  1. Kimball Genetics division of Labcorp is who we used. They send just the summary to your dr, but if you call the genetic councilor they will give the full results.
  2. You say all you want to eat is soup... so eat it! The diet (GAPS) that has been so healing for our family is based completely in soups made from bone and meat broth. You add veggies, meats, and probiotic foods to it. You might also like naturally probiotic foods. Have you tried homemade sauerkraut? It's super easy to make (instructions on my blog) and...
  3. I'm so glad you told your fiance! If you haven't been gluten-free yet, the cake will probably give you the same reactions as before. But if you've been gluten-free the past couple weeks I really wouldn't want to chance it for my wedding night! Why chance ruining your honeymoon for a piece of cake, no matter how delicious? I understand the baker not wanting...
  4. We found a lot of cc in alternate flours. That said, it sounds like the students are the biggest problem. Until you get that sorted, it will be very hard to tell which/if the foods you are eating are problematic.
  5. GLUTEN IS NOT DESTROYED BY THE MICROWAVE!!!! It is a protein, not a germ to kill. To denature it I've read over 600 degrees. Use separate sponges and switch them out if you are afraid they've been contaminated.
  6. I'm late to the party but I have a big post about how to Go 100% Gluten Free on the blog linked from my profile. I do think at least having dedicated knives, pots, cutting boards, small appliances and cabinets are critical. It's also important to do a thorough deep clean if you ever had gluten in your kitchen.
  7. I think if your child is in school or may be in school in the future, a formal diagnosis and a 504 plan when they enter the system is important. Just dealing with our own private options (homeschool resource center FULL of people with special diets, and other camps and classes) we have had a hard enough time making sure accommodations are appropriate....
  8. My breath (and body odor) is directly related to what I eat. Cheese and sugar both make it awful. It's not like pepperoni, though.
  9. We do GAPS which is very similar to (based on) SCD. It starts out much simpler to allow for maximum healing and then builds from there. At first all you eat are bone broths with the meat from the bone and certain vegetables cooked thoroughly in the broth. If you do not have IgE reactions to these foods, you will probably find you can tolerate them if added...
  10. I used to do those subs when I had a vegan husband. But now I don't eat flax or the stuff in egg replacer, either. Fruits don't work as leavening or binder, though they are tasty and moist. My partner uses coconut flour a lot and those recipes use at least twice the eggs you'd expect. Usually when the family eats eggs they are used as a protein source, even...
  11. Do you get the same reaction if you just eat a plain egg? I'm very suspicious of processed products in general. That said, it's turned out that I have an intolerance to eggs. But my symptoms are nothing like from gluten. I just get potently sulfurous gas!!! I had one bite of a deviled egg and one bite of a brownie made with eggs last week and farted constantly...
  12. Legit organizations do not send kids out door to door without adults, identification, information about the organizations. They also train kids to be polite and take no for an answer. You are right to be suspicious of kids with boxes of krispy cremes who continually come back to your house.
  13. We make our own probiotic foods but have also found gutpro probiotic powder. Here are their answers to my questions: 1. What are the details of the Gluten Free claim?
  14. We make it with organic raw whole milk, and use Nancy's yogurt as the starter. It turns out great. I have problems with cheese and none of us eat uncultured dairy, but so far the yogurt has turned out to be great for all of us. Yogurt is fermented with bacterial cultures, not yeast, and can combat yeast infections. I'm not sure what the risk is as far...
  15. For us it's $225 per person to the council to buy out of participating in the fundraisers!!! We also pay annual registration fees and registration fees for some of the events. Plus we have to buy the uniforms, curriculum, emblems, etc. Individual clubs decide how to handle any additional dues. Participating in the fundraisers helps pay for the program...
  16. It's strange that the same kids are coming back to your door and fighting with you. Where are their parents/leaders? Our kids are trained to be very polite, take no for an answer, and to only ask people once. On your end, remember the kids aren't trying to make you eat it, they are participating in a mandatory fundraiser for the activities they are in...
  18. That said... Pastures beef is all kinds of better for you (and cows, and farmers) than CAFO beef. Look into it!
  19. Yes! Do see if you can schedule the endo regardless. That way you can start the gluten-free diet ASAP!
  20. In Portland, oregon the Corbett fish house and Hawthorne fish house come to mind. There are others as well a bakeries and food carts. However, I am not well versed since we don't eat other grains and only rarely ate out at all in the first place.
  21. What do you mean by meals that are proportioned? Are these frozen meals or something?
  22. Don't eat more wheat!!! That swelling could be the precursor to a fatal reaction! But do go get celiac testing ASAP if at all possible. Make sure you get a full panel done, and schedule that biopsy for as soon as possible, too. There are lot of reasons for possible false negatives, and lots of threads about it on the forum. I have a post on totally...
  23. Definitely look into it. You might also look intothe GAPS diet (there is a blog linked from my profile with resources). It has helped many people with autism but does go beyond gluten-free/CF to actual healing. My daughter is tiny (never hit growth chart - is now 12.5 years, 4'4 3/4" tall and something like 50-55lbs) she has tourette's and some other issues...
  24. I got the kids tested with kimball genetics division of labcorp. They only sent a summary to my dr but I was able to call and get the full result.
  25. Overall: Are you getting enough fat? What are your portion sizes like? Do you eat or drink caffeine or alcohol? Breakfast: does not look substantial enough to me. It looks like you are atrting the day with little but sugar. Try leftovers, soup, meat, eggs if you can have them, etc. Lunch: are you eating enough? Lettuce is like eating water IMO....
