  1. Fruit is high in sals, hon. Do you think that sals are your problem?
  2. I have heard only about visitors to Disney calling ahead and getting special food plans. They take allergies and celiac seriously. I would call ahead and tell them you will be working there and require gluten free meals. There must be a human resources contact for you to call?
  3. I know you probably already know this, but blood testing NEG does not rule out Celiac. I am seronegative and a celiac. No matter, your symptom improvement is the key!! Glad you feel better and your doctor is gluten-savvy!
  4. I, personally, am NO patient patient. I have to "self-talk" all the time and remind myself to chill about all this. I want to be 100% NOW, dammit, but it just does not happen that way. I'm looking at years to be THERE. Doc says "Sorry, but that's what it takes. Time." I look at where I am NOW and see healing happens!! And that's just...
  5. Prickly is right. I took a bunch too, and hated every minute of it. (18 at one point!) But they helped resolve so many issues (severe B-12 anemia, Folate anemia, Severe D def, cal/mag Def., K def. and bad GI pain and burning from my mouth to rectum, Omegas for bone/joint pain)..... now, I hardly take anything!! A multi, a little baby D-3 pill, cal...
  6. Stay on gluten and have a celiac biopsy done!! Celiac is NOT diagnosed via colonoscopy or just an endoscopy alone. You need the biopsy done. Your Doctor should know this. If your derma knows how to do a proper biopsy for Dermatitis herpetiformis, the skin form of celiac disease, she can DX you from that. (If indeed, your rash is DH) It does...
  7. Holy smokes! You've got yourself one of the rarest breeds of doctor in the whole doctor kingdom!! She knows what NCGI IS!! (and it's not a TV show) And she knows what follow-up testing to do!! You've hit the motherload! Congrats! I probably missed your other posts, but were you tested for celiac?
  8. In my case, it was "too many cooks"....
  9. I agree with Bunnie! .........and her feet look just like mine.
  10. USA --Boston Bred. My family and friends---we're all a bunch of molesters! Overly-enthusiastic even. (Irish, Italian, Armenian, giant mixed bag of people....) I hug freely. But only if I know it's okay with someone. (I respect boundaries) I always told my Dad, "you give good hug." He said "right back atcha!" Long good byes at family...
  11. It's tricky because too many sites offer conflicting lists of low-high salicylates in foods. I know I have a problem with MSG and soy and I was having trouble even tolerating the scent of candles and perfumes, etc. when I was very ill from the unDxed celiac. It was diminished a year after being gluten-free, but still, I had symptoms of a high allergic...
  12. but just try one NEW thing at a time, Dani, otherwise you may not know what's working and what is giving you grief. okay?
  13. If I had two bananas I could too!!....but J ate the last one...darn it! Off to the market......
  14. EXACTLY my point! and yes, after supplementing for a few months, check them again! The worst part was MY DOCTORS told me to take them!! But no follow up levels were done ( was naive and still in gluten head back then )...until my new GI took over and I asked --can you test my B levels and iron and TSH and T4 and T3 please??!!! That's when we...
  15. You're welcome. I just hate to think of you still feeling lousy, that's all. I keep trying to think of things that might help.
  16. That IS quite an appetite she has! I used to say "My metabolism must be in a coma." Thanks for the tip--and the link. I may make them this week! OINK OINK
  17. Lucky you! From all I have heard from members, Disney is GREAT for accomodating gluten-freers! Have a blast!

ARCHIVED Doctors Who Have No Clue

This was me. Do you know what my mother told me about my legs aching as a kid/teenager? "It's growing pains". Do you know her mother told her? Same thing. (after my DX, and discussing our life-long symptoms together, my Mom said sadly, "I'm sorry, honey." and I said "Mom, no worries---how could you have known?" Good for you for making...
  19. Dani, honey, the amount of beneficial bacteria in standard yogurt is insufficient to repopulate your unbalanced gut. Did you read the article I sent you yet? That gastrointestinal doctor's article is the best at explaining WHY we need them. The small amount of probiotics added to yogurt is good for people to maintain good gut bacteria, but it's not...
  20. senior moment!....I'm sorry, what were we talking about....?
  21. I know we talked about this on PMs, but hon---TIME is your ally. Today and tomorrow are enough to focus on right now. Take it slowly. Your body is "rebooting" itself. No one hates the thought of being patient more than I do. I lost so much time being sick and incapacitated and now, I just want go, go, go! and DO things, but my body is not entirely...
  22. Like Raven, I have been in PT and MT for over a year now, regaining lost muscle mass and strength. Oddly, despite being very stiff (my muscles felt like wood back then, my MT says) and burning and sore, I was flexible, so I pushed myself to do things I probably shouldn't have. It got so bad I could not lift my arms, open a jar or turn my neck. One rheumy...
  23. okay, lady...!! I looked at the recipe (and hey, that's the 2nd time this week you mentioned these muffins for me to see and I think you are trying to get me to pop the zipper on my pants!) and I wondered... if you make the banana bread as muffins, how many do they make and how long do you bake them? Thanks, hunny!! IH
  24. I agree with Raven and if you decide to come off the meds, I STRONGLY suggest slowly tapering off the meds. I tried low dose xanax for a few months (while still sick and undiagnosed and it did not really help me much, so I stopped it cold turkey. Not wise.) Coming off anti-anxiety meds will produce withdrawal symptoms and can sometimes create...

ARCHIVED Doctors Who Have No Clue

I feel your frustration. I lived it for years. I met my share of idiots who could do nothing to help me, only push drugs. I had bad abdominal pain for so long, my pelvic floor was deeply impacted and my SI joints inflamed, pudendal nerve entrapped, etc. Of course you are stressed, you HURT! I can offer ((hugs)) and a sonuv(*&^$! on...
