  1. Like many, as a child I always had unexplained tummy aches. Right out of high school I was struck with crippling anxiety. 3 years I spent getting tested for everything and nobody could explain until a doc prescribed anti-anxiety meds. Those worked for years but I became addicted to them so had to do the bio-feedback route to learn to deal w/ that instead...
  2. I'm new to celiac...just 7 months into it. I was having the same issue so about a month ago I invested in some really nutritional shake mix. Not only did it completely turn my counts around (just had follow up w/ GI doc and blood work) but I feel so much better and not like I'm constantly struggling to get enough. My son, who is not celiac and like most...
  3. I have TMJ but not aware of it being related to my celiac disease.
  4. I got my call September 1st last year and what wake up call that was. Thanks for sharing your story about your husband and his work place. I've been reading more and more about these types of cross contamination and it does make sense just not something we'd think of.
  5. Whew...it's reassuring to know I'm not the only one that feel this way!!!
  6. Great topic! I was diagnosed a little over 6 months ago and thought for sure I'd lose weight. After all..no more fast food, bread, pasta, beer and so on...but still, the things I can eat have calories and that was a lesson to be learned. I didn't put on a lot of weight, maybe 5 pounds but I work out regularly so I definitely noticed. I'm no longer eating...
  7. Budweiser makes Red Bridge...it's "ok" and it's beer but it's not the Bud Select I used to love. And if you aren't a Bud drinker, you probably won't like it at all. I'm still looking for a good gluten-free beer.
  8. The Redbridge does leave a lot to be desired but dang, I want an ice cold beer!!!
  9. Pizza with an ice cold beer!!! I dream about 'em...my mouth is watering now just thinking about it. 6 months in and doing ok, some good days and some sad ones. I will say, the gluten-free crust is tolerable but it's just not the same. I was one of those peeps that just about everything in my diet is now forbidden. Thankfully I still get to eat meat...
  10. Have you tried a probiotic with your meals? It will help your food digest and maybe keep things from getting clogged up. I took it when I had to do a course of PrevPak and it really helped with my digestion. I stopped taking it when I ran out as I was done with the antibiotics but I'm thinking I'll go back to taking them as I don't feel as good as I was...
  11. @ Marilyn R Thank you for sharing. It can't be easy but there's nothing like the truth to help a celiac patient see the need for living gluten free. Especially if you're like me and mostly asymptomatic.
  12. I am one of those people who LOVES to eat. Being diagnosed last fall was heart breaking for me. I still love food and love to talk about food so don't mind telling people about celiac. Pretty sure this will change as time goes on but for now, I'm taking pleasure in finding good things I can eat cuz there is so much really good food I can't. I will say...
  13. Our boss had pizza delivered for his birthday today to share with all...the secretary suggested I eat the toppings and just leave the crust..."surely that will be fine" is what she said. Heavy sigh! Going in Friday for my 6 month follow-up (diagnosed on my birthday last year)...hopefully all this dieting will pay off when the GI doc runs his tests.
  14. What is in canned frosting that is bad for a celiac? I'm 6 months in and doing well with the obvious but I think I need a lot of work on the not-so-obvious. Have my first follow-up w/ the GI doc this Friday and I'm a bit nervous.
  15. What does regular mayo have in it that celiac's can't have?
  16. I've been gluten-free for about 6 months and that was definitely an issue for me for at least 2 or 3 months but am happy to report, it is much (much) better now. =)
  17. Thank you for the compliment dear. Sometimes being scared is what it takes. I think that is especially true when a person is asymptomatic. If your story on the post is just a preview of your book...I'm with your family...write it and get it published. There are many people who would greatly benefit from your story so spread the word. Sometimes I will admit...I wish there was a pill for...

  18. Well, look at that gorgeous face!! :>) wow, thanks for your sweet message. I do not like to scare anyone, but the truth is, I have been in hell and if I can spare one person that nightmare, I'll shout my story from rooftops!! LOL I have told my family I am going to write a book. This THING is epidemic and the treatment is so simple---if we only know about it.

    Be wel...

  19. It's really hard to explain to someone who hasn't eaten gluten-free bread before that it can have a grainy texture. Our local pizzeria does a gluten-free crust and I've tried it w/ different toppings and just can't stomach the grainy texture in the crust. ick! It's really sad too because they have some of the best pizza & pasta around but I don't think...
  20. It never occurred to me to take the 2 mixes and make one for a thicker crust (excuse my blonde moment . Thanks for the suggestion.
  21. I am one of these people...25 years of "ibs" with no luck figuring out the triggers. Only have those episodes now when I've consumed gluten (inadvertently, of course).
  22. They are *very* good! I just don't enjoy a hamburger w/o the bun and these do it for me.
  23. I'm 6 months into the diet and sometimes I still wanna cry. The first time someone walked by me (while I held the door for them at work...I'm "lucky" enough to work across the hall from the cafeteria) with an order of lasagna and a breadstick...I cried. It was embarrassing but I couldn't help myself. It's better now but I still crave those foods I can...
  24. On my 6th month of being gluten-free and I am one who really, really likes to eat. I have cake all the time, just without the gluten. I have found that when I take my gluten-free treats, they go quicker. People tell me the chocolate is more chocolaty and I don't mind sharing my "special food". Gluten free stuffing isn't a big issue either. For that matter...
