  1. Thank you Lena and GlutenFreeManna. I actually have 2 ancient slow cookers. They are from the early 60's but they still work well. No timer though. I love the link and I'm exploring it now.

    ARCHIVED Grr...

Just a comment on the "older" generation and Dr's, my dad is about to turn 72 and he thinks all Dr's are "quacks"! In my life I've seen him go to a Chiropractor a few times, a sports medicine clinic a few times and a walk in clinic maybe three times. I worry a lot about him because in the last few months he's lost a lot of weight and is eating very little...
  3. That would be bad they are so handy for work especially since I work with a bunch of gluten eaters. I can just keep my bars in my purse wash my hands pull out a bar and it never has to touch anything in the breakroom. I think for the first few days I'll chance it. I'm off work Thursday and Friday so I won't be eating them those two days, if I'm suddenly feeling...
  4. Eliminated the sweeteners Sunday. You're quite right about them. I think I'm eating enough vegitables and fruit. Some days I eat more fruit than others. On the vegetable front when I say I eat a bowl of beans I have big bowls! I'd guess they hold about three servings of beans. Corn chips count as veggies right? I am in the process of becoming...
  5. Thank you for sharing Nate I was very addicted to Diet Coke years ago but recently I've taken medication (Topamax) that made it undrinkable. Unfortunately after I stopped the meds I started drinking a coke or two a day again.
  6. I'm going to give this a try more or less. I'm going to keep my Larabars and Kind Bars for work (at least for the moment). It could easily be that since I eat a lot I'm getting too much at 20ppm. I still hope it's just the Diet Coke though as it is very easy to do with out.
  7. Very true but in this case they are gluten free. I eat Sunshine Burgers they are great.
  8. So far as I can tell, yes. I eat quite a few legumes. Thank you for the link. It all sounds great right now.
  9. November 2nd my Dr told me he thought I might have Celiac Disease. He told me to go Gluten free for a month and see how I felt. I felt great. Since then I've realized I'm definitely Celiac. During this time I've lost all the weight I had mysteriously gained before eliminating gluten. In November I was 173 pounds and now I'm 127. 127 is fine. I have been as...
  10. Starting to think it could be both the Amy's and the Diet Coke. Looks like I'm going to need to start actually cooking.
  11. I'm pretty sure mine dates back to age 27 and the year 2001. I had two personal crisis surrounding the week of September 11th and I think the stress was too much for my body and activated the Celiac Disease. I had already had some issues (mostly migraines) but that was when I really got sick.
  12. I say that too! I think Celiac Disease runs rampant in my family. My brother who studied law at Memphis State (I say this to point out that he was/is smart) was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes in his late 20's. Knowing now that Mom and I have Celiac Disease one might think he would get tested since Type 1 Diabetes can be brought on by untreated Celiac...
  13. I have done a lot of research on migraines. Oddly enough Celiac Disease never showed up in any of my research. I've been suffering from them all my life, I think the first Dr gave it the name Migraine in 1995. Onions seemed to be a big trigger until I gave up gluten now I can eat all the onion I want. Another trigger was my cycle and yet another was barometric...
  14. I wish I could give you answers but I don't know. I'm in a similar situation and reading your post I realize I left out of my post that I have a gluten eater in my house and lunchroom at work. I hope some of the mom's on here can give you some advice about the baby.
  15. The thing that I have complained to my Dr's about for years has been my migraines. In November my current Dr determined I had Celiac disease. At the time I was having as many as 16 days of migraine per month. Since then I had 4 in Nov, 4 in Dec, 4 in Jan, 3 in Feb, 2 in March, 1 in April, and so far 6 in May! In March and April I gave up Diet Coke for Lent...
  16. Before being diagnosed I had no idea stool wasn't supposed to float.
  17. I think Dr Lucy's are the best. They carry them at Earth Fare and Amazon. Mi-del ginger snaps are not bad and in my local store (Earth Fare) they are much cheaper than Dr Lucy's.
  18. Always remember friends don't make friends eat poison.
  19. I've had several people tell me they know other Celiac's or Gluten Intolerant people who are no where near as "neurotic" as I am. I was even told by a friend of the family that his wife is Celiac and she accepts our Church's regular Communion so it should be fine for me. I really want to find all these gluten lite people and explain to them how much trouble...
  20. I think developing celiac during college is a large part of why I never found a career. The last 8 years I've barely had the energy not to mention concentration to function let alone try to have some sort of career. I really regret not going into nutrition like I had originally planned. What a great field that would have been for me. I expect I would have...
  21. I'm curious too. The grits I have un-opened in my pantry are Quaker. The grits I've been eating were in an un-marked plastic jar on my kitchen counter, those gave me no problems but I don't know if they were Jim Dandy, Aunt Jemima, or Quaker.
  22. I think this a great point especially as you will probably be greatly out numbered by the women.
  23. I hope it helped. Thanks everyone. I guess I will just describe it the same as I did here and hopefully my Dr will understand. It is a very unpleasant feeling and I really want to avoid it. Of course I want to avoid gluten too but sometimes it finds a way through my defenses. I'm learning more everyday though so hopefully I'll get accidental gluten less...
  24. I'm right there with you on this. Now that I don't feel bad all the time feeling bad is much more frustrating than it was. I feel so much better it's amazing. For years I thought my health issues were age and would only get worse. Since going gluten free my arthritis is gone, I only get migraines when I accidentally ingest gluten, no more brain fog,...
  25. Hope you are feeling well today. Sorry to read about your wreck.
