ARCHIVED Is My Doctor Overzealous In Diagnosing Me With Celiacs?
hnybny91 replied to atyose's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Count your blessings honey. Many of us went through YEARS of unneccessary tests to never get a diagnosis. Try the gluten free diet and see if it helps and then you will have your answer. -
ARCHIVED Going To See A Natropath Next Tuesday
hnybny91 replied to hnybny91's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
My birds mostly eat safflower seeds and other seeds but maybe those fruity pebbles looking things have gluten in them. Oh boy, that would be bad because I could not give them up. My family jokes that I love my birds more than I love them...ha ha. -
ARCHIVED Going To See A Natropath Next Tuesday
hnybny91 replied to hnybny91's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Yeah, I think I am being careful enough. I even changed the birds to gluten free cereal (they like round shped ceral as a treat.) Yeah, my son thinks I am nuts to change the birds to gluten free but they get lots of kisses from mama I am starting to wonder though - I wonder if my Vitamin D levels could be low again. I started off at 17 and despite taking... -

My DD loves the Pacific tomato soup. I have to buy several containers of it every time I am at Sprouts. -
ARCHIVED Going To See A Natropath Next Tuesday
hnybny91 posted a topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Well, I have been gluten free since January 2nd and the difference was AMAZING. I no longer feel like I am dying (no joke.) But...the last few weeks I have begun to feel like I did when I first started to get sick almost four years ago - tired, achy, bloated. I am pretty sure I am not consuming gluten so I suspect there are other food intollerances that are... -
I got glutened at Carrabbas off of their gluten free menu (I suspect the cook put the grill sauce on my chicken)and I threw up half way through my meal! Wierd thing is, I was known for NEVER throwing up in my gluten eating life so now that I am gluten free I throw up when I get glutened. I think your body just says, "WHOA! I thought we got rid of this crap...

ARCHIVED Ok, I'm Getting Really Freaked Out!
hnybny91 replied to jeslk's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Sadly you do have to be a little paranoid. My DD's birthday was the other day and she wanted grilled cheese sandwiches for her birthday. She is gluten free like me so I grilled hers on the George Foreman grill and then made her boyfriend some mini quesadillas on the same grill. I wiped the grill with a sponge and then made mine with gluten free bread. I got... -
It is possible for DH to still rear it's ugly head after going gluten free. It takes YEARS for the anti-bodies under the skin to die off. If I get accidentally glutened (even trace amounts in "gluten free" products) I get new bumps. Also, if it is DH it is also activated by iodine so switch out your salt and avoid things like seaweed and asparagus and...

I chew Spry gum and it is gluten free. It does have xylitol so if you are corn sensitive it won't work.

ARCHIVED Ore Ida
hnybny91 replied to Emilushka's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
It could be the cheese. I am in denial that I may have issues with either lactose or casein because I LOVE LOVE LOVE cheese I know I eventually have to find out if I ever want to get completely better. I am just glad I don't feel like I am dying anymore so if dairy is the thing that is lingering I am not ready yet...LOL -
ARCHIVED Good Recipes For These Grains?

I love quinoa and I usually just substitute half the quinoua with lentils and cook it chicken broth. -
ARCHIVED Ore Ida
hnybny91 replied to Emilushka's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Not sure. I had the opposite problem with gluten (the big C instead of the big D) but I also never used to throw up before and now when i get gluten I either throw up or get very nauseas. I think I am going to have to break down and pay for the bolld allergy testing. I am tired of trying to figure out if I am somehow still getting glutened or if it is another... -
ARCHIVED Yeast?
hnybny91 replied to modiddly16's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Well, now that she has gotten snippy with you I would definitely send her a link that says yeast is gluten free and set her straight on the IBS thing. IBS is not Celiac but a lot of stupid doctors misdiagnose and she isn't helping! -
I found gluten free cream of chicken and cream of mushroom at Sprouts the other day - as well as gluten free creamy tomato soup. I miss Cheez-its! They just came out with some amazing flavors too that I was hooked on when I figured out I can't eat gluten

ARCHIVED Ore Ida
hnybny91 replied to Emilushka's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I don't know if this has been said specifically but now that I am reading lables I noticed that there is annato in a lot of cheeses. Am I really that stupid to not know all this time that a lot of cheese has to be colored? I woke up at 2 am this morning with the big D and now I wonder if it was the annato in the cheddar jack cheese I put in my grilled cheese... -
ARCHIVED Updates From Revlon & Wet 'n Wild
hnybny91 replied to shopgirl's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I think Revlons reply was a cop out. You really can not give a list of the products that don't actually contain gluten? Almost EVERYTHING has a POSSIBILITY of cross contamination and if we went by those POSSIBILITIES we would be left bare faced and anorexic! -
ARCHIVED Where Are The Key Spots That Dh Appear? Are They The Same As Echema?
hnybny91 replied to hockeymomofceliacchild's topic in Dermatitis Herpetiformis
The place I get DHH lesions the most is my upper arm. I also get quite a few between my knee and ankle. I get a lot on my upper chest too. Mine are also scattered and I don't have a lot clustered together. -

hnybny91 replied to Rob-A's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
WTH??? Why don't doctors realize that they work for US? Was he paying the bill? NO! So why on earth woud he "try to save you money" when you specifically requested a biopsy? UNBELIEVEABLE!!! -

ARCHIVED How Many People Are Actually Self-diagnosed?
hnybny91 replied to no-more-muffins's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
You are an idiot! I spent four years and thousands of dollars having test after test after test because the doctors I saw were too ignorant to realize that I had celiac Disease AND dermatitis hepeteformis. ONE FRIGGIN WEEK on a gluten free diet made me feel like a human being again. Yes, I am self diagnosed and yes I will scream from the rooftop that I HAVE... -
ARCHIVED Backwards Symptoms?
hnybny91 replied to Bastian's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Your sister's second doctor is an IDIOT!!! Why would he have her try out wheat after a positive biopsy? That is just CRAZY!!! Nobody needs wheat, barley or rye to survive! -
ARCHIVED Forget Doctors (Or At Lest Mine)
hnybny91 replied to NancyL's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
What a stupid doctor! So what if you go "overboard" with gluten free??? Nobody needs gluten to survive! Even if you don't have Celiacs (which you probably do) you would not be doing ANY harm to yourself by cutting out gluten completely. On the other hand, if you DO have celiac and you still eat some gluten (not going overboard by her standards) you could... -
it was suspected at one time that I had early signs of MS too. It is crazy all the things gluten can do to your body!
