  1. So what do you all think of the ingredients? Is there a list out there somewhere of common chemicals that contain gluten? I have a ton of these cosmetics, and I'd really love to be able to continue to use them. I'd really appreciate some help.
  2. Can you have eggs? I love making this bread (I actually just made it this morning!). It has a nutty/flax taste and is delicious when toasted with almond butter Open Original Shared Link
  3. Could you be lactose intolerant? I don't know what your gluten symptoms are, but even aged cheese gives me a horrible stomach ache. Hope you feel better!
  4. My doctor says that it's necessary, and I agree, because it shows your progress. If your levels don't go down enough or don't change it's a good indication that gluten is somehow sneaking it's way into your diet. For me it's important, because I want to make sure I'm doing it right and that all of my efforts are making a difference.
  5. I know that I can get them online, but are there any big name stores that carry them? I called Bed Bath and Beyond, and they had no idea what I was talking about...
  6. Chanel is such a wonderful company. They FedExed me a list of their products that contain gluten/corn/soy ect. Most of their products were listed as not containing gluten, but there were a few that I had questions about so I emailed them back. They send me the full list of ingredients for each of those products, but now I'm left with tons of chemical names...
  7. I'm in love with gluten free cooking :)

  8. Hi Meg. I think it's wonderful how supportive you're being and that you're doing so much research. He's a really lucky guy. Everyone's giving lots of good advice on here. A question - do you like to bake? And does he like cookies? If so, I have a wonderful and easy recipe that my boyfriend (non-celiac) loves. Food is totally the way to his heart
  9. Well said.
  10. "Thank you for taking the time to contact Clinique. For the benefit of our gluten-sensitive consumers who may have cross-sensitivities, Clinique takes the extra precaution of including soy, corn and rice in our research in addition to wheat, oat, barley and rye derivatives. In addressing your concern about gluten, we would like to explain that a vast...
  11. Sure if they believe that it makes them play better, then that is their choice. It's a health move for their career. What annoys me is when people claim they are completely gluten-free but are only following the diet halfway. With the fad diet, people don't necessarily worry about spices and CC, and it makes us look like we're neurotic in comparison...
  12. A little bakery rant of my own: I was looking for a dessert place to go to with a friend today. I found a bakery with gluten free items, and luckily I called them before going. When I asked how careful they are with their gluten free products they said, "Oh not at all." The woman told me how often times some wheat flour gets mixed in with their gluten-free...
  13. I sear salmon in a pan with a little salt, pepper, and dill. So quick and easy and tastes absolutely wonderful!
  14. I checked with Dove, and they've said that all of their chocolate is gluten free. YEAH!!!! They're my favorite
  15. I didn't have an instant read thermometer, so that may have been my problem. I checked the yeast, too, and it's good for another year and a half. I tried to cook the bread anyway just to see what would happen. It was so sad and comical. The outside rose a bit, but the inside didn't at all and was incredibly sticky...I'm going to try to enlist one of...
  16. Epic fail. I thought I was doing really well, but then my bread didn't rise. My sister thinks that when I dissolved the yeast in warm milk, that the milk wasn't the right temperature, and it killed the yeast. Any other input?
  17. I used Bob's Red Mill without a problem in this recipe, although I don't remember what size bread pan I used (I think it was maybe a little larger than she suggested). Head's up - the bread doesn't rise very much, but it still tasted great!
  18. Open Original Shared Link I made this bread last week. At first I wasn't sure if I liked it because it tastes very much like flax seeds, but after a few days it really grew on me. It's delicious toasted and with almond butter. It's really hearty/thick and actually has a bread consistency! Who could tell that it didn't have wheat in it? I sliced it and...
  19. Oh wow, I didn't know you could tell after that short of time. Don't listen to my 6 month suggestion then
  20. Also make sure you look to see if they're produced at the same facility/on the same equipment as wheat.
  21. I've heard that six months is generally an effective length. But I suggest making sure that you really research everything thoroughly before you begin so the switch isn't as hard for them. Get gluten-free snacks, dressings, sauces, ect. Find some easy kid-friendly recipes that are highly rated - maybe have your kids help you cook so they can get involved...
  22. Ok, so the mix I'm going to try will include Tapioca Flour, Arrowroot (instead of potato starch), and Sorghum Flour. The bread I'm going to attempt will also have a cup of either Teff, Almond Flour or Amaranth (instead of millet flour). Any opinions? Does that sound like a balanced combination? I'm only making a few slight changes, but I'm kind of nervous...
  23. So I'm really excited to try out a new bread recipe. Originally it called for millet but my sister (who's a baker) said that she prefers using buckwheat instead. So I bought some Bob's Red Mill 100% Buckwheat flour, and when I get home what do I find? Yes it's pure buckwheat, but it's made in the same facility as wheat! I was not a happy camper. I'm going...
  24. Thanks for the advice. I'm looking forward to being a little more clear again.
  25. (Diagnosed a month ago - gluten free for 3.5 weeks) I feel like over the last few months I've been having some problems. I often get side-tracked while telling stories and forget my place. Once I stopped talking mid-sentence and couldn't remember what I was talking about. Sometimes I also don't get the order of words right in a sentence (I'll flip the...
