  1. Hi and welcome! Be sure to poke around and read threads. The search engine is great, and everyone is always more than happy to help answer questions that you might have. In the case that your blood tests are positive, did your doctor say that he'll want to do a biopsy? If he does, you'll need to keep eating gluten until then (which will give you time...
  2. If you've only been on the diet for three days, you're probably going through withdrawal. One of those things where you feel worse before feeling better. Stick with it. Depending on the individual, amount of damage done, and age, it can takes a while to feel completely better.
  3. There is so much goodness radiating from this thread right now! I'm loving all of the positive vibes that we're creating
  4. I tried both Udi's and Rudi's, and toasted they taste like the same thing to me. Some of my Rudi's loafs had some holes in it, though, which annoyed me. You just have to be careful to get the gluten free kind because I think Rudi's makes non-gluten-free bread as well.
  5. My great grandmother lived a long full life, but she had a lot of stomach problems and had some sort of stomach cancer when she died. After decades of doctors telling her different things with nothing working, she told my mother (who also has stomach issues), "Just eat whatever you want because nothing works." They never told her to stop eating bread...
  6. I've always believed that even during troubled and difficult times, it is so important to connect with what I'm grateful for. It lifts my spirits, allows me to have more patience, and helps me become more available for good things to come into my life. I write in a gratitude journal at night (it used to be daily, but now it's whenever I have time or feel...
  7. Oh shoot, my link didn't get pasted in
  8. Welcome to the board and to the road to feeling better! A lot of doctors are like that actually. I have a great doctor, but I still learned everything on my own (I read probably 7 or 8 books). By the time I went in for my biopsy, he said that I didn't need to see a nutritionist because I already knew everything. Just take a breath and start at...
  9. This is a recipe I found for a sweet quinoa dish. I absolutely loved it.
  10. (knock on wood) I've been feeling fantastic lately! Let's keep the good feelings coming!

  11. I cook tons of really easy gluten-free meals. Most of the things I made before my diagnosis were actually naturally gluten-free, and the baking has been a pretty smooth switch. What kind of recipes are you looking for?
  12. I'm sorry to hear that about your brother. My sister is in a really hard position because she's a pastry chef and is around flour all the time. She actually told me one day, "I think I do have a gluten intolerance - but I like cake too much." She's living with my father right now, and I've told him that she needs to get retested in two years because...
  13. Yeah I'd say it definitely sounds like Celiac. Better to just do the diet right away and start healing again if you can't afford the testing. Hope you feel better soon!
  14. Knock on wood, but my experiment with food combinations is going really well! For the first time in a LONG time I feel normal again. And when I looked in the mirror today my body looked the way it did before I ever suspected I was sick. I'll post more as my experiment continues, but I highly recommend researching it and trying it out

    ARCHIVED Subway

Yeah, there were plenty of people on yelp who said that their gluten free desserts were great. Just one of those bakeries that is doing it to take advantage of the fad diet.

    ARCHIVED Subway

Ooooo I hate that, too. I can across one of those, and they said that wheat flour accidentally gets mixed into the gluten-free batter sometimes. It's absurd that they call it gluten free. They're going to make people sick.

    ARCHIVED Subway

I had read a few posts about people considering having salads from Subway, so I just thought I'd share this horror story: I work with one of my friends, and the day that I told her about going gluten free she went to Subway on her lunch break. When she came back she said, "Oh my god, NEVER go there!" She was getting a sandwich and the woman behind her...
  18. My entire Celiac panel levels were extremely high. My doctor actually had me stop eating gluten the week before my biopsy (at the time I didn't know any better to say no and wait). After my endoscopy he told me that I showed all of the internal signs of Celiac, and my biopsy came back positive. Just try to relax as much as you can. And even if it does...
  19. Personally I love cooking so much. What gets me is the amount of dishes I have to clean all the time
  20. Hey! well when you come to vegas let me know i can meet you on the strip and we can have a nice gluten-free lunch and talk about eachothers stories!!!! :)

  21. Sounds like a great summer! PS In response to your dairy question - I stay away from major forms of dairy (milk, cheese, yogurt, ice cream). But my doctor said that it was okay for me to have Dove dark chocolate (contains milk fat). I also use butter and nestle chocolate chips when I bake cookies (which I only do on occasion), and there are trace amounts...
  22. That would be great. Are you a member of the NY Celiac Meetup group? I've heard that's a great community, too. It's just too bad that most of their events are on Monday evenings, and that's a day I definitely can't get off work. :-/
  23. Hi, I'm three months gluten free and am still experiencing really bad bloating. Because I feel that way after I eat anything, I'm tending to think that it's my body healing and having a hard time digesting foods in general, rather than another food intolerance. I've been researching the theory of food combinations for easy digestion and have been trying...
  24. It's great that you're taking it on yourself to try the diet. I wish my sister would do the same. She tested negative for Celiac, but I'm positive she has a gluten intolerance and possibly casein, too. She just doesn't want to try the diet even though she feels horrible and I told her it could help.
  25. Hi and welcome to the board! We're about the same age, and I was just diagnosed with Celiac about three months ago. We're actually pretty lucky for being diagnosed relatively early in life. Many people go their entire lives without realizing they have an intolerance, and a lot of times that results in other medical complications (my great grandmother had...
