idea. Plumbago
