  1. You're not alone now. You have us. We care. Keep us posted.
  2. I second that!!! But it is immensely easier to have a totally gluten-free hubs, I admit it. So, let's give Addy a big (hug) and say ...sorry, hunny. A, I would not necessarily dismiss that he has "no effects" from gluten. Let's see what happens the more he adds back in. Not wishing him any ill health, of course. I just think your original...
  3. No hon, if you read the entire discussion, you would have seen that SOME tomato pastes MADE WITH ITALIAN HERBS contain wheat (not sure why they do, but that's another story) Tomato paste, in general, does not. I use Hunt's tomato paste all the time- no problem. Checking the label is always a good idea. Hope this clears it up for you? Welcome...
  4. Well said....and I agree completely. We are here for you and we are trying to give you our very best advice. Best wishes to you.
  5. There you go again, avoiding the part you missed. She stopped the gluten. The doc did not tell her to do that. And, I'll try to explain it again. You said "the better GI". well, yeah, but, that's a "hypothetical" situation. We are talking with the OP and HER situation. The GI she has scheduled a biopsy, despite a negative blood test....
  6. The OP stated she went off gluten herself after the blood work. She also stated the doctor's office told her to stay on it. So she resumed it. In your rush to pick a fight with me (as always) you may have missed that part. yes, of course, IDEALLY a gluten challenge should be done once and both tests done. But this was not the case. All I said...
  7. ....but not to where one becomes paranoid that gluten "lurks " everywhere. That will just make us anxious and cause wrinkles (and who needs those?) I guess I could be accused of being a tad on the OCD side myself, but it was long before I had to deal with being a gluten detective. Some of us are just "particular" about the way we like things...
  8. Blood tests can be falsely negative for many reasons. A good GI will do the endo/biopsy anyway. (even though most docs think the standard "protocol" says he should not bother if they are neg) You sound like you are in good hands. Good luck, hon. Hang in there. Keep us posted.
  9. I have to say that I think your doctor is remarkably unique and enlightened. He really wants to help you get a DX. We often hear others report that doctors say "blood work is negative, therefore, you can't have celiac" (that assumption nearly killed me). As a result, listening to my former GI doc kept me ill for 12 years. It must be hellish to go through...
  10. could be! Thank the heavens for this man. He is truly our celiac champion.
  11. I had my first cup today. Tasted fine with some lemon. That's it; that's all I got so far. Yours ever hopeful, IH
  12. Me too! and then, I saw a pic of him and it was confirmed...and when Babs met with him, my first question was...so, is he as handsome as I think??
  13. No baked goods made from wheat, rye or barley or contaminated oats is ever safe for a celiac. Period. You can bake the beejeepers out of it, and it will still CONTAIN the gluten protein. Are you referencing something someone said about a charcoal fire and a grill perhaps?
  14. For so many reasons it is good you saw him in a clinical setting before he moves on !! (he is pretty hunky. ) Well, perhaps his research has him very busy (which is all good for us) I see he has stepped up research on zonulin and how it makes celiacs have "leaky" guts. He is looking at preventative meds for us. He he has always been an outstanding...
  15. Dump the pepsi and stick to pure water for a while.
  16. or try So Delicious Coconut milk. Tastes great, has lots of calcium and works well in just about every recipe that calls for milk.
  17. Not my favorite part either, but at least this year, I am well enough to help again. whoohoo! Slow cooker being put to work again (you guys have me convinced-- it is a GREAT idea!) Pork ribs, sauerkraut, potatoes , onions all seasoned with peppercorns, caraway, bay, juniper berries and some white wine. I found this recipe on Chowhound. ...
  18. The celiac center states: "We recommend new celiac patients receive follow-up testing twice in the first year after their diagnosis. The first appointment should occur 3 to 6 months after the diagnosis, and the second should occur after 1 year on the gluten-free diet. After that, a celiac patient should receive follow-up testing on a yearly basis...
  19. that'll work
  20. and she says that with LOVE!! and I second it....eat these healthy fats and a big old burger of you want!. I just baked an acorn squash rubbed with coconut oil and it's gonna be de-lish with beef filet.
  21. yes, very sweet! that's the bunz!
  22. I agree.
  23. don't start, missy or you're gonna get a time out.
  24. Well, I expect "reactions" from him, but they do not involve gluten. The minuscule amount of wheat that may possibly (read as : remotely) be in a fleck of mascara or eye makeup would not concern me or my hubs at all. Lipstick is the biggest concern for gluten CC in makeup. And the people who live with WEs and swap spit regularly say BRUSH...
