  1. 5'5. I have an aunt who I strongly suspect has celiac who has lost a lot of height, she can't really stand straight anymore. Sadly she will never change her diet.
  2. I had been writing down what I was eating in a blank journal. After reading this topic I'm starting an online food diary with myfitnesspal. I'm pretty impressed so far and I like that i can print it to show my Dr when I go for my checkup in a few months.
  3. I've got my mom eating gluten free and one of my aunts is going to try it. Mom is feeling much better now. She had been to the hospital twice in six months for gastro-intestinal issues not to mention she's been having symptoms of celiac disease since at least 1975. I'm pretty sure that her side of the family tree is filled with celiacs. PS after my...
  4. A co-worker gave me the same article. I think some people are doing the fad gluten free diet because they see people like me who drop weight after going gluten free and then they think it's an easy way to lose weight. A different co-worker is doing just that. She tells me what she ate every once in awhile, she's not really gluten free but she thinks...
  5. Mine too! My oldest cat hasn't plucked out any fur since going grain free! I'm very happy.
  6. I was anemic. I'm a human yoyo and I think it was due to undiagnosed Celiac disease. In 1998 I was a size 4. In the Fall 2001 (age 26)I was a size 8. By Spring I was a size 2. I started gaining in the Fall of 2003 and got up to a size 12 before losing again. Spring 2007 I was a size 4 again but by Fall I was once more a 12 then I slowly creeped up to a 1...
  7. So glad to hear that my post helped you in coping with this crazy gluten filled world. :)Your comment made me smile and for that I thank you. ;)

  8. Thank you Jason for the warning about Daura. And thanks Monkeylady for the recommendation.
  9. I knew Halls were safe but I didn't know about Ricola, thanks. I hope you're feeling better now.
  10. They are advertising a gluten free product that lists wheat as an ingredient??? I figured Panera was a big no no due to cross contamination anyway.
  11. FarmCat has a good idea there. I know I've tasted shaving cream when I've kissed a man before.
  12. Thank you Sylvia and Tiffany.
  13. I have several old aprons (pre-diagnoses) and I'm wondering if I can just run them through the wash and safely use them for gluten free cooking, of if I should buy a new one? It seems like washing them should be fine but I don't know how well cloth holds onto gluten and I know these aprons have been covered in flour. I'm rather a messy baker.
  14. Too cute. I've had cats occasional send a catnip mouse in for a dip but never several times in a row. I did have a kitty who hunted hard candy and would put it my dad's bedroom slipper. She was a character, but then aren't they all?
  15. I craved gluten when I was still eating it so I too think you might have a CC problem. I must admit that I find magazine covers with beautiful baked goods a form of torture but I haven't craved anything. And I went gluten free just before the holidays! I don't know maybe I am just lucky but I'd have to suggest looking for CC issues.
  16. I can see my fat boy now, watching me throw the kibble...and waiting until enough food lands in one place to slowly walk over to eat. It's a great idea and I think it will work for my chubby dog but the fat cat I can't see going for it.
  17. The vet tried that route, we had Feliway air diffusers but they didn't help. It's a good thought but I'm hoping it is a food allergy.
  18. Any suggestions what sweets are gluten and casein free? I know Sour Patch Kids, Swedish Fish, and I think Skittles. I had found a website of gluten free candy a few days ago but now I can't find it anywhere. I would love to find out there was a easy to find Valentine candy I could safely eat. I don't know why I've never been big on Valentines before and I...
  19. I believe/hope that if you continue eating nutritious food you will eventually lose the weight. Do as the others suggested and give it a few months. Our bodies work at their own pace.
  20. I thought it was a chocolate boar like a peppermint pig. I can just imagine it.
  21. Hello Mikki, "Don't Panic" (old catch phrase). It takes time to heal. Takala is right you probably need some supplements and staying off dairy for a little while is probably very wise. My Dr told me to take Twin Labs Daily Two with Iron, Bluebonnet Ubiquinol 100mg, Bluebonnet Cal/Mag/D and Bluebonnet D. Be sure any vitamins/supplements are gluten free...
  22. Thank you. I'm keeping my fingers crossed. They are eating their new food very well. I have been easing them into it slowly and I think it's working quite well.
  23. My cats have lived to a great age as well. I currently have a 15 yr old and a 14 yr old. I really worry about my fat boy (who is a little over 5 yrs) developing diabetes. It's mostly for him I want to change their diet. But it hopefully will also help the oldest with her skin problems.
  24. Mine are indoor only cats so they don't hunt. I can't afford to feed them only meat. In fact in order to go grain free I'm forced to reduce their canned food by half. The grain free canned food cost more than three times the cost of their old cans. I am only working part time as a cashier so I'm afraid money matters. Surely they will be healthier on the grain...
