ARCHIVED Afraid To Say It Out Loud
IrishHeart replied to bartfull's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
When I make my tour of the country and meet the people I have met on c.com, I will keep you in mind. I mean it!! No worries, I'll help you cook--if you do not mind some assistance! I meant to add, mine was not TMJD either! It was just stress- induced tight muscles. I believe you when you say it is better because you are not stressing so much and you... -

IrishHeart replied to KMMO320's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
It was one of my horrible celiac symptoms for 12 years and now, it is gone. -
It is never too late to start feeling well. In fact, the majority of people being DXed with celiac are in their 50's and 60s. Read this: Open Original Shared Link Welcome to the fold!

ARCHIVED Flaxseed
IrishHeart replied to razzle51's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
A tablespoon of Ground Flaxseed in 16 oz. of water helps greatly with motility issues. Plus, it is high in Omega3s --which we need. -
ARCHIVED Hawaiian Luau Recipes Anyone?
IrishHeart replied to 1974girl's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
That depends on what you are making. If it simply used as a thickening agent or a coating, yes, but if it is a baked good, it is more complicated. What are you referring to? -

IrishHeart replied to bartfull's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Honey, I know your road was rocky and I think having extra stressors made things more difficult than it had to be, but you DID it.... and I am standing up and wildly applauding you !!!!yaaay!!! I know what you mean about wondering if anything is ever going to get better and then, one day, you realize, holy crappers! I AM better !! and I have jumped a... -

IrishHeart replied to jess-gf's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Mexican tonight. Guacamole and mango and pineapple salsa and a batch of Beef nachos (I make my own taco seasoning) Flan with vanilla whipped cream. IrishHeart replied to jess-gf's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Sounds like you roughed that tuna up a little. I bet it was de-lish !! I love tuna. and I still cannot get over how adorable your dog is. So cute. -
That's the spirit!! No worries now. Move forward. Drink a lot of water (drinking alcohol makes us dehydrated) and take probiotics and ....knock it off!! You're "lucky" you do not get very sick on gluten. I'm a "veteran" who knows better and I'm miserable and in muscle/bone pain here for 6 days now from a trace gluten CC issue. Happens to...

ARCHIVED Gluten And My Depression Experience
IrishHeart replied to Erin80's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Since by nature I am neither depressive nor do I have any clinical psychological or mental health issues (or so I am told), I was perplexed and frustrated and damn scared when I fell into depressive thinking and developed anxiety and had bouts of real fear and frantic or obsessive thinking. I was an insomniac to the point of real sleep deprivation and... -
ARCHIVED Hawaiian Luau Recipes Anyone?
IrishHeart replied to 1974girl's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Here is a yummy Hawaiian sweet bread recipe from Living Without Mag: Open Original Shared Link and here are dozens of Luau recipes! You could do roasted pork for your main meal, if roasting a whole pig is a bit much. Open Original Shared Link I looked through them--they all look pretty celiac friendly. They look delicious!! More... -
ARCHIVED How Did I Get Glutened!?!
IrishHeart replied to CanineGluten's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Stop eating it if it makes you anti-social. You got glutened because you are eating breaded foods and donuts, that's how. This is why I was telling you that you cannot tell people --as you are doing on another thread ---to FAST when they are recovering from celiac. You do not fast when you are very ill from malabsorption and in starving mode, okay? Celiacs... -
ARCHIVED Cetyl Alcohol
IrishHeart replied to TiaMichi2's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Suave is safe as far as I know. I have used it. Cetyl alcohol is often derived from coconut in hair products. -

ARCHIVED Gluten Free: Day 1
IrishHeart replied to mrsmuffin's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Hello and welcome! May I also point you to this thread--more "light reading for you" (and so I do not bore everyone to death by writing it all it again ) Maybe something on here will help. Best wishes to you! IH -
Everyone makes mistakes, hon. Don't beat yourself up over it. I'll spare you the lecture about why you should never do this, because you already know. Just start again today! And next time, just get the fries if you can't help yourself from eating fast food crap. Lots of people on here say they can eat those. Seriously, though...I have to tease...

ARCHIVED Can I Have A Nervous Breakdown Now?
IrishHeart replied to BabsV's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Yeah, those curve balls and slider sure make the ball game interesting. Please keep us posted. And ask if you can take a pic of yourself with the famous Dr. F. He works tirelessly for us celiacs. ....and he looks pretty cute. -
ARCHIVED The Song Name Game
IrishHeart replied to navigator's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Love is Blue--Jeff Beck PS.....You can nibble in my garden. I let all the bunnies roam free there. (my cat, Bella, will want to make friends with you) -
I am glad this works for you, but this is not what a malnourished celiac needs right now. I do not think eating healthy proteins and veggies and fruits is a "food addiction". I think of it as fueling my body which was starved for years because of malabsorption. I was DYING from celiac. I had lost 95 lbs. and I was very ill. The last thing a malnourished...

Try the dairy free, gluten-free Culturelle. It is backed by research and contains lactobaccilus GG. Custom probiotics multi-strain is also very good. Taking a tablespoon of ground flaxseed in a big glass of water ( 16 oz.) every morning and evening will help your motility immensely. It is also loaded with EFAs (essential fatty acids) that we require...
