  1. Hon, please be careful with the ativan and sleep meds. ok? They can cause some seriously weird rebound symptoms and withdrawal. Have a good day tomorrow!
  2. ANYONE suffering from malabsorption or recovering from celiac should NEVER, ever FAST!! Sorry, but anyone who suggests this is not considering the long term ramifications we have suffered. I do not think it wise at all. A fasting period will not suddenly resolve your symptoms or make your hair grow back in. I know, I am still trying to grow mine...
  3. Wheat means wheat!!!....so, nope!
  4. Sunny, You have been gluten free for 3 weeks or so, right? Hon, do not expect a "quick fix". NO ONE --I repeat NO ONE !----I know feels great in such a short time. You have to be patient. Sorry, but this is the truth. Stay the course and eat plain, whole foods. Dump dairy at first. Hang in there!
  5. I think you will start to progress now that you are home, IMHO. I'd like to see you off the Amitriptyline. again, IMHO It causes long term issues you do not need. (I know: a rheumy made me take it to help me sleep. I used it for 6 months and I gained about 50 lbs. and it made me sluggish in the head) Be careful when tapering off,...
  6. YAAAY!! whoohoo!! IH is standing and applauding you!!!! If I had an emoticon that showed a little cheerleader waving pom-poms, I'd post it here. (I am such a techno geek)
  7. I hear you, sister! Burgundy, marsala, port, sherry, brandy, cognac, bourbon, white wine, etc.....I use them often. and I sample Julia would be proud of me.
  8. Well, hon, please hear me out, okay? Just bear with me. You start with this statement: "Especially since people who are trying to cook for me keep peppering me with questions with what is safe, and I *wanted* to tell them Kraft is safe, but again, I can't be too cautious, can I? Afterall I'm one of those people whose body doesn't really tell me...
  9. Even still, you are making food "drunk", and I like it!
  10. or put on some music and dance around?
  11. You can do it. You're a warrior. You really ARE going through some serious changes the past few weeks, Colleen. Dietary changes, cleaning out your kitchen, learning to cook, baking...that's a lot to do in a short time. Good for you. I quit in 1994. Cold turkey. (I am not even sure if they made patches or gum or anything like that back...
  12. Good idea, K! (and that could explain MY tight pants....aha, the salami....) Yeah, it is not really as "good" the second day, but I gave it a little dash of dressing and it perked up enough.
  13. Thanks so much for the update as I will be traveling that way in September to see friends. The Lobster Pot was my all-time fav place to go for YEARS!! Sorry you got hit, but very glad you did well otherwise. Many people rave about Outback so that is also good to hear. You passed right by me on your way, apparently(as I live about 40 mins. NE...
  14. Same here. I only cook the Tinkyada 13 mins. (my cousin's wife gave me that tip after I complained they were too wimpy when I first tried them) I like corn pasta for alfredo and "sturdier" meat and tomato-based sauces. Rice pasta works okay for me in everything else--- like the salad with Italian dressing and veggies. (I think we make the same...
  15. I think we all worried you were not getting sufficient care post- DX from what you were telling us. So glad you are home and can investigate what's going on. Hey, how's the pain level? any better?
  16. No, I hate clutter!! Be careful, please!!
  17. oh boy, that sounds good to me. I'd ask you to make one for me right now...if we lived near each other!
  18. aw, thanks so much for saying such a sweet thing. I am truly humbled and appreciate your hug, too! (ah, that felt wonderful) Thank you so much, hunny!! Okay, now.....back to "unusual combos"....
  19. Welcome Home, Babs!! When is your Dr. Fasano visit??
  20. Sora, this was a "I just want to cry" kind of day, and YOU just made it all better.!! Thank you so much!! ooxx IH
  21. Just a moment here, please. You are twisting her words. This is not what Skylark was talking about at all. You have gone so completely off topic now. The topic is about how many people self-diagnose. Lisa has already pointed this out once. It is not about why you shouldn't self-diagnose. EVERYONE already knows this. They have all tried to obtain...
  22. Well, I have preached to the empty choir about high- dosing B vitamins without cause, but no one wants to hear me. They most certainly cause stomach distress and CAN ACCUMULATE in the body and cause toxic levels. Too much B6 will cause parasthesia for example. I had burning nerve pain from too much B-12 and B-6. No one wants to hear it. Yet, I am...
  23. Here is a collection of DH photos. They seem to represent the ways DH can "morph" Many of the pictures you have posted seem to be consistent with these pictures of diagnosed DH. This does not mean it IS DH, it just means...it sure seems to resemble it. I had many blistery sores on my scalp, face, in my mouth when I was very ill from unDXed...
  24. Well, sure..... who doesn't love pate?!! If we're "going there" --then yes, I am a CLLC member, too. Foie gras is only as good as the chef..... RUBBERY ones---oh no!!
  25. Hubs likes mayo on fries. Aioli on fries would be even better. Great! just what I need! another "treat" to add to my repertoire --my pants are tight now and SORA is late in delivering the moo moos we ordered.
