  1. Oh, these make me want rice back! I love pot stickers!
  2. We have a recipe for grain free pie crust on the website linked from my profile. It's called "almond crust" I think.
  3. Katrala your treats look amazing. You went all out! This Christmas was the first time we've stayed home in years. Our house is too small to host many people but my mom, stepdad, and brother came over and we had lunch together. I made my (grain free nut free dairy free gaps legal) chestnut stuffing and this time it turned out great! The recipe and a photo...
  4. I haven't heard of celiac test results in the way you are reporting them. Can you explain what test was done and report the full results? 2 months eating gluten after a lifetime gluten-free may not have been long enough to redamage your gut enough for a positive biopsy or blood test. How much gluten were you eating before your re-test. I've heard you should...
  5. I get the nervous belly feeling, too. It had gotten worse and worse before I cut out gluten, and I even eventually started getting D when I had that nervous feeling. This had gotten especially bad after I got really sick about 6 years ago. I've always actually been more prone to constipation. When I first went gluten-free it got horrible. I think this was...
  6. About the constipation... Are you giving her lots of fiber? That could actually be making it worse. Surprisingly the low fiber gaps diet has helped my constipation. When we went gluten free before gaps I had the worst constipation in my life. I think it was the rice flour products that reall did me in.
  7. Puffy eyes and bags are very typical of allergies, seasonal and otherwise. My son had them until a few weeks after we we cut out corn (he has an IgE reaction to it). The bags come back when his seasonal allergies flare up, but since changing our diet that rarely happens any more we're on the gaps diet, btw, and you can read our story on my blog if you like...
  8. I'm not super sensitive but my son is definitely on that spectrum. We are completely grain free as well (GAPS diet). I eat leftovers from dinner a lot, and the kids rely heavily on eggs. Winter squash/egg/nut butter soufflees and crepes are a go to. Applesauce (homemade) can sub for the squash. Sausage (basically ground pork that we season ourselves) is a...
  9. Absolutely right. Merry Christmas
  10. Like they said, you need a new GI. A doctor who laughs at you is not a doctor you want. That said, if there is any chance of educating this doctor a bit better, that could go a long way to sparing other people her ignorance. If you decide to go to another doctor I'd write a letter outlining your reasons for firing her. If you decide to try and keep...
  11. Beachbirdie is right, you don't have all the necessary tests there. You can't even know the validity of any test involving IgA unless your Total IgA has been tested. I hope you were able to find my blog post - all the tests and descriptions are listed there. I'm not allowed to link to it which is why I didn't give you the link.
  12. It's not for sure that a biopsy would prove what you already know. It could be positive or negative. The benefit of doing the biopsy would be to find the extent of celiac damage if there is some, or to confirm negative for celiac if there isn't. Either way it sounds like you'll want to try the gluten free diet for a couple months to see if it helps. Did...
  13. Skylark beat me to it, and is right on. We introduced navy beans and lima beans (allowed on GAPS full diet - AFTER intro) first. The rest of the family was fine... I had trouble. You can ferment beans. Here is how from the Open Original Shared Link site: On the blog linked from my profile I have a breakdown of how to do each GAPS stage that you might...
  14. I'm getting really tired of this condescending discounting of other people's experiences, Gemini. Of all the ways he could have been glutened, the plate made the most sense in a number of ways (timing, likelihood, the only thing he was putting in his mouth that could have any chance of being glutened, etc). His gluten reactions are very specific and obvious...
  15. I get the light yellow stools and have found digestive enzymes help. You might look into gaps as well. It is similar to paleo but includes more probiotic foods and has a set progression of introducing foods, and is all about healing the gut. There are lots of posts here and on my blog about it.
  16. I think eating no-calorie food is a terrible idea, on principle. Food is fuel, people!
  17. Yes, yes, yes!!! We are homeschoolers but my kids do classes and camps. I have personally told teachers "handwashing with soap and running water, not sanitizer" is necessary before eating for my son, and after eating for all children using shared materials, and put it in writing, with a confirmed response as well. In one class the teacher seemed very...
  18. This is what "cross-reactive to oats" means, as I said. The Bob's Red Mill gluten-free facility is gluten-free, however, it processes gluten-free oats. People who are cross-reactive to oats can react to the other products processed there.
  19. Oh and you can read about our experience on the blog linked from my profile at Our Story and Going 100% Gluten Free
  20. Bobs red mill has a dedicated facility but processes gluten free oats, which is why people who are cross reactive to oats have a problem. I have to say we started off with gemini's approach and it wasn't enough. Whole foods and care with cc have been very important to our son. Whenever I relax he gets glutened. I let him eat off a handwashed dish (her...
  21. In time, if you are polite and consistant, most people will get it. It can be helpful if you can identify something safe they cam share. (dont do it if you are too sensitive, though!) My mom is delighted that I've started letting my kids have whole fruit they can wash and peel at her house. I have a few posts on how to handle this kind of thing on the blog...
  22. I don't know if my son counts as super sensitive but he definitely reacts to cc. Anyway, the best thing has been that since he does get sick from cc he is actually very serious about staying gluten free, and the people around us believe it. Worst thing is, of course, the kid getting sick, and not being able to get an official diagnosis because of it.
  23. I'm not much of a baker and never really liked cake but I'm sure others have you covered there. Open Original Shared Link in my town won the food network's cupcake wars! My mom had all gluten-free cakes at her wedding because they happened to be her favorite cakes, and she is a gluten-a-holic. So I know it can be done! As for coping with the holidays...
  24. I can't link to the ones we like, but we have thermos brand thermoses that keep food hot 7 hours. I actually prefer using the smaller ones... enough for two bowls of soup. It's nice to be able to take two different hot things rather than just one. We do have a large one as well with the two cups, which is nice when more than one person is going somewhere...
