ARCHIVED Psychedelics Changed My Life.
IrishHeart replied to JamieRmusic's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
I read this Nat Geo article about how an MD is using it for possible mental health treatments, but he cautions doing it without medical supervision Open Original Shared Link "How can you feel something like that and believe it is all fake. It just can’t be. " But that's the nature of altered experiences...you think it's real, but it's... -

ARCHIVED Thank You Everyone, Esp. Irishheart
IrishHeart replied to C-Girl's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Well, pass me a cookie and give me a big hug! whoohoooo! Since my friend Sherry also suffered from microscopic/lymphocytic colitis in addition to celiac, I knew it had to be something like this because you were being so careful and it's not always "about the gluten". D does not happen without cause. It just made no sense to me.......and I am so... -

I do not think "all food" is causing health problems. I think mine is probably from a damaged body from long undiagnosed celiac. That's not from the food, per se. That's an autoimmune response. Most people tolerate wheat just fine. Many people have health issues that have nothing to do with food. Macular degeneration, congenital disorders, etc.....

ARCHIVED Anyone Out There With Burning Diarrhea?
IrishHeart replied to Questore's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
My entire GI tract burned from mouth to rectum when I was very ill for 3 years before diagnosis, but other people without celiac can have this issue too (crohn's, IBD, UC, microscopis colitis, colitis, food poisoning, chronic hemorhoids, for example). wellllll.......that's just one of the many fun symptoms I can expect in the ensuing days.) -
ARCHIVED Heard It On The Radio, So It Must Be True!
IrishHeart replied to Georgia-guy's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Righty. married to a lefty, plus a brother who is lefty--both who defied the nuns who tried to make them righties-- and several friends--all lefties and not a single AI disease amongst them. (correction, brother has asthma--controlled) Learned to be lefty when I had right shoulder surgery (wiping your bottom and doing buttons are tricky, btw)... -
I did not have swelling nodules or disfiguration at 40 either.( but i have a few bumps on my fingers now. the bumps themselves do not hurt, btw) I'm not saying that's what you have. I am saying it could be what's making the popping sounds. I think I do understand the strange stuff you deal with. I've had joint, bone and muscle pain for 25 years and...

I think the popping in your joints is very real. Your muscles and joints are probably fatigued and you may have OA like I do. osteoarthritis can be painful but manageable. Keep moving! I am glad you are eating something different and i hope you enjoyed it!. just remember--ONE food reintroduction at a time. Wait a few days.

Steph said: It can be really hard to tell what is crap alternative medicine and what actually works. Remind yourself that correlation does not equal causation. Agree! Even SW will tell you all that he found a naturopath who debunks the IgG food testing. I do not discuss this often (because people will say "oh you're just biased, IH"--and maybe...

ARCHIVED What Is Your Restaurant Spiel?
IrishHeart replied to JodyM75's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
I usuallt vet a place beforehand on Find Me Gluten free--only the ones where an actual celiac has eaten there and not gotten sick.. or I email the chef or I call the manager They are all very nice when chatting with me.. If I walk in somewhere, I just say "I have celiac, so I have to be very careful when eating out. Are you able to provide... -
ARCHIVED Round Up Of Symptoms
IrishHeart replied to UK2004's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
You should have been tested for celiac once your Dad was diagnosed. . Your symptoms are not unlike ones I had (and so many others on here). I am glad you feel better! (but IMHO, you most likely have celiac!) -
ARCHIVED Dealing With Eating Out
IrishHeart replied to Monkeygirl1337's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Your doctors should test you for celiac before assuming that is what you have. NCGS symptoms go away without gluten too. The tests are not that unreliable. The biopsy is done to validate it and there is always the genetic test to rule it out. Eating out 5 times a week is not a good idea at all, especially in the beginning. Too many chances for... -

what shaving cream has gluten? seriously, I have never heard of this.! My hubs has a beautiful, soft fluffy beard, so it's a moot point, but I am very curious..... -

ARCHIVED Dealing With Parties At Your House
IrishHeart replied to veryami1's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Seriously. What does your common sense tell you? There's no gluten in toilet paper. Even if there were..tell me..... how does she suggest you somehow ingest gluten through your anus when you wipe it, so it somehow gets digested and into your digestive tract? This woman is giving you bad info, IMHO People who switch over to all G F products in... -
