  1. Yes, and Jane Anderson explains very well why there is a lack of formal research on this (I included the relevant paragraphs below). I'm also not convinced that the entire gluten protein is inside the egg, rather some broken-down metabolite that some of our bodies are reacting to. Which may be especially pertinent to those suffering from NCGS (as the OP is...
  2. I think the obvious answer is that there is far less gluten in oats that may be cc'd as compared to actual wheat. Whatever is in the egg, whether it be at a very low ppm's of gluten threshold or a broken down metabolite that's causing the issue, is not enough to affect me. I'd love for science to research this and get back to us. In the meantime,...
  3. Actually, no. That's why I mentioned it. The amount of gluten those oats may contain, then processed by the chicken, is not enough quantity to cause an issue for me. I will add that it pains me whenever I read on this board that someone thinks they are egg intolerant. Eggs are such a valuable nutritious food, it's worth exploring. I believe that many...
  4. You haven't been gluten-free that long and so you shouldn't jump to the conclusion that you're sensitive to gluten in eggs. The vast majority of celiacs, even the more sensitive ones, are fine with all eggs. You should try introducing them and just watch closely for any reaction. However, you started this thread in the super-sensitive forum and so deserve...

    ARCHIVED Grain Brain

I read it recently. He packs a lot of information into the book - unfortunately it's hard to distinguish between what's factual (a lot of it is) and what's not quite proven. I think it's an interesting read, but I would take large portions of it with a "grain" of salt.
  6. I've been eating the ones from Whole Foods (from Central America, I'm sure) and they've been great. The OP just wanted a safe way to eat cut pineapple without being glutened. The country of origin of the pineapple is off-topic.
  7. I also buy whole pineapples. It just takes a few minutes to peel and slice it into chunks, which I then store in the fridge for the week. Lots of good YouTube videos on how to open a pineapple. This is basically what I do: Open Original Shared Link
  8. My endoscopy showed chronic gastritis when I was first diagnosed. I was tested for all the things IrishHeart mentioned - everything was negative. Severe symptoms went away when I stopped eating gluten. Gastritis just means inflammation of the stomach lining, so no reason this can't just be celiac damage that affects some of us in this area. Probiotics have...
  9. My understanding of Guillain-Barre is that it has an acute severe onset that should be treated as urgently as possible. This is something you should contact your doctor's office about; do not depend on online armchair advice.
  10. It also sounds like you're using a shared kitchen at home. This is very difficult. Make sure that you have not only your own dedicated dishes, pots, pans, and cooking utensils stored separately, but that you're using a separate sponge to wash these dishes, your own dishrag, a clean counter space, etc. I don't know if it's at all possible for you to have...
  11. Food wise, the turmeric jumps out at me. I can't handle any kind of turmeric or turmeric-based curry powder. I had bad reactions to both (another brand). Keep in mind with spices the issues have less to do with who the manufacturer is, than with the lack of control and consistency of food handling at the source end (usually countries in Asia, India). I...
  12. I make my own mayonnaise from scratch. It takes less than 5 minutes. I posted my recipe in this thread a while back: https://www.celiac.com/forums/topic/99299-homemade-mayo/?hl=+mayonnaise%20+recipe I use Tinkyada lasagna noodles. When I don't have fresh tomatoes, I make tomato sauce using Pomi.
  13. I'm sorry, I thought this was the super-sensitive forum? Where we're "allowed" to react below 20ppm? I never said it had more than 20ppm. My body will happily oblige and react to less. You should read more carefully. You're also saying I don't know the difference between too much alcohol and gluten exposure, and that I shouldn't report my experience because...
  14. Herbal Supplements may have wheat filler: Open Original Shared Link
  15. It seems to vary for everyone. There are some on this board who have successfully re-introduced dairy after a few years. Me, I've been off dairy almost four years, and gluten-free for almost three years. I show no signs of being able to tolerate casein - I recently had a minor exposure through cc to dairy, and my symptoms were as painful as ever (severe stomach...
  16. I emailed Bards directly and they responded right away. The 10ppm I read somewhere else (I think on their site somewhere?) I'm ok with other gluten-free products in dedicated facilities that test to 10ppm (Udi's, Namaste). I don't love the shared facility part, but I'd be comfortable going to back to Bards and trying it again. I just don't love...
  17. I've also never heard of Glutenberg beer. They claim to get 0ppm (as in zero) - that's quite a claim! According to their FAQ they are a gluten free facility: Open Original Shared Link I'll have to see if we can get it in the Boston area. This thread is timely for me because I was planning on resurrecting it too! I just definitely reacted to Green...
  18. IrishHeart, Where do I start? Deceptive marketing practices, grossly inhumane conditions, environmental pollution, restrictive contracts on local growers, feed that includes arsenic, antibiotics, and god knows what else, and so forth. These issues are not limited to Perdue (we've been spelling it wrong). These are the same issues that most industrialized...
  19. There are so many reasons not buy Purdue chickens. Having gluten is the least of them.
  20. Sadly I agree with you.
  21. This is depressing (and I don't even need to get glutened to get depressed by this). I worry that by the time consumers get concerned enough, assuming it ever happens, it will be too late.

    ARCHIVED Nyc Dining

I ate at Risotteria and loved it. No issues. Add Blue Smoke (ribs) and Candle 79 (vegan).
  23. The biopsy has been taken, the results can't be affected by what you do now, so there is no reason to wait to start the gluten free diet. Your instincts are correct. side rant: WHY are doctors so hesitant to put patients on a gluten free diet? They worry less about prescribing all kinds of crazy meds with crazier side effects. The doctor has taken the...
  24. My nutritionist who is expert in Celiac recommended that I avoid TJ's products. There have just been too many issues with cc. I only buy olive oil, salt, paper products, and dish soap from them.
