ARCHIVED To Eat Or Not To Eat..
Fire Fairy replied to celia-with-celiac's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Welcome to the board! First suggestion I can think of is have you gluten proofed the kitchen? You don't want to use wood or plastic that has been used for gluten filled foods. You'll also want to avoid any scratched non-stick pans as they hold gluten in the scratch! In my kitchen we have separate areas for the gluten eater (my dad) to put his food.... -
It used to happen fairly frequently before I went gluten-free but honestly I can't remember it happening since the 1st few weeks gluten-free. I am now 7 months gluten-free and the past 2 nights I've woke myself up kicking my right leg uncontrollably. I'm guessing it's Restless Leg Syndrome. Any ideas? Should I be worried?

ARCHIVED What Am I Doing Wrong?
Fire Fairy replied to Fire Fairy's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I am now pretty confident the migraines came from the artificial sweeteners. Now I'm starting to the think the tummy trouble was caused by eggs. So I'm going Vegan and see if that fixes everything. It certainly can't hurt. -

ARCHIVED Easy Peanut Butter Cookies
Fire Fairy replied to Elfbaby's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Could the egg be replaced with applesauce? I'm afraid I may have issues with eggs. -
ARCHIVED Omg What Did I Do ...i Took A Chance Ugh
Fire Fairy replied to tammykinz's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Remember even one crumb of gluten can cause a reaction. So it could easily have started with the bun you didn't eat. Kareng is 100% right, none of that food was safe for someone with gluten problems. -
I have what I'm guessing are panic attacks sometimes when I get gluten. These are a totally new experience for me. I explained to the message board what it felt like and they gave me some good suggestions. First here is how I describe it. For no reason my fight or flight response kicked in. I knew there was nothing to fight or fly over so I had no clue what...

ARCHIVED Hey, I've Just Had My One-Year Anniversary Here!
Fire Fairy replied to Monklady123's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Congratulations! Happy Anniversary ! -
Hi Jemms! I "mysteriously" put on 50 pounds a few years ago without eating much more (if any more) than normal and yet I was always hungry. In November 2010 my Dr figured out I had a problem with gluten. Since November I've been gluten free. I've gone from 173 on November 2nd to 124 today! I went from family asking if I was pregnant to family asking if...

Thank you. That could be it too. Starting to seem like endless possibilities. -
ARCHIVED Ideas On What The Problem Might Be ?
Fire Fairy replied to Fire Fairy's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Thank you Jenniferxgfx. The fruit and nut idea is good one. I'll take the bars and the juice out of my diet and see what happens. I suppose it could be the almond milk I might have to try going without that too. -
ARCHIVED Ideas On What The Problem Might Be ?
Fire Fairy replied to Fire Fairy's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Honestly I am doing it for both reasons. I don't have animal protein issues but the more info I get on the safety of meat the more I think I'm better off without it. -

That would be so easy to drop. -
ARCHIVED Ideas On What The Problem Might Be ?
Fire Fairy replied to Fire Fairy's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Takala, I don't think it's the blender because it's brand new. I don't think it's the coffee because my mom drinks the coffee and has no problems with it. Could be the Kind bars. I didn't notice they had soy until I read your post and re-read the ingredients. I suppose it could also be the soaps I use to wash dishes? Korwyn, lots to think about, feeling... -
ARCHIVED Ideas On What The Problem Might Be ?
Fire Fairy replied to Fire Fairy's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Could be any of the above. I started this no pre-mixed gluten-free foods diet because I think I've been mysteriously glutenated several times in May. What do you think I should do next? I know taking out coffee will make me go into withdraw so I hate to do that if it isn't necessary. But if it is the problem I will get rid of it. Should I take eggs out for... -
ARCHIVED Ideas On What The Problem Might Be ?
Fire Fairy posted a topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Trying to find out if I have more food issues besides gluten and lactose. Starting last Sunday I've eliminated all prepackaged gluten-free foods except Lara bars and Kind Bars. May 30th Breakfast-Smoothie made of strawberry, banana, and Cran-Grape juice. Lunch-3 boiled eggs 1 cranberry Kind Bar Dinner-1 and 1/2 serving navy beans 1 and 1... -
ARCHIVED Observations We Can All Relate To...
Fire Fairy replied to MEH's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
In my case I think the disease set in about 10 years ago. I too feel like I missed out on a chunk of my life but on the bright side I now feel like I have life! I was very depressed and had awful brain fog. I also developed arthritis. I am now happy, clear headed and I can get down on the floor without creaking. I haven't had a single dizzy spell since... -
ARCHIVED Thinking About Having A Little Dairy....
Fire Fairy replied to WinterSong's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I made the mistake of having ice cream on my birthday 3 months after I stopped dairy. It didn't take long to know it was a mistake. You called them asking if they had soy milk, why not call and ask if you can bring your own? The worst they can do is say no. -
I'll take one of those tee shirts.

ARCHIVED One Year Anniversary!
Fire Fairy replied to anabananakins's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Congratulations! Good to know it's possible someday soon I can walk past the shells and cheese and not want to whimper. I try to think of it all as poison but I ate a lot of that particular poison before going gluten-free. It's amazing how much better I feel. I hope I feel as good as you sound like you do when I celebrate my anniversary! -
ARCHIVED When To Be Worried About Weight Lose
Fire Fairy replied to Fire Fairy's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I can't afford to lose 20 pounds. My Dr doesn't want me to lose more than one more pound. I think I could lose as much as 7 and still be okay, after that though I'm going to be looking really sickly. Right, so watch the calories and keep eating beans. Tonight I had wild rice and navy beans. It tasted great. -
ARCHIVED I Can't Stop Blathering On
Fire Fairy replied to catsmeow's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I suspect I'm the queen of blatherers! I'm gluten free since Nov 2nd 2010. Seems like I tell at least one person daily at work more than they could possibly want to know about Celiac. As a result some are really thoughtful. One co-worker gave me an orange the other day because she knew it was safe. On the other hand a co-worker handed me a used try from...
