  1. Hm. Now the past couple days I've woken up tired with my hands really stiff, bad breath, and BO. I had D this morning and then this afternoon had really bad tummy pain after eating my wheat today. I think I'm back to paradoxical D now (basically C and D at the same time, which I've had on and off for years). However, I did have a very stressful afternoon...
  2. I agree you need to get copies of the tests, but I'd go a step further and get a copy of my entire chart. If you call ahead, the office can get it printed up for you. Usually the older records are archived and it takes some doing to get them. Reading through my chart and my kids' charts was enlightening! I haven't been able to get my childhood records which...
  3. Azure standard repackages food that you get in shared facilities. We do get some things from them but only in the largest, pre-repackaging quantities. Sorghum is one on the typically cross contaminated list, and azure is easy to get on the phone. I'd call and ask about the practices from field to end product for the things you order before ordering. Bobs...
  4. Make sure the yogurt he is eating has live cultures! You can also introduce other probiotic foods like homemade (or bubbies refrigerated) sauerkraut. You might also look into making sure that gluten is really, truly eliminated from his diet! I have blog posts on the blog linked from my profile about being 100% gluten-free. If you search on cross contamination...
  5. It sounds like you may benefit from a diet like GAPS. It is aimed at restoring gut health and healing leaky guts. This is the diet my family has been on since February. I have a whole series of posts on this diet on the blog linked from my profile as well as links to the book, etc. The diet completely eliminates all but monosacharide sugars, resulting...
  6. I just had someone tell me about Cyrex labs cross-reactivity tests and when I went to their site saw that they offer Mucosal Gluten Reactivity Screen that I'd seen mentioned here on this site a couple times. I'm very interested to learn more about this. Open Original Shared Link Does anyone have neutral information on the validity of the Cyrex labs...
  7. Processed gluten-free stuff doesn't sit well with us. Staying away from it is for the best. We reseasoned our cast iron successfully, and got used stainless steel pots.
  8. Stress really can cause tummy trouble. I have that happen to me. However, I used to actually have to run to the restroom in public. Gluten-free that has gone away. (I should say, I don't know that I have celiac - I have some genetic risk and have just started a gluten challenge after a year gluten-free. We're 99.9% sure our son has celiac disease.) With...
  9. If yeast is an issue, you may want to look into a diet like GAPS or SCD. They are based on creating a good flora balance in the body while reducing inflammation and providing readily digestible food.
  10. I'm trying. So far I haven't had any symptoms that jump out at me as scary. It's all been pretty mild so far. I will definitely keep an eye on it, though. Thanks for the suggestion. Since I don't drink milk (or substitute milks, except in baking) I think I'll stick with the cooking for now. It's not bad - I have one little tiny dedicated pot and just boil...
  11. Why don't you get your daughter tested for celiac with blood tests? She has classic symptoms.
  12. Yeah. Fortunately bad moods haven't struck (yet?). I seem happy and stable. I sure do stink, though. Maybe everyone will get a cold this winter and they won't have to put up with me. My gas subsided this morning and we are going to a movie this afternoon so I decided not to eat the farina this morning and to wait until after the movie. I do not want to be...
  13. Thanks for the well wishes. I've started eating the farina once or twice a day, about 1/4 cup prior to cooking each time. I'm keeping the rest of my diet very neutral. The first day was totally fine. Second day I got very mild brain fog and was a bit constipated and horrid gas. Third day gas was worse and i had some diarrhea but not bad. I did have to run...
  14. I hate when people apologize for writing too much. To really give a good answer, we need *information*! If I don't have time to read something long, I just won't read it. No one is forcing me! When I read what others have written, I get something out of it. I agree with the others who have a problem with people asking questions then not coming back with...
  15. Oh, I just want to give you a hug!!! This is a really hard time of year to get a diagnosis, especially when your family doesn't understand. The first thought I had when reading your post was "Why doesn't she get a hair piece while she heals?" If you had chemo and lost your hair, wouldn't your husband let you get a wig or buy some cute hats? You will feel...
  16. It was great! We made a "parallel" meal and brought everything (turkey, chestnut stuffing, cranberry sauce, brussels sprouts, roasted cauliflower, salad, fermented veggies, squash pie with almond crust & homemade vanilla ice cream) for us to eat along side theirs. We did bring a salad and pickled veggie tray to share as well. I even invented my own new...
  17. Well, I had a very good couple weeks and have been eating the soy free eggs without a problem. I've also started using digestive enzymes which have really improved things. Thanksgiving was great, and I feel totally fine. So... today I am starting the challenge. I'm using Bob's Red Mill Whole Wheat Farina. I'm thinking it may not be an issue at all. My...
  18. I think it's possible that when she's staying dry with motivation it's because she might take a lot of trips to the bathroom that she doesn't feel the need for. That way she would empty her bladder before it emptied itself unexpectedly.
  19. I agree that GAPS might help, and that you really need to look into other possible issues with your digestion besides just celiac. On the blog linked from my profile I have a summary of how to do the first 6 stages as well as other posts about how to get set up for it. I really believe that raw food is much harder on the digestive system for most people...
  20. I get those kinds of symptoms when I'm hypoglycemic. You might want to take note of when it happens and what/how recently you've eaten to see if there is a correlation. Of course it could be completely unrelated to food as well and be more of a mechanical issue. Have you been doing anything different? Typing more, taken up an instrument, done a lot of...
  21. I don't think it's hairy tongue. My whole mouth gets coated and is dry and sticky and stinky. In fact all of me gets stinky! It was chance that we figured out the connection. I'm very curious about what component of cheese is the problem. I can eat yogurt!
  22. It could be a result of candida die off. If you've stopped eating a lot of starches/sugars the yeasties get hungry and that can flare up eczema - it gets worse before it gets better.
  23. I get a disguisting, coated, dry mouth from eating cheese. It usually shows up when I am asleep and is terrible for a few days if I eat cheese. It's better when I eat or drink, but comes right back a bit after I'm done. I also get BO and dandruff along with the bad breath and dry mouth. Does this sound like what you get?
  24. Did you say something to warn the boy? I think the chef must be reported up the chain of command, in writing, and the boy's parents need to be informed of what happened. This is completely unacceptable. It is also the reason I don't trust other people to feed my family.
  25. Are you getting fat and probiotic foods? Our family does the GAPS diet which is aimed at creating a good gut flora balance. It wouldn't be a huge departure from the paleo way of eating. On the blog linked from my profile I have a series of posts outlining the intro. Google for more! I highly recommend the book.
