ARCHIVED Gluten Free Cats?
Fire Fairy replied to Fire Fairy's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
I have a few problems with wet food only. My fat boy is completely deaf and he likes water which makes him very difficult to train. When his bowl is empty he starts knocking things down. He knows the humans come running when things hit the ground. Especially if those things shatter when they hit the ground. I can't keep wet cat food out as the dogs would... -
ARCHIVED Gluten Free Cats?
Fire Fairy replied to Fire Fairy's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Thank you Peter and Takala. I'm trying the Wellness brand. It's good to know all the options. I'm feeling really good about the cats going gluten free. I'm really hoping it well save my oldest from pulling out her own fur and save the youngest from developing diabetes. I will be over joyed if they actually look healthier. It will be the confirmation that... -

ARCHIVED Gluten Free Cats?
Fire Fairy replied to Fire Fairy's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Thank you for the links. I bought them Wellness diet grain free formula in dry and some little cans to mix with it (unfortunately two of the cans have corn). So it shouldn't make her ill having her Temptations? -
Two of my three cats might really benefit from the gluten free diet. The oldest has some sort of skin irritation that causes her to pluck out her fur. We have been to several vets with no solution. I'm hoping gluten free will be the cure. The youngest cat is severely overweight and I'm hoping gluten free will help get his weight under control. The middle...

ARCHIVED Gluten Free Cosmetics & Body Care Products For Celiacs
Fire Fairy replied to BrookeT's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I just got Joelle (my mineral glitters). Just put it on for the first time. It went on well, blends well. I think I got too dark a blush (True Rose) as I'm very fair skinned. Next time I plan to try cotton candy. The prices were comparable to Avon. The blush was smaller than Avon's however that could be due to the fact I bought the complete kit which included... -
ARCHIVED What Kind Of Gluten Free Dog Food Do You Use?
Fire Fairy replied to Rachel W's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I'm thinking about doing this as well and I have a multiple pet home so I'm not sure if I can really afford it. I plan to start with the cats. One of mine is very over weight and I'm hoping maybe it will help his weight. I was suggested Wellness Core by a friend. -
ARCHIVED Whats Your 'go-To' Meal
Fire Fairy replied to runningcrazy's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Thank you, very good to know. My local grocery just carries the sausage and sometimes the bacon so this gives me options. I get very confused by caramel color and maltodextrin it seems some sites tell me they may have gluten and some websites say they are safe. I don't know if it's a matter of what country the website is based in or just old outdated information... -
ARCHIVED Whats Your 'go-To' Meal
Fire Fairy replied to runningcrazy's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I make soup. I use canned beans, quiona, diced tomatoes, broccoli, vegetable broth and whatever else I can think of at the time. I thought the sausage had gluten? I have a Cecelia's Marketplace Grocery Guide and it only lists the bacon and ham skillets as safe. (Of course my book is Casein free too) I also checked a food allergy website and it said... -
Hi Kate1 I'm new here too. I was diagnosed November 2nd. My Dr said and I quote, "I've suspected this for some time." So glad he finally shared his suspicions. Honestly from what I've read from others I'm very proud of my Doctor for figuring it out. I had a lot of symptoms I completely ignored and never even mentioned to my Dr. The symptoms I complained about...

ARCHIVED For The Ladies Among Us...
Fire Fairy replied to bridgetm's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Before being diagnosed I had the same trouble with the pill and spotting all month long so I gave it up. Since going gluten free my periods have been infinitely milder. They had become very painful with cramps and terrible migraines plus I was losing a lot of blood. Since going gluten free I don't have a lot of fat in my diet so that may well be the difference... -
ARCHIVED What Are Your Symptoms When Glutened?
Fire Fairy replied to catarific's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I get a migraine and all that goes with my migraines, I've also noticed blood blisters in my mouth. The migraine starts within an hour and the blood blister usually shows up the next day or so. -
I love the almond milk too. I tried coconut and I don't like it at all. Almond is much better.

ARCHIVED Trusting Other People's gluten-free Cooking
Fire Fairy replied to domesticactivist's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I don't have any gluten free friends but I have friends who tell me they know other people with Celiac disease and they aren't anywhere near as strict as I am. Whoever these people are they make me look neurotic to my gluten eating friends. -
White Mocha is my all time favorite! Thank you.

Now I have a good reason to want I phone! -
In my area the donut shops bake their own donuts therefore I wouldn't dream of consuming anything from those shops. I was wondering if anyone knows the names of a few of the safe Starbucks coffee flavors. I asked at my Starbucks and the response I received was, "what's gluten?" (though the info might be helpful to you too Mama Melissa)

ARCHIVED Working Near Wheat Straw
Fire Fairy replied to Fire Fairy's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Thank you Quincy and Skylark. -
I'm 36 when I gained the weight I though it was my age. In fact when just about every health problem I had due to celiac showed up I assumed it was my age. A very stupid assumption, I feel 10 years younger since getting off gluten. I'm 5'5 and currently 144. I was 119 before my weight started jumping all over. I gained and lost and gained, lost, gained. The...

I was always skinny until I think I went from just gluten intolerant into celiac disease about a decade ago. I too gained a lot before finding out I had issues with gluten I think I gained 50 pounds in 3 months. Two months gluten free and I've lost 28 pounds! I still would like to lose 20 more but I'll be very happy when I lose 10 pounds. I'm going to do...

I work at Home Depot and I'm usually in the garden center. My station is separated from the straw trucks by a large corral big enough to house a lot of product and still have room for customer vehicles to drive through the center. No one ever brings the straw in to me it is always picked up at the straw truck. Last Summer pre-diagnoses I spent an average...

I'm afraid I can't interpret anything myself but I wanted to say hello. I'm still new myself but I've been learning a lot, if I can help in anyway I'll be all too happy. One thing you will need to do is make sure the items you use for your food in the kitchen are kept gluten free. Cross Contamination (CC) will get you if you are not careful.

Fire Fairy replied to Monklady123's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I'm a Tennessee girl born and raised and I like salty grits on some mornings and sugary grits on others. I've never had cheese grits, it sounds awful to me. Sadly my favorite thing to do with grits was to put some on my biscuit with egg and bacon. Oh well it's good to know I can still eat grits I hadn't even thought about grits since going gluten free.... -
ARCHIVED How Much Weight Loss Should Be Good?
Fire Fairy replied to Fire Fairy's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Thanks everyone! I truly appreciate all of your thoughts. Mac55 I'm very glad to hear it wasn't just me who had a lot of weight changes prior to diagnoses. As far as potatoes go, I love them. I think my Doctor was trying to scare me away from them because he was concerned about my weight and thought I'd replace pasta with potatoes. I am a medium build woman...
