  1. As I have never acted my age, looking old was just perplexing. I liked 22. I'll be that. thanks, J.
  2. That's good! No bloating is good!! I agree about the question of the rice milk. Make your own. Google it! Very easy.
  3. Just to be clear...the expression my Mom uses "Whatever blows your skirt up" means nothing except "do what makes you happy" or "whatever floats your boat". It is used in the spirit of generosity. Like "can I have chocolate ice cream instead of vanilla?" "Sure, honey...whatever blows yer skirt up" IH likes to be very clear about such...
  4. I found someone who uses no harsh chemicals or dyes and it works for me. No "ammonia or chemical smells" in the salon. I went gray in my 30's and I do not like it. She knew I was DXed with celiac, but she had not seen me in 2 years. She was a psychiatrist my PCP sent me to for xanax when I was an anxious insomniac. I told her "look I am not...
  5. So, I run into a doctor I had consulted back in 2009 (when I was very ill)and she has trouble placing me at first, then says loudly "OMG! You look great! You look 10 years younger!!". Thanks! (picture IH blushing) Later, I thought about it. I was so sick, emaciated, pale, half dead, my hair had fallen out and turned white, and I looked like I was...
  6. Peter has given you the best advice and I agree totally. You can check out my thread "Newbie Info 101" in the coping section for some tips on avoiding gluten, etc.including safe foods, cross contamination issues, etc. See if anything there helps? Best wishes and welcome!
  7. THIS ARTICLE WAS POSTED IN THE PUBLICATIONS SECTION, but I thought some of you might find it interesting. I paid (out of pocket) for IgG testing back in 2010 and it showed a severe intolerance to soybean, BUT NOT GLUTEN AND CASEIN. I was, however, gluten-free and dairy free for 5 weeks at the time, on a trial run to see if it would help me. (I did not...
  8. That is possible, IMHO. But absorbing it through the feet? I just cannot see how. Anyone else have ideas??
  9. The oatmeal on the foot will not cause you any harm. But if you are going to eat it,(but not the stuff off the bottom of your foot ) make sure it is a certified gluten-free brand. Gluten is not absorbed through the skin anyway. Question Celiac disease: Can gluten be absorbed through the skin? I have celiac disease. Do I need to be concerned...
  10. Having suffered migraines myself, I have had them be more mild than usual--as it is not about the intensity, but the pattern of them that qualifies them as migraines--and I have had them be so bad, that I asked my husband to just please shoot me with the .22 we keep by the door for rabid animals. Whether you agree or disagree with the word I used, a...
  11. Sorry to hear this. Maybe you can slip him some probiotics and keep him gluten-free when he is with you. I pray he gets some relief. When someone who obviously has a gluten issue snarks at me "not everyone has gluten issues!", it takes everything in my power to hold my tongue and not say "maybe not, but honey, YOU surely do!" Know in your heart...
  12. Floaters look like black cobwebs, but when you examine the eye, there is nothing there to see. They seem more pronounced in the sunlight or if you look at a white wall or the ceiling. No, I do not have diabetes, thank goodness (my sister does) but I do have erratic blood sugar spikes and dips sometimes, although that has leveled off in the past few months...
  13. From all you have told us, it sounds as if you thought of everything else. The Folate anemia possibility was all I could come up with. I hope you figure out what it is, hon. I know how frustrating it is to feel this way. Keep us posted!
  14. Yes, yes, you were first! Mom, Karen always gets to be first!! YOU get to say "Na, na told you so!" . But modiddly and I said it too!! ....just sayin. This is, as the Bard would say, MUCH ado about nothing. Don't we have small countries to run or something? Get busy, you!
  15. I guess my same explanation was mundane too, then?
  16. Good thoughts, Gee Free Dee Cee!
  17. oh hunny...you can always whine! we GET it. (hugs again) I wish I could push a fast forward button for you.
  18. Chocolate can trigger migraines. Could that be it?
  19. Etta James was a musical goddess. Her rendition of "At Last"?...wow here's a ditty I can't get out of my head...
  20. WHOOPS, I am becoming a TOTAL bore then if you know my story so well SORRY. I was trying to be encouraging, but failed, I guess... let me try this then (hugs) and eat the pears for sure wishing you well, IH
  21. Same here!! and I have the same questions.
  22. You are in a tough spot, hon. You balance being a hands-on Gramma and trying not to alienate DIL. Sorry. I guess the only thing you and your son can do is EXPLAIN in detail that your DX and his AI disease and obvious gluten issues are hereditary and that a wee one should not have these issues--- unless he, too has a gluten issue. I am...
  23. There was a time when I could not eat much of anything. Even juicing fruits and veggies hurt me. Then, I was doing an elimination diet and thinking all the joy for life had been sucked out of me. My GI tract burned from mouth to rectum and I could not swallow without pain. I was bloated with inflammation, my hair falling out, itchy scabs and sores on my peeling...
  24. I agree with Skylark. Be tested while still on gluten, but your symptoms sure sound like celiac disease to me. (in fact, you sound just LIKE me!--even the frequent miscarriages, "IBS", migraines, etc...). Please, be insistent that you have the celiac tests run. If they come back negative, it still may not be conclusive and we can help you from there...
  25. No baby or infant or toddler should need metamucil and suppositories. Talk about compounding a problem!!! Please, for the love of mike, have them try a gluten-free diet and some probiotics and get him to drink water. As Karen points out, trying to potty train a 3 year old when he can't even produce a solid, easy to pass BM is asking a lot...
