  1. I feel like we now have a special connection, knowing the magic of these bagels, lol. And it's not like these are good bagels simply compared to the frozen/packaged gluten-free bagels - these are amazing compared to regular bagels! (I grew up with a strong appreciation for New York bagels and can still remember) My boyfriend is my official taste tester...
  2. OMG I just made these bagels and they are AMAZING!!!!! There aren't enough exclamation marks to express how delicious they are!!!! I have a very good gluten-free bakery near me, and these bagels are officially better. And they are so easy to make (no harder than bread from scratch)! I will now eat nothing but bagels. A note: I didn't have the rapid...
  3. My ex was terrible about this. He hated the fact that I had Celiac Disease and called me paranoid when I told him that he shouldn't french kiss me after eating Frosted Flakes. He had the worst attitude, and it got to the point that I was afraid to say the word "gluten" around him for fear of him getting angry. I'm glad he reacted that way because it showed...
  4. Hi everyone! I'm looking for a good gluten free bagel recipe. I'm a good baker, so I think I'm up for the challenge! The recipe I have in my go-to book has a LOT of potato starch in it, and I'd like to make something a little more nutritious. Also, I prefer baking from scratch rather than using mixes. Anyone have a recipe they can share? Also, I found...
  5. I live in the US and ordered a few bags through Amazon.com. It was Amazon who alerted me, so obviously they were concerned. I don't know where all of their suppliers are located. It doesn't hurt to check.
  6. A head's up: Open Original Shared Link Luckily, the batch that I got didn't seem affected - I was so worried that I would have to not only replace all of my flour (I use a single measuring scoop - why think to use separate utensils on "safe" foods?), but I was afraid that I'd have to replace all of my baking pans, mixers, ect. Again. I'm very...
  7. Thanks to everyone who replied. Just got my test results back and my ttg is still normal. Whoop!
  8. You can ask others, but I don't think that you can wash gluten off of foods and then consider it gluten free.
  9. Thanks for the advice! Even though my last test was negative, I'm going to schedule another appointment while I can to make sure that I'm still on track even though I haven't gotten sick
  10. Does anyone know of a lip balm/chap stick with sun screen in it that's gluten free? Thanks!
  11. Hi, I was diagnosed with Celiac in March 2011. By November of 2012 I finally had gotten my tTg level back down to normal. I've been doing really well since and haven't gotten sick at all. Feeling great. I'm going to lose my current health insurance at the end of September and need to decide if I want to go in for a check up blood test to make sure...
  12. Just got a reply via email, if anyone's interested: Good Morning: Thank you for your inquiry. We do perform a complete sanitation on all related equipment before packaging any of our Easy Quinoa items-however there is still a chance of cross contamination. We do test for gluten down to 20ppm. The short answer, in general it safe however it...
  13. I use Chanel products. I had spoken with them and they sent me a long list of products that are gluten free. I've also seen other posts from people on this site who have contacted them and said specifically that their lip glosses (what I primarily use) are gluten free. However, I just read another post about tocopherol being a gluten-containing ingredient...
  14. I was really excited about this product because it comes with flavor packets and reminded me of the gluten-filled rice pilaf I used to buy. It says gluten free on the front, and I didn't think anything of it until I brought it home and saw on the back that it says "Produced in a facility that is not dedicated gluten free." They don't have anything listed...
  15. Are their chai tea lattes gluten free? I don't know what drinks the vanilla bean powder is in.
  16. I haven't been on this board in a while, but I just wanted to share my good news - My tTg is finally back down to normal! It took about a year and a half to get my levels back down from 300+ to below 15. It was really frustrating because I made a giant leap of progress within the first three months, and then everything slowed down a lot as I got closer to...
  17. I have a friend who has gluten ataxia. I'm not an expert on the topic, but she said that going gluten free has changed her life completely, and she will never go back to eating a gluten-filled diet. Best of luck!
  18. Hi everyone! I got this awesome deal on the Katz online store and wanted to share the love with you all! Groupon (get $20 worth of stuff by paying $10) Open Original Shared Link 35% off Discount Code Open Original Shared Link They also have a great sample pack that is free with the code "SAMPLE" on their site. $7.99 flat rate shipping...
  19. There is a cooking video for a great gluten free recipe that's on youtube. It features a specific brand for one of the gluten-free ingredients. Am I allowed to share the link to the video on this forum? Wanna make sure I follow the rules
  20. I have always preferred spaghetti squash to actual spaghetti, gluten free or not. I'm Italian and like a lot of cheese on my pasta along with my family's home made meat sauce, so it makes me feel better knowing that the base of my dish is a lower-calorie vegetable rather than a high calorie carb.
  21. Restaurants: -FAVORITE!!!! - Bistango. Italian with the best gluten-free pizza and desserts in the city. Nice place and the owner is so sweet and really cares about helping the gluten-free community. I'd say about 90% of their menu can be made gluten free. -Lilli and Loo - Great Chinese -Lilli's 57 - Pretty good Chinese -5 Napkin Burger - Amazing...
  22. Dr. Michael Eng. He is near Union Square. He is my doctor and very nice. He really listens to the problems you're going through, and it's not difficult to get an appointment with him (I've heard of people who have had to wait several months with other doctors - yikes!). 137 5th Avenue, New York, NY (212) 529-3788
  23. I am in New York, as well, and let me just say that there are ways to eat very cheaply in the city. Instead of buying fruits and vegetables in grocery stores, buy them from the fruit stands you see on the street corners. Today I saw boxes of strawberries for $1.50 each! Bananas are also normally 25 cents each (which comes out to be cheaper than 59cents/pound...
  24. I make ginger tea from scratch to help with digestion. Also, try lying down on your back and holding on knee to your chest for a few minutes and breath deeply. Then switch legs. It's supposed to help release some pressure and gas. Hope it helps!
