  1. If you want a Celiac diagnosis, you will have to go back on gluten for a few months and have a biopsy. Just doing a "scope" is not a diagnostic tool. You need a biopsy. Celiac is not an allergy. That is a misnomer. It is an autoimmune disease. You can have a wheat allergy, but that is a different mechanism. Your symptoms are significant, so...
  2. Celiac is diagnosed by a celiac panel. There is no scientific, proven test for gluten sensitivity YET. Blood and urine testing that showed what exactly? What did he tell you you have exactly? I looked at Design for Health and cannot seem to get any info on what this testing is FOR?? You cannot access the website. A CMP--a comprehensive metabolic...
  3. My friend, you make "leftovers" sound like four-star dining. Those baked beans would have made my Bostonian Gramma swoon. And potato salad without capers--while it may make some of us say "waaa?" why do we need capers exactly?? --we both know it will not suffer much without them. I bet it is drool-worthy. Kuddos for punting while away...
  4. First of all, it is only day 5 off gluten and you are still getting the gluten out of your system. So, you could be feeling pretty wonky from that still. It takes a LONG time to heal a bad gut, hon. Most of us feel like we go a few steps forward and then one back at the beginning. It takes some people YEARS to heal their guts. And just to be clear,...
  5. Hoping our member "Cara in Boston" will see this. Maybe she can help. Let me see if I can get her to chime in.
  6. "de-crumbling"...good word!! I know, honey, I'm just teasing ya. Trying to get yer mind off....ya know......hey, how about this heat?
  7. Tell him to keep his crumbs, his paws and his lips off you until he scrubs up. Tell him you need a hazmat suit Think of that actor Jeffrey Tambor yelling NO CROSS CONTAMINATION! NO TOUCHING!! ...
  8. I see that despite my "poor directions", you managed to find this thread.
  9. See, now, don't you feel better?
  10. Sorry, I thought I had. My mistake.
  11. Not sure if any of you saw this recent thread, but it is a link to a very funny commentary on being gluten-free. Thought you guys might get a giggle out if it. Edited**
  12. You need to laugh your head off right now, so look at this: when you get to the site, there are about 13 pages, so keep scrolling.
  13. This is freakin HYSTERICAL!! Thanks so much for posting it. At first I was like then I was like   and I sent it to everyone in my email world....gluten-free or not. you get a big ole kiss for this! MMMWWWWAA!!!
  14. Thank YOU for a positive message about how we can all deal with the hand we've been dealt, how fortunate we may be, despite this disease, and how we should see that many times, people really do want to be accomodating. Saying you have had many extremely positive experiences is very good to hear.
  15. Do NOT try to over- exercise until your muscles have healed some more!! I made this mistake so many times. I will tell you what my doc said to me: Slow and steady wins the race. Yeah, I don't like that either, but it is what it is. We have to be patient with tissue and muscle repair. I want to share something else with you. This young woman...
  16. I just saw this, sorry, but I wanted to add: I think she may have just forgotten to post the complete results. I told her all the tests she needed done including DGP and Antigliadin antibodies and she brought that list to the doctor and the lab tech verified them all with her and him ---while she was in the lab. So, hopefully, they were all done.
  17. A good phlebotomist can get at your veins using a winged infusion set also known as a "butterfly infusion set" or "scalp vein infusion set". They are often used with people who have spasticity, or thin, "rolling" blood vessels difficult to access. Like me! Celiac is diagnosed through blood test, biopsy and medical history. Sometimes, genetic testing...
  18. I use it in "mock rye bread", for example. I think it has a nutty flavor. Open Original Shared Link
  19. It is my deepest hope that you will see that sensitive skin sensation go away. I had it. I wanted to die rather than put up with that sh*t. Misery for years. I heard the word fibro, too from doctors who guessed what it could be going on inside me. I was ON FIRE from head to toe and I could barely stand the water in the shower or towel drying off. Hurt...
  20. You can use just egg white alone (I do that in my bread too) and as Skylark says, just add a bit of water if it is too dry.
  21. A more cost-effective source for blanched almond flour is here: Open Original Shared Link
  22. Have a GREAT time and be sure to update us after!! Safe journey!
  23. If you want some potato chips, try Cape Cod chips? Dedicated facility and made with canola oil, not corn or soybean oil.
  24. oh boy, have we have heard of it, Sunny and many of us went though it and soon, it will pass. It's a frequent question on here and many of us can relate to the weirdness of it all. Sorry you feel icky right now. I know you have been struggling mightily the last 2 weeks, but I have to applaud you for being so strong and following through like...
  25. Agree completely. No substitutions for sides is BS!!!--the food is right there in the kitchen! What the big deal?
